I'd have to say my number one is the people who come up to you, get right in your face and tell you to pose so they can take your picture, then just walk off after taking the shot. Very socially-deficient people, lol.

Ah, I talked about my number one cosplay pet peeve in my cosplay tag video (ugly wigs), so I guess I'll address my number two pet peeve; clingy strangers. Last year was my first time at a convention, and I went in cosplay as C.C. from Code Geass. Somewhere near the pool area, this skinny guy comes over to me and asks me for a hug. He was nice about it, so I agreed, but then he didn't want to let go. It was even more awkward because the friend I was exploring the con with kinda likes me, so he kept insisting the guy let go, urk. About 15 minutes later we walk away unscathed, but I really hate those kinds of confrontations.

this one isn't a peeve it's a scary thing that has happened.
Stalkers  :[
I've had a few at some cons and they are quite scary. (has had too many experiences with this)

At first I thought you meant that they'd ask you to pose and then when you got ready they'd walked away without taking a picture XD
That would sure as hell make me upset lol.

My pet peeve would be those annoying cosplayers that have to be the ONLY ONE TO COSPLAY A CERTAIN CHARACTER. If they're not the only one they get really loud, insecure, rude, and defensive. Those are the same people who usually do a bad job too. Go figure  ::)

yeah, its annoying when people are rude about not being the only one to cosplay a certain characer.. If your insecure about it thats okay but there is no reason to bring others down.

That being said it is a pevee of mine to do say I'm going to cosplay a certain character when nobody else is, and then have a TON of other people suddenly wanting to cosplay that character >.< It annoys me a little but I understand they have a right to do so and I'm mature about it and let it go and even have fun with people cosplaying the same character. A good way to look at it is that they have the same interests as you so you have something in common.

same as you, immaturity about not being able to handle that other people have a right to cosplay the same character as you, is a BIG pevee of mine also though.

Ah, that bothers me too! Well, not that much anymore since I try not to think too much about it, but if possible, I do like to cosplay characters that other people aren't doing. I hope that at each con or meet I attend that I left something memorable to at least one person, and it makes it really hard if there were multiple incarnates of the character I did, lol. I used to get really annoyed by this, but now I've learned to tone it down; cosplaying is all about having fun!

So, by the time I'm done with this list, I'm pretty sure none of you will possibly be able to comprehend why I even come to anime conventions, but here goes.  This is in a very particular order btw.

#1: People who assume I've watched a particular anime I'm not cosplaying from.  I have watched a few...and enjoyed even fewer.  I would loathe to have an encyclopedic knowledge of every single one...so why would I inherently know any particular one?
#2: Unfitting cosplays.  If it isn't you, then don't do it, unless you can do it in a manner that's comical.
#3: When my friends tell me I should take a "break" from Gaming and check out the rest of the con.  No thanks!
#4: Sloppiness in general.  Whether it's a cosplay, a tournament, a live performance, or whatever.  If it's sloppy, and the people responsible aren't even trying to fix it, that annoys me.
#5: Being able to find everyone except for the one person I'm actually looking for.  I like to get to know people who have neat personalities, and cons are a great space to initiate a meeting between yourself and someone from the forums or wherever whom you find interesting without having to be really creepy or conspicuous.  Those people, however, tend to be good at not bumping into me...while I tend to run into people like my friend David every time I leave gaming for more than 10 minutes, or I run into a friend from out of town whom I haven't seen in months when I wander over to the arcade at 1am. :P
#6: People who think they understand something that they clearly don't understand, and then getting frustrated when you try to inform them on the subject.
#7: Having to be "the man", and bring down the hammer on an issue, especially when it's a really nice/cool person.  I always feel kind of bad when I have to tell someone they need to get off of a console and give someone else a turn, or when I have to tell someone, "sorry, I can't let you check out M-rated games because you're a minor," when they're, like, 16 or 17.
#8: Spending money.  I HATE spending money.  If someone had just raided my bank account and told me, "yeah, you're going to Sakuracon; I'll manage the expenses; just enjoy yourself" I would have been a lot happier there.  I was really wound up because I spent a lot of money for, essentially, 20 or 30 games of DDR, 16 hours of work, and a dance.

