I apologize for the late notice, but tomorrow is the fourth annual Teen Anime Fest being held at the Tigard Public Library. This year's theme is J-Pop. Anyone is welcome to come and drop by at any time. Anime movies will be playing along with the chance to play video games. Come for Japanese-related snacks, origami, caligraphy, drawing, contests/raffles, J-Pop karaoke, and candy sushi. Remember to cosplay and enter the cosplay contest!

And just to give a tl;dr description:
What: Tigard Library's Annual Teen Anime Fest
When: 2-6 pm ; Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Where: Tigard Public Library http://www.tigard-or.gov/library/default.asp (Address, phone number, and map)
Why: To celebrate fans of anime/manga in the Tigard-Portland area.

No notice is too late for me, not even the night before. I'm bringing Inuyasha along and there's nothing that can stop me, not even the heat. Is Kagome coming as...Kagome?

Grr the only thing I have left for 110% Inuyasha is the white cover for Tetsusaiga.

I survived. I came around 3 and unknowingly walked right past the conference room the event was in.
The contest had some good appearances, Inuyasha got some fans, and they showed some cool movies.

How was it for everyone else?

I enjoyed it, as usual. I've been going since it first started back in 2006. d: I got to catch up with one of my good friends who I haven't seen in ages so we mostly talked. ^^
As I grow older I find it less appealing to do the events set up at the tables. I'm probably starting to out grow my library events, sad to say.

Well from what I saw, and the sign did say it was directed at middle school and high school ages, most of the kids there hadn't even heard about Kumoricon or any of the meets the forum members pull together. So the library events are kind of like the kick start to their growing fandom, while to some of us...it's just another great day to cosplay.

As I grow older I feel more and more uncertain that I'll be welcomed in a crowd of young fans.
Ironically I carried on a conversation with a girl there who didn't think there was anyone my age that would talk to someone like her. I guess it just shows that knowledge is power.

@TSJ: Yes, I did put it as "What: Tigard Library's Annual Teen Anime Fest", but I suppose there were a few people older than twelfth grade there. And yes, because most sixth/seventh graders just hear about it from friends. For me, the library is a second hoem so I attend most all of the teen events and have been on the Teen Library Council for the past three years.

@Alyssa: Totally! I would love to meet up with you again sometime before K-con. I hope you had a good trip. :3 I half-expected you or Vivian to come to it, but it was last minute and I was nervous to call your home phone and didn't have her number. ^^'

To be honest, I was kind of disappointed. I liked the free food and the fact that I could see my friends, and that's it. The Wii was kind of fun too, but there was only one game. I had more fun walking around Washington Square in full lolita.

Don't be afraid!~ Feel free to call whenever, and I'll do the same. My library is having an anime event in September, or October I can't remember at the moment, so I'll keep you updated on that so you can come! :3 And seeing you before K-Con would be awesome.~
