Eureka Seven movie @ select theatres! 9/24/09
« on: July 11, 2009, 03:00:37 pm »
Eureka Seven- good night, sleep tight, young lovers will be playing at select theatres (dubbed) Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. This is a Fathom event and more information can be found here: http://www.ncm.com/Fathom/Anime/EurekaSeven.aspx?utm_source=ANN&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=Eureka_Seven

I'll likely be going as I love E7 and I've been wanting to see the movie. Maybe this'll be an excuse to do some sort of Talho cosplay? =D

Just a random question, but is this Fathom thing the one that had the Bleach movie (Memories of Nobody) playing at some theaters last year?
I've been trying to remember what company that was, but haven't been able to... >>;;

I went to see the 70th Anniversary of The Wizard of OZ in Hi-Def today and saw the trailer for Eureka Seven -good night, sleep tight, young lovers-.  I bought my ticket as I was leaving the theater.  ;D  So who else is going to the 7:30pm showing at the Cinemark 17 in Springfield?  ???

AUGH   what the he77 that just about sucked. It had some good points and a few funny scenes, but was it me or did they reuse 75% of the animation from the tv series and dub it differently?  Too make matters worse, i dont know if it was Bridgeport theater or the movie but it was very dim on the screen. I Love Eureka seven but that looked like it was thrown together just so they could make some more money from it.

I give it

1 thumb up for the story line

and

5 thumbs down for everything else.

They did reuse alot of animation. And for the new footage Bones wasn't the animation studio.
I was very displeased with that.

I hate to say it, but I agree.  Why did they bother calling it Eureka Seven when they totally re-wrote the entire story?  I understand the need to make it all fit in 2 hours, but this was a big dissapointment for all the fans of the TV series.  Anyone who watches the movie first will be totally confused trying to watch the series later.  As a stand alone film it was incredibly hard to follow.  I really can't even give it a thumb up on the story line.  Really, my favorite part was the making of special that followed the movie.  I always love behind the scenes stuff.  Plus I got to see a few of the VA's that people want to come to KumoriCon next year.  Don't waste your money renting the DVD for this one, you aren't missing anything.

Well the thing is they weren't retelling the series' story, it was always going to be alternate universe tale, so if you go in expecting the same story, you are sadly mistaken.

However it did take me two viewings of the movie to get what's going on.