There are other things that annoy me at cons, but they're more general.  I'm a pretty irritable person I guess. :P

Agreeing with Tofu on unfitting cosplays and sloppiness.
Also for me, glomp circles and yoai paddles. Yoai paddles have been banned at most cons so that isn't really and issue anymore but it drove me into rage when people would come up behind me and smack me WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME. Grr. As for glomp circles I've been dragged into a lot of them without wanting to go. And with that the last pet peeve of mine I will go into is PEOPLE THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND NO MEANS NO.

WHY DO THE FORUMS SUCK SO BAD?

One BIIIIIIG issue of mine is people who cosplay who don't put their heart into it. They cosplay because everyone else is and that is the, so to speak, "cool" thing to do. You get the people who put on an askatsuki cloak and nothing else and call themselves ______. It gives a bad name to all the cosplayers who DO put a lot of thought into their costumes.

Another one of mine is people who use their real hair. If you want to use your real hair that is great. I can get over the fact that it is not the same color for some, but I rather not. But please, for the love of god, if you are going to use your real hair and it is naturally curly and the character you are cosplaying has straight hair, style it properly. If you can't style it then buy a damn wig, the cosplay community will greatly appreciate you not bringing our hobby down. (the you was directed at no one ^_^)

oh god I know what you mean. >_< I think some times it's just lolita's in general. not all of them but the ones that ONLY cosplay lolitas.

I can't stand when the wig/hair isn't right. or when there's too many of one cosplay. I know mainstream is always going to be there but I think everyone shouldn't try to cosplay as only the main characters. You should possibly try for a minor one, they need love too.

I also don't like those that try to cosplay like 20 characters all at once. And then their costumes are only half assed because of it. :/ And I don't like it when one person cosplays like 5 characters from one series. I don't care how much you love the series, leave some cosplays for other people to try. and you can't look like everyone is the damn series. ::)

My biggest is when people on the streets by the hotels driving by, stick their heads out and yell, "FREAKS!". That has happened twice now, and although they have their opinion, it doesn't mean that they should take it out on our fun. d:

Also people who come up to me and ask while I'm taking a break from my cosplay, "Hey! You were cosplaying as ______ earlier. Why aren't you doing that now?!" This has only happened once, but it was enough to make me just a "wee bit upset". We all get tired and need to take breaks sometimes.

Another one is that if you want to cosplay a popular character like L or Naruto you better do everything you can to look great. Those costumes are already looked down on by experienced cosplayers because people who usually cosplay those characters do a half ass job. This is just my issue with wanting to be the best I can, I look for things other people have done well and things that didn't turn out great and combine them to make one hell of a costume.

Just because you are wearing a white t-shirt and have heavy eyeliner on does not make you L.

I can sum that whole thing up in one sentence. If you want to cosplay a character that is well known make yourself stand out of the crowd. So when people ask "did you see that L?" and someone asks "which one?" their response is "the good one" and the other person will know instantly who they are talking about.

yeah, I wish I could go all out for mello but money is a little bit tight, so I cant really get the pleather outfit (unless I miraculously find it in japan) So I'm trying my best to pull off mello in non-pleather clothes. It does annoy me when people dont try at all.

I dont like going to the trouble to actually cosplay as someone you resemble (sorta), and you get all of the clothes right, and NOBODY RECOGNIZES YOU! Even when you cosplay as a character that should be immediately recognizable. I mean, who hasn't seen Ghost in the Shell? Apparently a lot of con-goers these days, from the reactions I got,

The second pet peeve of mine is related: Younger fans who are completely ignorant of anything pre-Naruto/Bleach/Deathnote. Anime did not begin in 2000 AD. It began decades before i was born. And young people really should know where the shows they do watch came from. It is scary to think that many who watch Gurren Lagann (for instance) do not know what Evangelion is, let alone Gunbuster. God you kids make me feel old sometimes, and i really shouldn't.

