Author Topic: KC '08 Late night panel: Crossplay--UNTUCKED! (Read 8668 times)

Hi folks. I'm going to be one of the moderators for a panel at this year's KC. Right now we have a late night time slot on Saturday at 12:30AM in the Mt. St. Helens/Workshop room.

The subject crossplay: female to male and male to female cosplaying of favorite characters. This will be a laid back panel, discussing how we got into crossplay, how long etc. And we'll cover a variety of subjects:

makeup
choosing a character
funny stories
being in character
binding, and since this will be late night we may discuss tucking as well
Comments in the past: good and bad
and much more

Plus we'll answer questions, and probably include a photo slide show of our crossplays. We're not experts but we do have some experience on the subject. But other crossplayers can help us too if they wish. Since it is late night we can be less restrictive with what to talk about and be more playful with our dialogue, but it will still be respectful (that means attendees too--probably will have a Yojimbo there just in case).

I won't have an actual crossplay costume thanks to a mishap at Sakura Con, but I do have all my rudimentary implements. I might get into some sort of appropriate outfit since it's so late at night and I'll already be out of my only planned costume. The panel might be useful for choosing a new crossplay to replace the old one which is no more...

I'm glad it'll be a little more laid back; I just hope people don't take the "untucked" part TOO literally. O_o; (j/k)

Well, thanks to all who came and popped their head into the crossplay panel, although many were our friends anyway. We apologize that we started somewhat late. We didn't have the proper setup and equipment in the room and had to move around the room so that we can use a microphone that worked. We'll try it again next year (if you'd like) and at a hour a little earlier maybe with the right equipment (nudge nudge KC staff).

Still it was good, somewhat risque fun.

I'm sorry I didn't manage to go.

I was totally sore from wearing chain mail all day.

By the way, one or two teenagers came up to me and mentioned that they wished there'd been a regular crossplay panel, too. If you're interested and think the turnout would be high enough, you might wanna consider doing both next year.

Yay! I was under 18 this year but as long as it's next year too, I'm sure I'll be there and probably in crosplay. ^___^

I heard about this and was really sad that I couldn't go because of being underaged. And I won't be 18 for a few more years...

I would love to have a crossplay panel for everyone! I sure could use the help ^_^

Right now it looks like I'll be wearing Link on Saturday (for the Masquerade Ball etc.), so I may be coming in plainclothes if this is happening Saturday evening. But I'll still come even if I don't think it's worth the bother to change. Do you need any help with the panel? I can offer what moderate experience I have.

You'd probably make a good Ash, but I'm looking more forward to your Ryofu Housen cosplay. She makes me laugh, not nearly as much as Hakufu, but for a villian, she amuses me. Are you learning some fighting techniques to make some of your poses more impressive? I'd recommend it if you haven't. (I did it when I was Ranma).
