I was bored so I drew out my plan for Eve's outfit. I was worried, but now I'm feeling more optimistic about it. I just need to get myself some muslin to practice on, then some pink rayon.
Speaking of which, has anyone here used rayon before? I want to be a fancy pants and make Eve's costume out of rayon since it was a popular fabric in the 30's for women's clothing. I'm just worried I won't have any clue how to use it or what kind of thread to get.

Yes we are. I'm still not sure when. I don't have time to plan it with all of my school work that is going on. I'll have time to work it out during my spring break but that will defiantly push it back a bit into later April if I wait that long.

So yeah...just give me a bit to figure out what is going on.

So the base dress I bought for Chane should be arriving either today or tomorrow.... then I just need to go to JoAnns to buy some nice black trim to get that detailing she has along the top of the bust and the straps. I'm excited for it to get here so I can finally just have Chane 100% finished. =]

My base dress I ordered for Chane arrived today (I know my limits, there was no way I was going to learn how to make that dress from scratch...) and it is AMAZINGGGG!!!! It's practically perfect, all I need to do is raise the hem to about mid-calf, do the detailing on the top and straps, add the black rose to the corner of the bust, and finally pick up the black gloves that I need. Ohhhhh I'm super pumped for this! =]

It was just some random black dress that I found on Ebay..... I need to take a better picture of it, but I have a quick crappy one from when I threw it on yesterday. =]

You can't tell from the picture but it goes all the way down to the ground, so I'll have to get that hemmed along with adding the details up top.

Well, at the HDC meet last night, we were watching Baccano, and it's the scene with Jacuzzi getting beat up, right?
So Selucos (Pat) turns to me and says:
'I would so be Donny'
In response I reply:
'As we already have Nice and Jacuzzi, all we'd need is a Nick and we could have the whole team... Wait, I could pull off Nick just fine with some fake facial hair...'
So, I've been convinced from being Mary, to being Nick from Jacuzzi and Nice's team.
Yay for fake facial hair :3

Bought fabric for Czes today (and then found out I'm not going to SAK, so that could have waited, darn it). It's an insanely nice wool but damn did it dent my debit card. Forty dollars and that was HALF PRICE. Oi. Good thing this jacket is getting a lot of use.

Been focusing mainly on other cosplays since Chane is almost completely finished, but I got my contacts today which is pretty exciting. They are a little browner than her natural eye color, but it was the only golden/brown eye color available at the place I went to, and I was too nervous to order online for my first set.

Anywho hoping to get the dress hemmed sometime this week, my Spring Break pretty much starts Monday so I'll be able to really start turning things out these next two weeks before con. =]

I'll be working on Czes over spring break. I have to make the jacket, recolor the hat, and fix a collared shirt to be a less collared shirt. (Technical terms, whoo!) I can't afford a new one so I'm gonna mod. Also dunno if I'll be dying my sweatervest to a darker tan or not yet. We'll see.

And those eyes. IIIIII wiiiiiiiill geeeeet brown contaaaaaaaacts.

Eventually. That last detail will prolly be for kumoricon rather than the meetup. Gotta spread my spending out as thinly as possible. I've been super stoked for Baccano! cosplay though since my murder shoot in the hallway. XD So hilarious.

THIS. I was going to get gold contacts this month but then I realized I need all of my money for fabric to finish the jacket and hat

Not 100% sure if I'm actually going to use my contacts for Chane or not, they are almost TOO brown for my liking (they work perfectly for my other two cosplays which is why I didn't try and order a lighter pair, and I didn't want to spend the money on two seperate pairs...) so some time this week I'll pop one of them bad boys in on one eye and post a comparison to see what you all think looks better (natural color or contacts.)

Also got my gloves today, and my dress will officially be ready for attatching all the lovely detailing Monday evening. =]

I'm re-dying my pants for Rachel today
also....I found a jacket from when I was little that looks EXACTLY like Rachels!
....except it's dark blue T_T it also has a hood but that could be easily removed.

I think I'm going to try and dye it, the only problem being that if I dye this jacket then whatever I use to make the hat won't be the same shade of green.
oh well, if dying doesn't work then I'll just cut it up and use it as a pattern to make a new jacket.

I dunno if Dark Blue will dye to Khaki green but you could try. You'd probably have to attempt to bleach it first but I wouldn't advise that >.>

Color remover is your best bet of using that jacket but I think the lightest you'll get it is a lighter blue... depends what the jacket is made of.

At least you have it to make a pattern out of.

This path is sounding increasingly familiar to what I have gone through with Czeslaw's jacket... hmmmmmmmm.... >.>

lol oh Baccano jackets...why must you be so common yet at the same time so hard to replicate?
eh it's made of nylon, the box says it should still work fine but I have a feeling I shouldn't waste the money :/
though I'm still worried that my green fabric might be just slightly off...what do you guys think? it feels like it's too...vibrant I guess.

I'd agree that it is too vibrant :\ Rachel has more of a kahki color. Perhaps you should try using color remover on that to get it to dull a little? I'm not good with dying things though.