@ Manji ~ well my first amine was sailor moon and man that one is old. It may not be that we are plainly ignorant, it may be that we just aren't interested in watching the particular anime's that you like. For instance, I dont like Naruto very much and need my friend to explain the characters that he recognizes. I know what Ghost in shell is I just never was interested in watching it. No need to feel old because the kids dont like the animes you like, just means you have different interests/tastes. But I understand where your comeing from, its no fun not to be recognized.

Another peeve of mine is when People base YOU off the character you cosplay. I may cosplay -insert character here- but it doesnt mean I AM that character, and if people dont like the character I really hate it when they treat the person cosplaying that character badly for the sole reason that they are a character you dont like. Please these types of people need reality checks.

I'm sorry for being such an ignorant kid! ><  But as Black~Rose said, it does mainly depend on tastes. o:

Also, many people knew about the "Caramelldansen girls" as a meme in 2007/2008, so when my friend and I dressed up as the girls and *even did the dance numerous times* no one noticed. ._.  Only some adults who recognized the actual characters from the video games they are in. xD

I'm part of the younger generation but I tend to like the older anime's as well as does my friend. We still watch new series if they catch our interest but we're still watching the older ones. I cosplayed from Record of loddoss war my first year at k-con. and that was my first time cosplaying. I thought for sure I'd get lots of praise for my costume. I love that series and I was younger so I didn't know better. Only 4 people recognized me. I was so sad, and I worked super hard on that costume for my first time.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis. I know some people happen to be extra... er... large though, and have trouble with this, but a lot of people don't and don't even try ._.
heh... At a meetup a little while ago I didn't bind... I decided not to bother since it was only a small meetup and I'd run out of bandages... But boy did it suck when I saw the pictures ._.

And on a related note, Sexy no Jutsu cosplays. I'm down with SnJ ONLY within the Naruto series and of certain characters, but only if they're done well. I mean heck, don't just use it as an excuse to skimp out on a wig.

I dont have to many pet peeves : o

I dont really like it when some one at a con insists they knoew more about anime then you do and then proceed to shoot down your costume for acuracy and how you do a terrible job ofportraying the character (happend once and i restrained from punching in the nose)

really i guess my big peeve is when people come acting all arrogant and just  because they watch death note, bleach, and naruto they know absolutley everything about anime ever. I find this happens with the younger crowd.

it also equally annoys me when the older crowd just assume everyone in the younger crowd is what I described above, that or a weebo, yaoi fangirl, the typical stereo type of the yaoi fan fic reading screaming con girl who acts like shes 5. On several ocasions many people were surprised to find out Im only 16 and had peged me for 18 or 20 once. When I asked why I was told because I seem a lot calmer and more mature than most anime fans/kids my age. And to be perfectly honest i have rarely met the stereo type i described and most of the teens i hang out with (into anime or not) are not at all five year oldish (not in public at least, sleep overs with my middle school friends go the oposite direction >_>)

but yeah thats the thing that bugs me. Im not one to take arogance very lightly, though I try to put on a good face and just brush past it since I know ive been arrogant at times myself, and if i expect to be forgiven for when i was a jerk i need to forgive those that are jerks ocasionly to.

sorry end long rant xD

I would like to add to the pet peeve of Jacob_Blackfeather's:

I agree greatly that some form of binding is greatly appreciated in crossplay, just like stuffing, shaving, makeup or tucking is always appreciated with M->F crossplay, however I feel greatly stressed when I hear that girls have bound themselves so tight they are having trouble breathing, or heaven forbid, when they take the tape off it leaves massive wounds.

Fortunately there are ways to prevent these but unfortunately it's not always known to the young crossplayer (or even the older ones). So while I really wish crossplayers would take the steps to make their outfit more convincing I am very sad when I hear about the "battle scars" that happen. I have many friends who crossplay and I have learned from them that longterm crossplayers (who are female) should take the opportunity to invest in a binder (like from underworks or t-kingdom). Spendy? Yes. Long-term value? Totally worth it from what I've been told.

