This thread was on "the other forum" so now it's here!

Please post if you are DEFINITELY going to wear a costume from Final Fantasy 6 (3 in the US) and possibly take part in the cosplay.

LOCKE-      Pezcat
TERRA-
---(Esper)-  Penelo
EDGAR-      Tom the Fanboy
SABIN-
SHADOW-
CELES-       fillkaeris
CYAN-        Micah
GAU-          karl
MOG-         superjaz3
SETZER-     Tom's friend Stephen
RELM-
STRAGO-
UMARU-
GOGO-
Post on the thread if you're going to participate.

Did I miss anyone?
How about cool minor characters?
Like Cid, Bigg and Wedge, General Leo?
Or Kefka, we had a Kefka last year, right Blackjack?

Here's a page for a lot of good reference art!
http://eyesonff.com/ff6/artwork_page_1.shtml

This site also has information on all the relics if you'd like to craft some equipment for your costume.

Keep in mind, we aren't going to hate you if you dress as somebody we already have, we'd just really really like to have the whole cast!

Bring Kefka, does that bother anyone else?

Aww, but 'righteous' makes me sound like a religious fanatic!

Oh c'mon, don't tell me you're going to be a villain with self doubt!

What are you? A Sorceress or a Seifer!?

In other news, I thought of something I've been discussing with Pzcat.
Magicite. More importantly Espers.
If someone could find a large number of plastic crystal shape thingies we could use that'd be great. I figure if we can get a bunch of crystal shaped things and put a green round thing in them we could have pieces of magicite to play with at the con. If we wanted to get fancy we could put little monsters in them or little figures of the different espers.

The other thing I was thinking of for the costumes was items.
Relics really.
I mean, wouldn't it be cool to wear the Genji Glove or the Sprint Shoes?
I'm sure we could easily come up with something that'd work as a Gold Hairpin.
Sniper Sight though? What're we going to do, put a telescope on a sword?

Any ideas on Relics we could pull off?
If I can't find white boots for Edgar, I'm gonna hafta have some Nike Running Shoes on the whole time (great, I get to cosplay "hasted").

Sounds more like a bribe than a challenge to me!  =^~.~^=

Tom - Any of the "gloves" or "rings" aren't that tough, I'm guessing.  I'm already gonna hafta have gloves for my outfit, so there's my Thief Glove... and noone will likely see the ring I wear underneath for my Sneak Ring, but that covers those.

Though, admittedly, I'm gonna be VERY scared if someone brings a dead goat or something for the "Offering"...

superjaz will hafta make sure to get some sort of SCUBA mask for karl.

I'd like to note that I offically have a sign up for Cyan.
Of course he hasn't been able to register or get stuff for the costume.
He already looks like Cyan hair-wise though and he has the swords.
I'm hoping to conscript his daughter into being Relm.

my younger brother has been lookiing over "shiny" objects at yard sales (mostly old cheap jewalry) and i can keep an eye out for things that make good relics,  i'm going to make the costmes so i'll think of something for the divers helmet, for gau's "shirt" i'll make a lepard ish animal skin think but for pants or shorts, i've got this mock fuzz bear skin that i was thing of useing, it dosn't realy show gaus pants and i figure as long as i cut it rugidly as if it was an animal i'd be cool,
problem as of the 7th of june my internet acess will be nill due to the letting out of school so rest asured, even tho i can't post, i'll have gau and mog ready for the con, and what ever goodys i can scrap up as acesorys
question--espers are supost to be like little stone animals of what they once were or somthing like that, what about plastic pokemon figurrens?
you can pick them up cheep at any yard sale, i know it might be a strech calling them espers tho, and if your thinking in crystly they made some that came in clear bouncy balls

The espers themselves were actual creatures... but the Magicite they were distilled down to was basically a green crystal with a red center.  Then again, we are dealing with SNES graphics here, so the obvious grain of salt becomes necessary.

I really should get started on my costume...

We should all get together sometime to practice the skit, or at least go over some ideas. Perhaps out for dinner sometime. Can you all get out to Tualatin sometime? Thai Spices is a nice place and there's a lake there, and they're used to LARPers in that area as there's a Vampire group who meets nearby.

its funny in soc class the teacher just showed a video that said that all the violence in the world was the fault of video games, but when i ask my younger brother what he love about ff6 he says its because he gets to save the world (right here from his own den, do do do)
i swear the tape was the biggest load of oglops i've ever seen

Point that out to your teacher. Also point out all the violence in the world BEFORE video games, and by people who are unlikely to have ever played a video game (most world leaders, etc)

Plan the skit? Are you mad?
That's something to be done Friday night of the con!
However it would be cool to get together some time with the sixers.
I dunno when /if the eugene people could make it up here though. For Pezcat, Tualitin is about almost hour closer than my house out here in Forest Grove (traffic pending) but it's still two hours away. Any part of the group in Salem?

