So, when did everyone start cosplaying? And Halloween doesn't count (come on, eeeeeeveryone cosplays on Halloween!).

1st cosplay...well, 1996..that year was...special and for fun, haha, lol.. then went on hibernation mode and picked up official convention cosplay in '06 of K-con. ^_^
And so it begins...

I was using the internet when I was ten.
I remember, because I was on Neopets! =O

Dang, I feel really old now, and I'm not even in my twenties, yet! ><

LOL. How is that suppose to make this 22 year old feel? LOL! Just kidding... Age is nothin' but a numbah! :)

I managed to always get at least one or two, of the family members, to the end of that game! >3

And yeah, Shay! It was a floppy-disc game, for the computer, back in the '90s(or at least, that's when I played).

Floppy was an 8-inch floppy...! Then I remember 3.5" floppy disks... dude, I still have some in my room... but I don't have a floppy drive!! LOL!

I was just using floppy disks the other day. Gotta make some boot disks to try and save Kahlan's compie, heh.

So, when did everyone start cosplaying? And Halloween doesn't count (come on, eeeeeeveryone cosplays on Halloween!).
Um, this will be my first year cosplaying for a con, but I've cosplayed at meet-ups. :333

Nice! Well, you're in for a wonderful treat come Kumoricon. None of the meet-ups can prepare you for how great Kumoricon actually is. ^_^

If Halloween doesn't count, then I obviously have never cosplayed before, Eve! =O
I mean, I've cosplayed once at a party, and once at a meet up.
This year, will be my first time cosplaying at a con. In fact, it's my first con, period!

I hope to meet you, too, Eve! I want a chance to meet a Barret cosplayer, since he's like, one of my faves from FFVII! =D
And this is not going to be my last con! I'm going to Sakura-con, next year. ^^
And probably Kumori-con next year, as well. It just depends on money.
Hopefully I'll have a job, by then. >>

Oh! And I'll see you at the Kumori-con Two Weeks Early, thing.
Even if we don't get to see the hotel, I'm still goin'! =O
And I'll probably be in Nana cosplay. Though, I don't know what outfit, yet.

Okay, being the Programming Director for MEW con, it's absolutely necessary that I retaliate to this statement and do a little debunking.  Sorry for this total threadjack.

MEW Con last year was a horrific, disorganized mess for three reasons:
-The president got in a car crash shortly before the con, and wasn't there for the majority of setup.
-The programming director disappeared a few weeks before the con with a serious case of cancer which they failed to mention to anyone.
-It was the first year.

The fact that more than half of the exhibitors and many attendees canceled because of the blizzard which was the worst winter storm the Portland area has had in 160 years didn't help at all.

MEW Con is an affordable con with a lot of potential.  I'm making it my personal top priority right now to make sure everyone who goes to MEW Con has an incredible New Year's experience, and remembers it with utmost fondness.  My managers and coordinators busting their butts to make MEW Con as great as it can be, and they deserve a chance to share their hard work and dedication with others.  If you have criticism to bring to the table, do so and I will do everything in my power to abolish those problems.

Again, sorry for the threadjack.  Carry on with the discussion topic.

Oh, yeah, I thought it was fun on New Years.~~
Especially since the Slants did a New Years count-down during their concert.~~
But it was an odd location, and there weren't many places to get food around there, so I bought the pricey rice stuff. ;A;

I plan on going to mew con one more time. I'll give it another shot, as long as it was better than last year I will keep going (it seems hard to be worse but you never know).

I've been to 5 cons so far and it seems like the majority of cosplayers are underage. Though at Sakuracon it did seem like a lot more older, still not more than younger but I saw more adult badges.

I actually had a lot of fun at Mew. I know this isn't a popular opinion but I did....
(Then again my favorite part was the couple hours or so at the end that the staff had fun after everyone left.)
We did so much running around during con. X.X I liked helping out though and I really liked most of the staff members I met. Everyone seemed really cool.
I miss 2010.

I found the poll rather amusing... especially when certain people half my age are thinking they're "OLD".   ::)

IF you asked "how many years have you been cosplaying?" rather than "How old are you?", I STILL would've had to pick the > 20 years version, since you don't have any higher brackets....

Yes, Jacob_Blackfeather, I AM older than your mother...   :P

(although the term "cosplay" may not have existed back in the '80s, the concept of wearing costumes at conventions - science fiction conventions or Anime conventions - HAS been around for a very long time...so I'm counting my first convention costume as "first cosplay" )

I'm 16, and I've been cosplaying for coming up on two years.

And to think, two years will be marked by a costume that might not actually fit in the con center.

Interesting.  Looks like there's a gap at 18 and 19.  I'd assume it's because people finish up high school and realize they're in the real world all of the sudden, and have expenses to deal with...my tactic is just to reduce how much I spend on cons. :P

That is interesting. I know I didn't even attend Kumoricon until I was 19 (but that's cause I hadn't heard of it before then), but I did cosplay my first year. Most people probably wouldn't cosplay on their first venture in (perhaps?).

Lol, Yeah I had the same thoughts when I saw the poll. I also went to con's in the early 80's and have been doing performing arts/theater & costuming for...er...well over 25 years  ;)
I love cosplay and and have been a co-coordinator-performer for Sakuracon's cosplay chess games the last 3 years.

Age and experience just make cosplay more fun ne?

At 10 I was using the computer, but no internet I don't think... It was PC games - Oregon Trail FTW! B)

They didn't have computers when I was 10.  I played Pong on a game console I connected to my TV in the late 70's.  I played Star Trek and King (or something like that) on the OTIS Instructional Teletype in the math resource room of my High School.  I don't know how many poor trees gave up their lives so those little <*>  symbols could move around the grid.  I got a TRS 80 color computer with 16 colors!  It is still in my closet with the Dungeons of Dagaroth cartridge (My favorite game).  I then purchased a Commodore 128 with an external 3 1/4" floppy  I had Bards Tale.  Now that was a game!  I think it had 32 or 64 colors.  Ahhh.  They just don't make great games like that anymore.  My first Real computer I purchased in 1985 if I remember correctly, a 386 DX with an 80 MB HD and 4 MB of RAM  It had both a 5 1/2" High Density (1.2 MB) floppy and a 3 1/4" HD (1.44MB) floppy and a SVGA card!  256 colors on a 15" monitor! I was running Windows 3.1 and DOS 6.2 and had a 14.4 Modem and a dot matrix printer, Oh and a sound blaster sound card.  I think I spent $3500.00 on it.

Wuntvor whenever you post like that I get the image of an old grandpa telling stories of When Men were men and games we lucky to have colors. I find it rather amusing

I still find it amazing that I can go buy a terabyte HD for under $100, and 4 Gig of RAM for what $50?  less than that?   :'(

I think I spent like $350 for a 300 MB HD not that long ago...  5 -7 years?   ::)  It is all changing so fast.

GET OFF MY LAWN!!  Oh, where was I?  Oh yeah.  I am planning to be Hohenheim of Light this year.  That an old enough character for you MotP?   ;D

@Wuntvor
I recently got a 500gb external HD for a decent price myself.

And yes that's a old enough character.

I'm 23.
When I go to cons I see people of varying ages; young and old alike. This year even my mother is going (and she's in her 50's).