NOW that my soapbox moment is over, my equally aggravating pet peeves.
1) Hugs that last TOO long. I'm usually fine with hugging folks but if it lasts more than .5 seconds and I'm left feeling sleezed on and I need to scrub my skin - UGH.
2) Real Hair that isn't prepared for cosplay. Wigs are preferred. (already talked about)
3) Perverts - treating a real person like a sex object, con or not, is the quickest way to make me want to explode in all my Irish fury.
4) Drama. The End.

EDIT: 5) How could I forget the one that happens to me most? I don't crossplay. Ever. So when, even though I'm cosplaying a male character, that people continuously call me "she/her" even after I correct them is more than a little frustrating. Okay, that's it for real now. XD;

I dont really like it when some one at a con insists they knoew more about anime then you do and then proceed to shoot down your costume for acuracy and how you do a terrible job ofportraying the character
Heh. That's happened to me too... I was tired and acted all flustered and did a generic pose when someone asked for a picture, then someone else in her group said
"What the heck, do something Cooro-like" (my char)
"Any suggestions? ^.^" <--not very good at posing D:
"Do you even read the series?" |:

... Maybe I was just overreacting by getting offended by that, but heck, it's a rarely done series, of course I've read it D8>

and @ Mei- You're a guuuuuuy? OUo Rly? Haha that's amazing.
Er, but yes on your notes on binding as well. Mainly some girls are uninformed or lazy to do it right and end up hurting themselves. I'm amazed that there are some girls that still use/try to use duct tape. I forget if the incident of the girl that got hurt doing that happened at Kumoricon or not, I just remember hearing a lot about it -u-;

Not necessarily cosplay, but the attitude that some Gothic Lolitas can have. This happened to me at Sakura Con this year, but on Sunday I wore my Loli dress and as I was walking in the halls and walking by other EGLs, I could FEEL their eyes looking me up-and-down checking how "Gothic Lolita" I was. Also as I was waiting outside a panel room, a rather well matched EGL couple walked outta the room and the girl gave me the once over and standing about 4 feet away, I could clearly hear her whispering things to the guy she was with about my outfit. I looked at her several times to kinda indicate that I could hear her and if she wanted to say something, she could have said it to my face, but I guess she didn't pick up the hint and continued to whisper about me dress within earshot. At least it wasn't anything disrespectful :-\.

That's the ironic thing I always found about American EGLs. We thumb our noses at mainstream fashion and how silly it is to pay $500+ for a couture bag or shoes and how fashionable people in Hollywood or New York give you the once-over to examine your clothes and outfit, but when it comes to J-Fashion and particularly Gothic Lolita fashion, people do the same thing. It's kinda discouraging sometimes.

I imagine that would be annoying.  I want to try and get a vintage WWII fighter pilot's uniform, and find a character from some anime whom I can look really inconspicuously similar to, but not quite identical to, a character from some anime.  Then I wait for someone to chew me out for getting the cosplay wrong, so I can turn around and say, "What are you talking about?  This is a genuine vintage World War Two Fighter Pilot's uniform.  Just because your show misrepresents history doesn't give you the right to criticize my extremely valuable outfit.  At no point have I claimed to be cosplaying.  Just because I'm wearing a really comfortable, expensive outfit, you assume that it's somehow connected with some hobby I've never had any interest in.  That's pretty obnoxious, you know."

I'd die happy. :3

Cheap wigs! Those things annoy the hell out of me and are probably my number one peeve of a con.  I think it's awesome when people don't have to wear a wig to a con, but if you're going to do that, *please* take the time to make it look even remotely like the character.  I'd rather see that though than a cheap, butchered Hannah Montana wig...>:(

Another one of mine is people not moving out of the way to take pictures. COSPLAYERS SHOULD KNOW BETTER! If the photographer doesn't ask you to move then at least the cospalyers should tell them to wait till they get out of the way of the hall. I do it all the time. I think I forget every once in a while just because I am in a hurry or something.

oh I have some pet peeve's for cons.

THE GAME(sorry if I made anyone lose, but really no one should play it. it's so Laaaaaaaaaaaaame~). I hate when you can't even take 5 steps and someone's like "I lost teh freaking Gaem!" DX makes me want to rip my hair out. I tend to yell back "I won the game!". I know it's confusing but it's true, you win the game if you don't play it. which I don't.

