Author Topic: Portland Pirate Festival Sept. 19th & 20th, 2009 in Cathedral Park, St. Johns (Read 17479 times)

Arrgh! Would anyone have the boots to meet at the festival or meet down at the Waterfront and catch a bus up there? Entry is $15 for 13 and up, and 12 n' under is $8. Though St Johns is a journey, and two days long, we will be riding up on the 19th. Pirate cosplay is encouraged, though other cosplays can be shanghai'd into our crew as well. "Can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?"

We gather at Pioneer Courthouse Square at 10:00 and sail at 11:00. Since Fareless Square has gone to Davy Jones, it's best to have enough for an all day pass or a pass up and back. Once up there, we may stay until fit to leave. The last event ends at 8, and the last band stops playing at 9.

I say it every year, and I mean it every time. I really want to attend this this year. I love pirates and have always wanted to have my pirate day.

My main treasure fer going is to check out the PDX Yar game club booth. They play a pirates pocketmodel game that's long since dropped from its owning company, and also have Epic Scale models. Homemade replicas 5 times the size of the big-as-your-palm boats, made specifically for play at the festival. Jason Silverheart will make his appearance and lead this rag-tag crew below the bridge to the weird and haunted shores of rivers end.

This would be awesome! I would love to go, and maybe I can drag a few others to join. I could probably put together something for this. Maybe even do Roxas as a pirate, or better yet, Mai as a one!!!

arrgh yes. twould be a shocking treasure to see ye chest unlocked. >_< What if ye were to wear a peach colored shirt? All fear the crossplaying Ace! Though Shadow Clone Luffy would also be double trouble. Ayyye I be bringin' ninja tricks to a piratical event?? Ahh they won't know the difference. The only rumdrunk parrot on me shoulder left is getting everyone home, or possibly crash at someone's house in Portland until day two.

Also take heed that the 19th is national pirate talk day!

As promised I found two straw hats, one for me and one for the Luffy-chan that needs one. If anything there will be three Luffy's. Myself, and my two lovely bodyguards to prevent any possible assassination of the pirate king.

Well, build what ye can and say you're the shipwrecked sailor that we found on our way up. Not all be wearing pirate garb at the P.P.P. This be a journey in which cosplay is grand to have, but not required.

Arrgh! The epic hurricane of three days has passed. Any who wish to press on to the festival, rise north with me! Pioneer Courthouse Square is central to all MAX lines. Those that wish to journey from downtown will gather here and catch the 4 bus up. Bring enough booty fer a round trip. Those that wish to go elseways, it be under the St. John's bridge.

Darn friend taking her first trapeze lesson on the 19th and not being able to meet me that day... -shakes fist-
I guess I can try and help break the world record on the 20th while I'm there. Gah! Now I have to find/make an eye patch and a sword!

Arrgh! If fortune calls me up to the festival once more on the 20th, then alas I must away at 6:00 to make it in time for the DragonForce concert that night.

In fact, would half of me crew be able to join me at the Roseland Theater (on the MAX yellow line now) and either come inside to hear their thunder or lurk outside and catch an ear-thanking whisper of them?

And remember, the 19th is talk like a pirate day. So bring on yer buccaneer blabber and leave ye curses at home with ye dogs.

I actually went to this once and did not have a lot of fun. There was like nothing to do, and it cost way to much in my opion. I still might go this year, to see if it's improved any, and maybe if I went with this group I'd have fun.

The main reason I came last year was to check out the PDX Yar Epic Scale game and play in the normal scaled tournaments among other events. But this year should be no different other than to have randomness among ye cosplayers occur. Avast! Rum "soda" bottle glomp circle is abound!

Forgive the double post...

I have what ye need. My eyepatch will be that of a red scarf of cloth, and me sword is the finest I've ever made. I'll have another strip o' cloth and a mighty blade to be at your side.

I shall be coming by a white voyager, dressed in a black coat and hat. Weather tells of a shower 'er two, though luckily we'll be under the bridge.

AYE!! Git on board ya swabs!! we assemble at pioneer square this morning at 10 and leave at 11. The festival goes from 10-8 tonight. It also runs tomorrow but the exciting treasure to be found is today.

Look for a wondrous mess of cosplayers and pirates. At 11 we march a block and catch the 4 up. At 8 we catch it back.

Current count including you makes our crew a total of 10.

So, I'll be leaving here about 9 D: So is it possible for me to give/get some contact information if I'm running late getting up there? Portland is difficult for me to navigate.

BTW, I'll be dressed as a pirate! Big gaudy necklace, off the shoulder blouse, pirate boots, black pants, red scarf belt bag. Pirate hat with BIG RED FEATHAR. XD

I got there just before 11 also, and it was RAINING!! AND our meet up spot was the crowded finish line for a portland marathon. So I went up and met two of my crew up there, took home a big flag, it was all fun. Couldn't come on day two thought. Next year, next year.

I was there on day two, and yes, for anybody wondering, we did break the record. We had 1,600-and-some. It was amusing to stand around for three hours in a crowded, sun blistering group of people who are putting their kids on their shoulders so that they can kick you in the back of the head while they try to see the performances...I guess not everyone can be like me and watch it through the earring hoop of the man standing in front of ya. =)
