Hmm ... I'm not sure that would drape right, and it would be hard to find a sweater long enough (chain mail usually goes at least to mid-thigh) but I'll definitely keep that in mind. You don't need to do anything for me, but thank you for offering!

I looked it up. Arthur did wear authentic chain-mail; the rest of the cast wore silver-painted wool. It didn't say they were sweaters, but they probably were a loose knit. (But you also have to remember that on film it's a lot harder to see when something is authentic or not, and same with on stage. I'm going to be walking around, and people will be able to see it close up.)

I can be a bit picky about my cosplays. If I don't have the time/resources to do it well, I won't do them at all. For example, I ran out of time for the one I wanted to do last year, and while I could have done the rest of it quickly, it would have been really shoddy, so I put it off until k-con 2010. I'd rather alter the costume to not have any chain mail than wear chain mail that looks obviously fake. (It's not just vanity, either - you don't want your costume falling apart halfway through the day, and wearing a more authentic costume allows you to be more in-character.)

I wish we could make a list like a lot of threads do, that shows all the characters we don't have, so if people wander in here who haven't been following the thread, they might pick someone we don't already have tons of...? Except the Hetalia cast is so huge with so many minor characters, it might not work. :/
