Your first sewing project
« on: September 13, 2009, 11:29:44 am »
for those of us that make our costumes Im curios, what was your first cosplay sewing project?

for me it was Peach. me and my friend Macy worked on it together but we had no outside help beyond the occasional question to her mom. All in all for first time sewing I'm VERY proud of it even if I know its not a great costume :3

My first sewing project was the small paopu fruit I made for the keyblade I didn't have for Kairi... my second one was a bigger paopu fruit that my Shadow Sora carried around. X3 I did both by hand. I didn't do any actual sewing on any of my costumes I've wore though. :\ I've just helped cut fabric and stuff.

Well, my first project was for a Sailor Mercury school uniform, but all I made was the shirt (and damn was it bad).

The first project I did all myself, and actually put effort into, was my Rose Bride dress.  Hell of a first project, I have to say *phew*

I think my first "full" one if I don't end up buying most of it will be RAVE!Kairi. Mainly cause my mom looked at me like I was insane for wanting a pleated skirt (which might change if I can't figure out where to put zippers)

The first thing I ever made was a vest for my boyfriends Issac costume at Kumoricon '08 It was ugly and terrible and I had no help whatsoever. Then I went and asked my mom to teach me and I made my White Mage costume all by myself minus her vocal guidance on things. I'm pretty proud of my work so far.
WHY DO THE FORUMS SUCK SO BAD?

My first cosplay sewing project was done by hand. The character was Soi Fon from Bleach.  However, I officially consider this year's cosplay costume as my first sewing project...with a darn sewing machine!! ^_^ I really don't know how to sew...I just wing it by trial and error. My costume was a black alternate Chun Li from Street Fighter IV. And I'm actually quite proud that it came out nice. It also made me happy to get nice comments @ the con too. ^_^ The worst part was sewing 3 ft of bias tape onto costume satin... oh boy~

And so it begins...

Didn't actually make anything...Just hemmed a bunch of my stuff, like the suit for Sven.

But I'm gonna have to make most--if not all--my cosplays this year...

First project I ever did on a machine was Minawa Andou's summer maid outfit.

The apron came out pretty good, but the dress... Yeah, when I do cosplay commissions for people, I use that as an example of something really, really bad.
lol peer pressure

Plans:
Kumoricon '11: Catherine (Catherine), Nanami (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
Sakuracon '12: Ryfia (Arc Rise Fantasia), other things

The outfit for Zim. It was really well done, but because of the video that was posted, bad quality at that, people are like OMG IT'S THE WORST COSTUME EVER simply because of my makeup and/or I didn't use a printed out mask of Zim's face. I'm still ticked at that.

Can I see a picture of your Peach? :3
Red Mage at heart.
