Computar doodles update 4-13-10
« on: April 06, 2010, 10:54:19 pm »
If everyone here who posts their pictures please use this code? It'll down size your pictures enough so there's no page streching and load time is decreased please and thank you.
Code: [Select]

Note for the code, there IS a space between IMG and WIDTH, leave it there or the tags wont work.

So, Pots, NARUNIK, and I got a tiny bit off-topic, so it was segusted we make this : D

So, here is one of my computar doodles.

SPEAKING OF TABLETS. I found my pen recently so I've been practice doodling on it.

An inprogress doodle of me and my friends' cosplay projects are. The ones in the middle are Poke'mon, I guess it got erased~

IS IT JUST ME OR ARE SMALL FACIAL DETAILS MUCH HARDER TO ACCOMPLISH ON A TABLET THAN ON PAPER? :O

So what kind of tablet are you planning to get?  I would assume a Wacom.  I recommend getting an Intuos if you can afford it.  My wife loves hers.  I also will say that inking and scanning your work then using Photoshop and Illustrator to do color, shading, and detail background, is the way to go.

If all goes well, my wife should be running a Photoshop panel at KumoriCon this year.  I hope to see you all there.  I will probably post something about what you want to see at the panel in another thread later.   :-\

I've put links to my wife's stuff on here before, but I'll show you a couple of her doodles:

I think he wants her to let the super saiyan/red chakra of her drawing power out. Top notch, but can you push the limits?

I've drawn my best pics of Turbo Charger (my original superhero) and yet I still don't feel up to par with most of the manga I've read. I know one of the improvements I need is to draw bigger and without notebook lines, on a drawing tablet like I've done a couple of times now.

dose it matter? a tool of the trade is just that, a tool. I;m not ready for a tablet, it's like.. going from flats, to needle point high-heels, it's something that takes practice, practice I'm not quite ready for.

Jason, is that a request? or did I read that wrong? I can't draw duff dudes, only shounen/shounen-ai/girly looking males, stuff like that.

No, I was only asking in behalf of nik if you could draw better than your best.

I personally feel that if I'm given a challenge to draw something I've never done before, I end up putting more effort into it than my average stuff. I think that's why I'm running into a cartoonist's block, no motivation to push farther, and no one to depend on me to get it done.

I heard muscle talk. Since I draw superheroes, I actually feel for the shape of my own muscles and draw them. Circles for the shoulders, ovals for the biceps, upper and lower legs But not all strong characters have to have the largest arms in the world (unless you're drawing Hulk Hogan), they could have some muscle yet also be slim and lean, like they were built for speed.

A knowledge of anatomy and some practice in life drawing really helps.  We just picked up one at the Eugene Library book sale for a couple of bucks that would have cost us over $100 new.  My wife has one of those fully articulated Spiderman dolls that she poses for difficult positions.  It costs a lot less than one of those wooden articulated dolls they sell in art supply stores, and as any animator will tell you, a mirror is the best way to practice facial features.   ;D   >:(   :P   :-\   ;)   :-*

Lol I love using a mirror, I take pictures of my ugly mug when I do poses, or I make faces at the paper and draw how it feels.

I'm terrible at the male anatomy, they all still look like girls, save the one buff man that's the gym teacher.

Have you thought about using SAI? I have a cracked copy of it.

I have ArtRage which is similar but it doesn't work/plug in to anime studio pro like illustrator or draw does.

Thank you. Sadly much has been put on hold until I can purchase Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw to vector the images.

So Imposer12, are you going to attend my wife's panel on using vector in Adobe Illustrator at KumoriCon this year?  It's called Vector Me Anime and it is on Saturday.   ;D

Perhaps. I have taken classes for adobe illustrator via CCC-OR City But there is much more I would like to learn. First. I'd need to clean tons of disc space (old/primitive art pieces and software not regularlly used before continuing the anime-ish projects. An upgrade to the graphics card wouldn't hurt either.

Bakuman is a pretty good anime.  It is pretty much a training manual for aspiring mangaka.  Gets into some of the nuts and bolts of the manga industry and what is required to become a manga artist.  I recommend it.   ;D

Not really computer doodles, but I painted myself and my friend each a pair of shoes and I'm pretty proud of them. I could have done a few things better but I think overall they look pretty cool.

Lord of the Rings pair

Harry Potter pair (mine <3)

I can't post the pictures themselves because they're, uh... pretty big xD

It's acrylic paint mostly, and I used a few other things to achieve what looks I wanted... Mainly other colored inks, but I used clear nail polish mixed with with pigments to achieve the glimmer (that you can't really see in the pictures unfortunately) with the Silver Doe on the Harry Potter shoes. Not very professional but... they were for me so I didn't care xD

doujinshi is amateur manga. See the series Genshiken to get a better idea. Yes, you can even draw yaoi!, of famous characters! lol
