I have to agree, he would be a perfect Light. I saw 17 Again today, and it only further solidified my idea of Zack Efron as Light. Not that I'm counting on it happening, but I really do think he would do the role to perfection.

I honestly think most of the people who have a problem with him, don't actually have a problem with him...they have a problem with his most famous movies - High School Musical. I hate those movies with every fiber of my being, but it won't stop me from seeing the skill he genuinely has as an actor, something I am learning increasingly every day lately.

And yes, Lillard is Shaggy. He's just such a psychotic goofball, I think he would fit the role well.

I just wanted to say, thank you. I've been saying the same exact thing all along and it's really cool to hear it from someone who admits to hating High School Musical. Quite frankly, I believe actors and movies should be judged seperately, and from what you've said you're doing just that for Zac Efron.

Anyway, I agree on that too. Zac Efron would be able to play the role wonderfully, for all the reasons I've listed in the past. Hopefully he gets it, if he doesn't then oh well.~

Zefron is out of Death Note's league? If anything Death Note is out of Zefron's league.

Edit: I meant the reversed, lol! My point was that Zefron is a mainstream, well-known teen idol whereas Death Note is unknown outside of the nerd fandom. We'd be lucky to get Zefron aboard~

You have to admit, the resemblance is oddly good... Minus the eyes, he'll need to wear contacts.

I'm kinda worried about the storyline more. Are they going for the original, or the movie one?

God this is going to suck so hard. XP The people who wrote and directed those crap movies XP God come on Hollywood..... I liked the originals but the American versions

I don't mind if Zac what ever his name plays Light, if he can act like Light then I'm fine with him. Because you never know what hidden talent actors have. But the writers and director UGH!!! Makes me want to bash my head against a wall. Oh well there's no way of stopping Hollywood once they make up there mind XP lol. Let's just pray they'll stay true to the manga story line rather than the Japanese movies. Loved the movies, but I thought they could of had a better ending

Respecting all opinions, I think he'd work fine for being Light. I've seen a few movies with him and he can definately do personality changes in his acting. :3

Though, all I wonder about it that crazy laugh he does... I just can't imagine Zac doing something as crazy as that. I mean, I've heard his laugh before I believe and it wouldn't make too much sense, I don't think. .____.;

I think he looks the part, but even if the movie is just a rumor, I would be interested in seeing him do the part, but if its a 'death nnote musical' I'm gonna cry! I think a lot of people are making the mistake of thinking he's Zac Efron so he only does musicals. That's not the case, and just because he's been in a couple musicals certainly doesn't mean everything he does in the future must be also. Death Note the Musical? That's not even a twinkle in the eye of anyone working on the movie, lol

Well, I have yet to see the anime all the way through, so I don't know what this Light laugh is people are mentioning, though I imagine it is terribly maniacal, yes? I've only read the manga, and there's no sounds in thur.

Okay just to be blunt: Why do you think that?

Is it because he's "Mister High School Musical" and that he's a disney person? Quite frankly he's one of the more talented actors I've seen since he can portray emotion well and it's just a bonus that he can sing.

And then if you want to go further he has done a serious film, "17 Again". I've never seen it but from those who have I've heard nothing but good things so far. So I really want to know why you're making it sound like an apocolypse when they could definately choose a much worse actor.

Besides, if he gets the part I might actually watch it. I'm really interested to see how the character would fall into place, since I have confidence he could do it.

Personally I think plenty of people are talented enough to play ANY of the characters in Death Note. Actors/Actoresses here are truly amazing, just as they are anywhere else. Judging by country for that is dumb. That's why I only point blame at the producers since they're the ones in charge.

Personally, I have no qualms about the actors.
If they can accurately portray a character, good job, if they can blow me away in a role, even better.