Also I'm tired of the people that constantly complain about staff and saying they could do a better job. It's like hello, there trying thier hardest to make con fun for you. Get over it, They're short on hands. If you think you could do a better job then go and help them out, they'd love that.

I know this is kinda shallow for me and people should be able to cosplay whatever they want but it really annoys the hell out of me when an overweight person cosplays someone with a skimpy outfit. Like if you are obese you SHOULD NOT cosplay Yoko under any circumstances. Despite what people say I think almost everyone feels this way. I feel it with a little less extreme too. I don't think anyone should wear an outfit like Yoko's unless they look good.

Wow it is surpising hard to find those few people that are just slightly overweight and cosplaying something skimpy x.x

Ok this is a good one
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2046/2303174787_9bc4a40fb8.jpg
this is what your stomach should look like if you are going to wear a skimpy outfit.

It looks like the people I am talking about don't post their pictures. But if you have a muffin top you shouldn't cosplay something like yoko in my book.

I found an example of what you SHOULD do. If you want to cosplay a character but don't have a body for their skimpy outfit look for one that will work for you. Take Rikku from X-2 for example, this girl probably would have been made fun of if she wore the bikini but she didn't and found an outfit that will work http://images.cosplay.com/photos/13/1309748.jpg

I agree with nikki. another thing that bugs me is ussualy when people kinda say "im not fond of obese cosplayers cosplaying skimpy outfits" and then people bombared the person who said that with "any one can cosplay whoever!' and start yelling at them : / It's just an opinion. If you still want to do skimpy cosplay then there are a lot of ways to avoid over skin exposure, body suites come to mind.

also not saying you have to be paris hilton to cosplay the skimpy characters, just not on the obese end.

Oh another thing, when people complain about normal people or even other people making fun of their costumes. First off seeing someone wear a costume to look like an anime or video game character is pretty weird, and people will make fun of you no matter how well you do it. Its just not something they are used to seeing, and yes they are shallow and judgmental and all but that doesn't mean you can complain about it. Shrug it off and move on.

Now for the second one, people at a con making fun of your costume, that is going to fall into one of several categories. Either they are these "normal people" and just don't get it. You are large and cosplaying something that a skinny person should cosplay or your costume is poorly made. Two of those three are your own judgment calls so if that is one of the reasons people are making fun of you do not complain about it. Find something better to cosplay that shows less skin or make your costume better.

Oh and the people who say you have to spend a lot of money to have a good costume. My Temari costume cost under $30 to make. All the clothes I got for about $10. And that costume doesn't look bad, it can use some work but everyone thought I did a fantastic job.

Eh, this might just be a little of my OCD showing, but I can't STAND when the halls of the hotel and/or merchandise room are blocked XD People just stand in big GLOBS. Its like, really, you couldn't move aside a little? I understand the cons are crowded, but some of the places people stand are so terrible.
Last year there was about 20 people talking in front of a staircase, oblivious to everything around them. My friend and I stood there for about 5 minutes until we asked them if we could get by. And when we did, they looked at us like WE were rude.
Normally con goers are a lot more polite than that ^___^;;;;

I've never been to a con but that sounds like some thing that might anger me :P
..as for the younger ages and anime I'm one of the younger people (just turned 14 :P ) and I watch many other animes then the mainstream ones..actually I've watched more than i can count at the moment...

This seems like something that might be a little rude...but if you're wearing a cosplay that shows leg or armpit and you're really hairy...is a little nasty (a little bit is fine but if it's overly blah..)

A small pet peeve of mine is if your a woman cosplaying a dude it's a nice thing called ace bandage and it works wonders for hiding the boobs and all and you look better as a man and it makes the character more real and I like that. ^__^

But is it not better to try then not try?

Oh god I have another one -____-

People who automatically think they know more about anime/japanese culture/language whatever, when they haven't even heard you SPEAK. I went to KumoriconLite, and me and my friends are hangin, watching some AMV's. There was a Evangelion joke in it, so I laughed. You would only get it if you've seen the anime, right? And the guy across form me goes "Do you even KNOW what Evangelion IS?" With this terrible sneer.
I'm like "yeah. Would I have laughed if I didn't get the joke, and therefore have seen the anime?" I didn't say that but boy was I ticked off.