Heh heh heh, Vampire LARP in Tualitin. I think I know that group. I run a tabletop game every other week and one of my players went to that game for a night. I have evil stories about how both our games paralelled on the player. Poor bastard.

That would actually be extremely cool, IMO.  I wonder if our Celes is doing anything similar with normal outfit/opera dress as well... I plan on brining an extra headband just so I can go back and forth between which Locke icon I want to use, but obviously THAT'S a lot less work!  =^~.o^=

Then again, everyone needs to be fed to Octopus royalty at least once.

There shoulda been an Ultros game. He's the Wario of the final Fantasy world after all.
Wait, I can see the next franchise now!

The Adventures of Biggs and Wedge: The Wrath of Ultros!

I'd buy it!

I used to hate Biggs and Wedge in the previos games, but now I kinda look forward to seeing how they get worked in.
And now I'm a catgirl?

The voice of the one I love
was all I could hear as I lay broken in the darkness
My own voice faltered
My wings no longer had the strength to fly

See, I heard there *was* an Ultros game once a loooong time ago, and it didn't sell well, but Square (who had made the original one, if you were wondering) thought he was great anyway and put him in FFVI.

At least that's what Ultros.com said anyway.

So......... how's everyone coming with their costumes? I'm meeting with dashthegnome this week to go over mine.

Anyone know where I can get some armor stuff so I don't have to use cardboard?

But my costume's already made!

...although given that I seem to have expanded recently (I don't know how! I haven't changed my diet), I may have to get new pants...Everything else is good to go, though.

Okay, so the question arises... those of us who ARE cosplaying in this troupe, what day(s) are we doing this?  Because I know several people who are cosplaying in the FF6 group have other costumes they're going to use as well...

Well, what day's the cosplay contest? That's the day I think we should do it.

And I got new pants for it. They're striped and blue and feel like a beach towel.

Alright y'all, whose got their costumes?
Mine is nearly complete and I just need some extra fitting. If for some reason any of you weren't able to get them together then it'd be good to know before the cosplay planning begins. I know that mine and Blackjacks are ready....

Also, Sunday is the day of the cosplay. If you aren't going to have your costume on all day then be sure to get it on for the cosplay rehersal that afternoon. The times will be available when they give a schedule.

As far as the skit itself goes I have some plans but will welcome ideas from everybody. The basics are going to be a confrontation between Kefka and some Returners with the usual twists and craziness.

Picked up the last pieces for my Locke costume today... it'll be ready by the end of the work day too... one down, one almost done... if the damn sword shop would get off their butts...

Isn't it SUNDAY? That's what Rem just said, since we planned the Fanfic stuff to be on Sunday before cosplay...

*smirks* *points to visable edit mark at bottom of Tom's initial post*

So anyway, we need to discuss the skit. We need something that will make it stand out, something that will make the judges love us...

And it can't be another laughing contest. Which is a shame, really.

I had to change my spelling of "available"! I wrote "failable" the first time.............

Anyway, plan the skit? What are you talking about!? There'll be plenty of time for the in the 12 hours before the skit!

We'll need to know who just posted on the thread and who is ACTUALLY going to help us up on stage. Just come up with some good jokes and situations that'll come from Kefka attacking (or maybe stumbling upon) the Returners. We may not have Neko's Mobile Emporium with us, though if my 3rd costume is finished then I'll insist upon it.

If you absolutely must discuss it then come visit Pezcat and I at the registration table Friday night! I suggest that all the FF6 cosplayers touchbase with us as soon as they get there.

Also, when are we planning on having our photoshoot fun? What day will that be? I'm voting for Saturday, myself.

And...um...Friday night? I won't be showing up at the con until Saturday. Probably around 10:30 or so (I work at a cartoon website and have to watch the new episodes...plus I'm not coherent until around then anyway)

And I just discovered a setback in my Kefka costume. The two pairs of 'stockings' I got turned out to be tights instead, which means I can't use them. (I was going to put one color stocking on one leg and the other on the other, but now...hell, unless you have a good way of wearing basically two pairs of pantyhose at the same time...Tom, I'm looking in your direction...)

Does anyone know where I can get STOCKINGS (real ones) for cheap?

Yea.....I also am wondering what time this'll take place. Not only that....but who's still in the group? o_O Or did people back out? Cause I'm totally bringing my Esper. I didn't get regular Terra done in time though.

It sounds like (unless there was other discussion I'm unaware of) that we're doing this on Saturday with a possible encore on Sunday for a skit.

But don't worry, you aren't being ditched out on.  I packed my Locke outfit last night at about midnight.
