Seen it, Read it, Loved it, Loved it, Loved it, Planned to Tattoo it on myself. All that great stuff, lol.

No, I haven't reserved the DVD because there's no point, heh. I used to reserve DVD's and they would get to me later than if I had just went to the store and bought it on the day. So I don't do that anymore.

I also want to get the soundtrack, the figures. Pretty much everything, lol.

I think I'm the only person, like, ever who didn't like Rorschach. D: He needed to lay off the Nietzsche.

I haven't read it, though I do want to! I saw the movie, which I loved.

I think I am okay with not having read or bought the Watchmen as a graphic novel. It's too dark and depressing, been there done that, not going back to pick up a stupid t-shirt, thank you for playing. Seriously, what got me excited about comics, is not what they are going to be making a movie about. At least I don't think so. So don't worry about my opinion, eh?

We have to many people with Dr. Blue Boy's attitude about life as is, with or without super powers. And far too many Comedians. And seriously, do you think you would want to be hanging around the ink blot? Only it you are certifiable yourself.

Rorschach fits perfectly in the mold of the classic American detective fiction. Abuses drugs, has a questionable sexuality, not exactly defined, a very strict moral code, that does not necessarily conform to those of the society around him.

Have Fun

yes it is very dark, and i have always ALWAYS hated super hero movies... i hated batman, superman, flash, all thouse guys.

i was dragged into the movie and half the movie i spaced out... well not realy half... more like... first 15 minutes.

im still surprised i liked it.

i HATED the comidian from the start but was instantly atracted to rorschach? talk about ooodddd....

but yeah movie was first for me, then the grafic novel.

I'll say it...I love The Comedian. He knew what was up and revealed it to everyone, only to have nobody get "the joke", and then it killed him ultimately.

I felt strong sympathy for him from the beginning, and it only grew as the movie progressed. I mean honestly, how could you not feel for the guy in the scene where he meets Silk Specter II, and gets yelled at by SS I for talking to her, and he says "What? A guy can't talk to his d...friend's daughter?" You're a tough cookie if that didn't get to you, because it definitely touched me.

I love everything about Watchmen, but then again, I like my comics and movies dark. I like my superheroes flawed and broken. I like them this way. It's realistic in a world that creates way too many perfection-obsessed characters.

Somehow things break down for me to think to have flawed and broken super-powered characters. Wouldn't they all become super-villains instead? But maybe we have too many characters now. It took something like 10 years to have Superman and Captain Marvel, Batman not being a super-powered man, merely very well trained. Really, can you name another popular super-hero, who doesn't have super powers. Although you could make a case that money and lots of it is a super power of its own. Back in the '30s, when super heroes originated, most did not have super powers. Flash Gordon, had none, the Phantom had none, the Shadow, was semi-meta-physical, and only in the recent movie was something approaching super powers hinted.

So imagine yourself with super powers. perhaps super-strength. Can you imagine never hitting something in anger? What about flight? Say you went dancing, and hopped a little, wouldn't you hit the ceiling and cause damage that way? Say you had X-ray vision, wouldn't you get sued by lots of people claiming you were invading their privacy, whether you were or weren't. And wouldn't you be curious sometimes, and go ahead and look, knowing it was not legal or proper?

I'm not saying that humans couldn't handle super powers, but it is the rare exception not the rule, humans being flawed. Most people if given super powers would either be dead or in some more than maximum security prison. And oh so many with lawsuits up the yik-yak, it wouldn't be funny. Even if most suits were frivilous.

Have Fun

Jay

I appreciate flawed characters in fiction because it makes the experience much more real to me. I think that the Watchmen were "heroes" and not "villians", despite their many human errors to emphasize the fact that there is no black and white to justice, it's all shades of gray. Which is also evidenced when one considers the Oz man- his end goal was to save the world at large but he did so via means that could be considered contemptable (sacrificing all those people, much? :D)

I've only read the comic once and saw the movie once, so I can't remember it all perfectly. I do remember that I was surprised at how there was more gratuitous sfx than there was in the comic- I thought it'd be the other way around =,)

I totally agree with you, Oslapedo. I like how most of the Watchmen, being human, were incapable of portraying a black and white justice, it all got mixed up with most of them. The exclusion, of course, being Mr. Black-and-White - Rorschach. I love Rorschach, and it was his refusal to compromise, to always see things as black and white, that made me love him. Even knowing what he did about Ozymandias and how he had "saved" the world, he would not back down. He carried his convictions with him to the end, and that resignation, that consistency, is just a top priority in my book. The highest virtue.

Real Rorschach or Rorschach cosplayer? I wouldn't ask either one, in the off-chance that the cosplayer was a yaoi fan.....*shudder*

I would cosplay as Comedian, eventually. Not this year though.

Oh, I could cosplay as Hooded Justice. Still, wouldn't do it this year, though.

That is definitely going on my list of future cosplays now, heh. I had never thought of it, but I really want to do it now. I would need someone to cosplay as Sally Jupiter, though. ^_^ Maybe I can convince Kahlan to don the yellow patent leather, haha

I think you could do Silk Spectre I or II. You could make those work for sure. And that's not just cause those are the only main females in Watchmen, lol.