Not only is it one of the greatest anime of all time, MOST people know of it. Its pretty damn popular.
Made me think he doesn't really know the hierarchy of anime ;D

Oh god, I just remembered one. Elitist cosplayers piss me off to no end.

Just because you're popular within a small community of people doesn't mean your better then everyone else. If someone comes up and says "Hey I like your costume!" don't be a bitch. Show some modesty because the fact is we're all just nerds dressing up as fictional characters, I don't see how someone could be better then another in something like that.

Well said :D I think those people are my biggest, other than the usual wrong hair type things everyone has said. Though I think you can lump pretty much any elitist anime/cosplay/egl/whatever else pertaining to this hobby person into that group.

Also @ SnJ cosplays: ugh. Slutty female version of <insert character here> is not SnJ. I hate hate hate "SnJ" cosplays unless they are Naruto or Konohamaru done how they are supposed to be done. If you want to do a female version of a character, fine, but don't try to call it SnJ and don't slut it up <.<

another Peeve of mine, though it cant be helped, is the tiredness of the 3rd day. Its so hard to go out with a BANG when everyone is ready to pass-out from sleep deprivation.  Although sleep deprivation does interesting things to me.... I don't mind what people like, if they're into yoai, that's fine by me. I've got friends who like it and I just don't participate in conversations about it.
But it's when they rub it in my face after I tell them "No, I'm not into that" or come around trying to force people on each other to get some pictures that bothers me.

i can understand sometimes when a group asks for a romantic pose, i made some friends last con going as gundam wing fans, and Im a 5 x 2 fan (im not ussualy into yaoi but for some reason i like that pairing) and I asked if they would be nice and hug for me, they did so gladly, and I wouldnt have asked anymore than that.

but when you insist that the two characters do something outside of the cosplayers comfert zone is what pisses me off. Their not your personalmascots, while most do dress up for the pictures cosplayers have no obligation to heed your whim as far as posing goes.

well yes I am a fan of it. It just bothers me when people are super obsessive in-your-face about it. >.< I dont like them pushing their Coupling ideas on me when I'm already a fan of the pairings those characters were meant to be in.  Like toufutakeout said, I dont like the heated arguments because its ridiculous. If the writer wanted those people to be together they would have put them together, and its fine if you like it being with someone else. Hell, I'm planning on doing lots of yaoi poses for a certain characters that I'm cosplaying; but getting into arguments over it is kinda dumb.

ok im going to come out and say it though im sure i'll be flamed

L and Light cosplayers. Im really sorry but they just annoy me when thats like all the person cosplays.

dont get me wrong Ive run into a lot of really great cosplayers who do L and Light, and Ive met exeptional cosplays of those two characters, but its just to me it feels like you wanted to cosplay so all you did was through on a white shirt and some baggy pants with eye liner. Its also kind of the sheer number of them. ._. you turn a cornor and theres a L, Light, or Misa. (misa I dont mind so much since she is less commen and requires some effort)

its kind of the same with half done naruto or sasuke cosplays..... It kinda feels like to me you want to cosplay but you dont want to enough to go forth and put energy to make your costume stand out from all the rest.

xD glomps while in costume are generaly not a good idea... well depends on the costume (if some one glomps me in peach it will send my hoop skirt up and i would rather not flash the public)

Marie and Anna do a good job at it : o ive seen a lot of people do it well, i think its really about getting in the character that makes them stand out..... most L and lights I see just walk around like normal unless its for a photo, if even then sometimes *shrugs*

eh L yeah I guess.

but still even then it seems half assed. they just kind of hunch over for a bit and at a small angle

the most memobrable L to me was back in 07, when there werent quiet as many. I remeber her, she was actualy bare foot and because of this didnt leave the hotel often, and she was very hunched over for most of the convention, at least everytime I saw her. I dunno she just really struck me as L and stod out to me far more than the other L cosplayers I saw that day.

