Right now... UGH. I don't remember the name. But it's... About. JAPAN. -dies- D: I'msostupid. AllIeverreadaboutisJapan. It's about some missionaries that go over to Japan in the 1800's, and one of them gets shot in the stomach... Then there's some fudal lords having a big ol civil war.... But it's good.

And there's another series of The Otori (Haha, Japan again!). I'm on the 2nd book, Grass For His Pillow. :D It's realllly good, I'd reccomend it.

I actually read very little manga, unless you count anime style webcomics! Heh.

Right now I'm re-reading Harry Potter for when the next book comes out.

Right now I'm re-reading Harry Potter for when the next book comes out.

July 16th my friend.   :D

I'm also re-re-reading the Harry Potter series.  I started reading it awhile ago during my trip in Japan, finished it, didn't have any other good books on me that I haven't already read, and started reading the series again.
Hey, commuting on the train takes awhile.

Right now I'm on the fifth book around chapter 13.  I figure at the pace I'm going I'll finish the book again just in time for book 6.

I'm supposed to be reading manga, as are all of you! *Glares at you*

That said, I'm not. :( I'm trying to read Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk and the old Ace compilation of Conan stories from Robert E. Howard (the original!), L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter.

@Neko_chan and Kei-Kei
Yeah, the movie I wasn't too happy with either.  Still I thought it was better than the other two, at least worth matching again.  I'm almost looking forward to the fourth just to see how it turned out.  All together, I've seen all three movies three times.
(All together for the Simpson's quote: "I have directed four plays and have had four heart attacks."  Sorry, had to get that out of my system.)

There is one Japanese manga that I'm also reading on the side.  It's called "Wonderful III" (roman numerals).  Have any of you ever looked at or bought one of those "Manga Artist Portfolio" artbooks?  The 2nd one has a lot of cat girls, the 3rd has artwork with a kind of watercolor feel to it, the fourth one is of different artists, etc.  Well the person who did the 3rd one, Renga, drew this series.  It's, I guess, an official side comic of his own version of the anime "Kanon."  I really like it and surprisingly prefer it to the original artwork.

Currently I read manga pretty much everyday.

I read Newtype when it arrives, and I just read the last issue of Animerica (Subscription anyways...) I will ever get (*sob sob*).

For manga, I am working on trying to finish up Angel Sanctuary, and I have started Fruits Basket.

For fun, on Saturday I reread all of Love Hina. :D

I dun think so...I can't quite remember and I am missing a few manga/animes.  I think the anime at least, has the same basic plot but some various changes due to the different format.  I do remember that the OAV was exactly like manga except it was rushed and then didn't do the last two volumes of the manga.

@Kurimono
The movies are worth at least one watch (I think) if you're curious about how they interpreted the book.  But if you don't have that in mind, I don't think they're really worth watching.  I don't remember the first one since I only saw it when it came out awhile ago but I remember the second wasn't that good and left a lot of blanks.
The third is regarded as the best so far.  It has a darker feeling to it.  It was the only Harry Potter movie that I felt I'd be willing to watch again.  However, like the others, there were a lot of holes in the plot, unexplained things, and the order of events was waaaaaaaay off.  Those who have seen the movie probably know what I'm talking about.

@shadowfox
Yes, the anime and manga are different.  They do follow the same plot idea though; Keitaro and Naru trying to get into Tokyo University.  But like DNAngel there are some differences.  Example, that one guy, Koutaro I think his name is in the anime, doesn't appear at all in the manga.
Love the manga, not wild about the anime, especially the dubbed version.  Listened to it dubbed for 3 seconds, switched back, and never switched back to dub for that series.

Kentaro you mean. He doesn't exist at all. Hitani and Shirai get alot more screentime in the anime. In fact, in one panel of the manga they point that out, too. LOL.

The anime is different because Love Hina hadn't finished when they made it. The whole Love Hina Again covers, roughly, volumes 11 and 12, I believe. When Kanako first appears. Although, she leaves after that, which is different, because in the manga she stays there to study for Toudai.

The dubbed version of Love Hina isn't too bad. I've seen alot worse dubs in my life. They kept alot of the dialogue accurate, aswell.

I thought the 3 old men in the anime were quite funny.  they would pop in out of nowhere with some sort of comments.   another difference that I just remembered is how shinobu is introduced.

Finished up Angel Sanctuary. Splitting my reading time between Fruits Basket and Zettai Kareshi. Oh, and when new chapters of stuff I read come out, I tend to get them.

Particularly Bleach, Death Note, Mahou Sensei Negima, Full Metal Alchemist, Ichigo 100%, Inu Neko Jump, Koi Kaze, Mahoraba, Naruto, One Piece, and a few others.

