Hilton Hotel: Checking in and out.
« on: August 28, 2009, 09:45:25 pm »
Just a bit of a random question for the more experienced hotel-stayers.

The hilton has check-in at 4pm, and check-out at noon.

So, I'm assuming this means, you check in sometime after 4pm, and check out sometime before noon?

Or would check-in before before 4pm as well?

Just trying to get my info straight so I don't do something wrong and get hit with extra fees, and/or another night charged to me. >.<

Typically, with most hotels, it's you can check-in anytime after, and you need to check-out before.  So, checking into the Hilton at 6pm is not going to be an issue.

If you need to check-in before or check-out after the stated time, you need to contact the hotel directly and see if it's a possibility.

A lot of hotels offer early Check-in or will at least hold your bags/luggage until you can check in to your room.

Same deal for checking out, most the time you can check out of your room and they will hold your stuff at luggage check until you leave.

This has been the case for most the hotels I've stayed at but they might have a different policy. Either way calling the hotel in advance to sort things out and get the details on their policies wouldn't be a bad idea.

I called the hotel earlier about this and what they said is that if a room is available you can check in early, if not you can do what they called a "pre-check in" where they take your bags and do the whole process of you checking in but you get the keys and can go up to your room after 4.

You usually have a couple hours leway each way.
If you're a bit late checking in and checking out shouldn't be too much of a problem.

While checking out late is sometimes not a problem, I wouldn't suggest it without first talking to the hotel about it because they can and will charge you for it if they see fit.

Checking in late is no problem at all, you just might not get the room you reserved because of overbooking (not sure if this hotel does that, but I know a LOT of hotels do). I personally always try to check in as early as I possibly can to get the best (lowest level, closest to elevator) room I can.

You may want to check your mirrors as well then,  I actually did have a motel I was staying at that had a mirror that when I put my finger to the glass it touched!   :o  This is how you check for a one-way mirror, if there is a gap between your finger and the reflection of your finger (the width of the glass) then it is a normal mirror.  Needles to say we slept with a blanket draped over the mirror.  True story.  I don't remember the exact motel, but it was near the Seattle SEATAC.  I recommend always checking the mirrors in your motel/hotel, especially if it is a cheap one.  ;)