Over used cosplay, especially Light and L, are quite annoying, I must agree. But, as you said, Chihiro, some can actually be well done. It probably wasn't the same L, but there was one in '08 that played the part perfectly. It was a girl, but she did proper binding and the only way I could tell was through the voice. She walked barefoot, hunched the entire time at the con, styled the wig almost perfectly, and stayed in character every time I saw her. She was either a volunteer or a worker (she gave away the tie wrap things on the third day) who was super, super sweet. That was the only L I every really appreciated, no offense to the others (even my friend from school).

I dont like when somone assumes your like OMG friends just cause you met briefly at a con, and so they kinda go to far for an aquatance and start treating you like BFF's just cause you had a small exchange of comments. dont get me wrong Im all for making friends at a con, but a con doesnt change the setting on how fast is to fast for a realtionship. this is likewise for me with just me first day and soul mates the third. i kinda think its annoying when some one just ditchs all their friends to be totaly in love with some one they just met and then come next con they hardly remeber eachother

Id been talking to you for a while before we met at the con xP Im just kinda refering to like a girl comes up and is "I like your costume!" and then you kinda exchange a few words but then she gets uber close and huggy, follows you around, insist you exchange phone numbers exetera i mean i did kinda just meet megan rune and robin that way, but i wasnt being all huggy i just kinda told them my friend who was suposed to come to the con with me ditched, it was my first con, and i was a bit afraid. they then knida took me under their wing. but its a bit touch and go, it depends on the situation but i have a hard time beliving people can make life bonding realtionships in three days

another peeve, people who think they can tell you waht to do about how to "fix" your cosplay (i dont mean like a tear i mean cause they think you look bad). but i had an unfortuante incounter once with this girl at k con 07. I was just sitting around in my kinda anciant chinese outfit i had bought at the beach, i was no one inparticular i just wanted to dress up a bit beyond cat ears or something. any who im waiting around for the others to catch up and this girl randomly walks up to me and shes in an EGL outfit. she then proseeds to berade my costume on how i look like im wearing pajamas, i look stupid, i should go home, i should be a specific character and not just wear an asian outfit for the hell of it because im not willing to dress up all the way, and she just generaly makes me feel terrible, and keeps talking so i dont even ahve a chance to say anything. it irritates me when people feel their better than you and they can tell you how to fix your outfit cause your just that bad

My biggest peeve is when a costume is half-assed [take L and Light for example]. It kills me when a costume is half-assed it makes me want to kick the person in the shins for half-assing it. If your going to cosplay, then put effort into it, or at least buy one online

I have two main pet peeves. One, is when the costume is really cool but the wig is all wrong or they don't have one at all and their natural hair is the wrong color. My second is just when cosplayers act really snobby. I was in line at a convention once and just playing around and they started calling me immature, I don't really get that when you're out to have fun but oh well.

i find EGL ones to be a bit snobbyer

ive encountered plenty of nice lolitas, but a few tend to be very egotistical. to me its kinda because they dress like kids, and they act like it to. the stereo type usualy only applys to people who live in lolita, not just dress up in it for a con or special ocasion

i like the dresses though xD their so pretty!

I've only been to Kumoricon once, and it was last year, but these two things bugged me:

- People deciding that yelling to you that you look like a cupcake is a good idea when you're having a conversation with someone else. I showed up to kcon, saw someone I had commissioned some jewelery from, chased them down before they got away, and attempted to have a conversation with them while some crazy chick yelled at us about how we looked like cupcakes. We were standing on the landing of the stairs, just chatting, and this girl is literally yelling over our conversation at us. We were both in sweet lolita, along with another girl with the person I had commissioned from.

I can't speak for the other girls (the sweet lolitas) about them being rude, but no one tried to talk to me the whole time I was there except for the sweet lolitas. XD My skirt wasn't really the right shape though, so I wasn't poofy enough to attract the attention of the cosplayers.

- Those freaking cat ears with the ribbon stuff hanging off of them. They are so cheap looking! One of the first things I saw upon walking into the lobby for the first time was an L cosplayer wearing them. I proceeded to see them everywhere.