I like to keep up to date on what I watch and read when it comes to anime and manga. :D

at the moment i'm reading 3 different series from 3 different authors. first. the Witchworld series by Andre Norton(she will be missed). Second, I'm reading the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey, and finally, I'm re-reading the Darkover series by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

I own every book that they have written as well as over 300 books by other authors. i think its safe to say that im nearly as bad as Yomiko Readman. maybe i'll reach bibliophile status someday.

I Highly recommend theese authors to anyone who loves fantasy.

as for manga. a friend of mine has convinced me to read Fake.  *shudders* And i'm re-reading DearS 1-3
2008 Kumoricon costumes:

Cap'n Power(Applegeeks)...maybe
Mousse(Ranma ½)

Yes I do. :D

I stormed through chapter one, but, since I stayed up all night so I could be the first one in line, I was tired, and went to sleep after the first chapter.

Ill continue reading later.

If you want no feedback, you shouldn't have even posted then.

Skipping the first two chapters was idiotic. Because, it pretty much continues from the last book, with plent of valid information.

Bad move on your part. :D

Bought it when it came out at midnight in the stores, read part of it that night, went to sleep, woke up early, spent the entire day reading it, then finished reading the story before I went to bed the next night (last night).

...loved every part of it.

I went to get it at midnight too... ._. I felt so STUPID. ._. There where about 7 or 8 other people dressed up, mostly small children in black bathrobes, and I had brought my camera beacuse I thought it would be bigger and more people would dress up like the PoA movie at Midnight, and I saw people from my school there, and they where people... Well, lets say they don't hang out with people like 'me'. Anyway, I was reading manga and they passed me, and they where like "Ohmygawd, that's Caroline, what a loser!" ._. They made me feel very bad.
But I was waiting in line, and I was number 164. TT__TT There was a guy inback of me, and he leaned in and smelt my hair.

Damnit... Weirdos in Corvallis.

I've already read to chapter 6, on the way to and from Portland for the Meeting, and I'd hope this is going to answer some of our questions...

BUT DAMN ME AND MY EYES. D:< I just had to read the first paragraph of the last chapter. TT__TT I DO NOT want anyone else to do this!!! Don't! Ever! Until you've finished the chapter preceeding it! Do not read it! D< I will come after you if you tell me you've read it!

I bought the book at midnight too.  There was a huge amount of people there O_O but most had prepaid.

There were some really good costumes too.  There was a Trewlany, and a Remus, and a Lucious, and a Pettigrew, and of course plenty of students including me and my sister.

I already finished the book though and wasn't all that impressed. Though I was expecting a lot of it.

I havn't read mine yet, though I got it in the mail last week.

Lets see, I have some books coming from amazon.com that I will read, including the complete Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis that HarperCollins published last year. Hardcopy, of course. :D

And Through The Ice by Robert Kornwise, whom actually died before completing the book. It was finished by Piers Anthony. Great book, check it out if ya can. :D

Oh, and of course, various manga that I read. Currently I am making my way through Vagabond, by Inoue Takehiko, a WONDERFUL manga about the life of Miyamoto Musashi, based on the novel Musashi. Inoue Takehiko is most known for his work Slam Dunk (which I am also a fan of).

Burned through 19 volumes of Vagabond in a day and a half, then I read Through The Ice.

I read a few volumes of Video Girl Ai earlier, as I am re-reading it.

I have alot of stuff to read, that I havn't read. But I swore to myself I would re-read it, so, I am going to get it out of the way.

LOL@that Naruto/Harry Potter image.

I'd love to see Harry and Sasuke on an image fighting over who has more Angst. :D

The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis.

A compilation of each of the books, published by HarperCollins last year and hardbound with a sweet dust cover with a beautiful Lion on the cover (Supposed to be Aslan, I believe).

I'm re-reading all of it so I can prepare to complain about the differences between it and the live versions. The first of which is due out in theateres in December (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, GO SEE THE TRAILER!).

The book is published not by the order the books were published, but by the chronological order C.S. Lewis states they should be read in. So, even thought The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was published first, The Magician's Nephew is the first book in the compilation.

It's an excellent book, and any fan of Narnia or Harry Potter should pick it up. It Retail's for 30 bucks, and its a good time all around.

:D :D :D

GO BUY IT NOW.

Don't believe him!
Read them in the order they came out and you get a much cooler story overall without losing any character progression!
It's only a two book difference in order, A Horse and His Boy is after the Silver Chair and THEN the Magician's Nephew, take the risk!
It's OLD SCHOOL.