And then I just remembered something that happened to my friend while we were there, so I guess I have three pet peeves.

- People correcting costumes. This was mentioned before, and I can't believe that people will actually tell people to their faces that their costumes are bad! I was only at kcon for one day, and my best friend was dressed in a silly little cosplay as Father from Azumanga Daioh. It was just an orange felt head with Father's face on it, and she was wearing an orange dress. It was a week-before kind of thing, and we had never been to any sort of anime gathering before, so we didn't know what to expect. Anyway, my friend was asked for her picture a couple of times, and one of the times was by this college-aged guy who then proceeded to tell her that her cosplay was wrong because she didn't have a tail or something. She was sort of like "wat" because English is her second language, but we all agreed that the guy was pretty rude.

And I don't, truly. I get irked by quite a few things a lot of cosplayers are known to do, but to simplify, I just said that~

If it's not a direct correlation to your attitude and me being mad, then taking it to heart would me immature. <3

*sigh* Another peeve, people who don't understand that on the internet it is hard to uncover the real meaning to a message because there is no real interaction such as tone of voice. So people tend to take things literally then the person who submitted the original message gets all upset and acts immature.

Also in the context of this topic everything is really serious. I'm not upset that you have that "peeve" since it is your own and I don't want to change your mind nor would I want others changing my mind about the ones I have. But in the context of this topic everything was serious and taken quite literally. So I continued thinking that same way. I don't know you that well so I am not too sure of the way you normally act so I had no clue if you were joking or not. Sorry I took it the wrong way. It can be hard to decipher these things just based off words and no tone or attitudes behind them :) Sorry for getting defensive.

Haha, I remember when I thought you were generally mean for using the >_>;; face, which I had only seen been used when someone referred to 'whatever' or 'god'.

And my pet peeve when people don't put enough effort into a message on the internet so it's always viewed in the wrong manner.

And I wasn't joking, in case that's what you were asking. XD What I was referring to is that people who don't know me should not take offense since, haha, odds are it's NOT you. And for people who are my friends, they also shouldn't be offended since I wouldn't direct it to them.

But yeah, it's all good! Once you get the hang of how someone types, you can understand it. I don't know you, either, so I'm still looking~

my pet peeve: complainers. Im not a big fan of people always complaining the entire con. I know I do a right lot of complaining myself, but ussualy its over net with friends and not at the con and i wont be "Oh my f'en god im so tired" "theres nothing to eat" "all the good cosplayers wont talk to me" ect ect ect. MEETING PEOPLE! Seriously we all love the same thing and I have gone to 3 conventions in the past two years and I have not met anyone that I can have a random friendship with. It's awesome that we all can geek out about anime and whatever else but why is it so hard to meet and chat with some random person it's like they give you a strange look as if they are better then you. Oh no, I know it happens. I've seen some people with absurdly thin skin, especially online.
Tbh my friend's costume did need a lot of work, but we were two girls who had never been to an anime convention before and didn't know we were going until the week before XD

Oh, I think it was mentioned before, but the phrase "I lost the game." At school with your friends? Losing the game is hilarious, especially during class. But in an anime convention where everyone is running mostly on sugar? Not fun. Even more so when it happens every five minutes.
Old memes in general are kind of annoying. Objection, shoop da whoop, etc. I'm no 4channer by any means, but even I can keep up with the new memes :/

Another thing that I'm sure someone has posted is when someone wants to give there opinion about how bad the Anime your cosplaying is. Like I cosplayed as Zaraki from Bleach (Obviously by my Avi) but some kid thought he was cool saying "How does it feel to dress up in a show that no one watches." I was completly blown away by this kid I was actually impressed but still quite annoyed.

I went to the Anime Expo down in L.A. this past summer and it was awesome, it was my first con ever. So I went and I was very nervous. I just wore my simple cat ears (that I made) and my collar that has my bell on it. And I had all these people come up to be and ask how I made my cat ears, where I got the material and such, and I was fine with that. But then one person came up to me and tried to take my cat ears off without asking to look at them. It got me sooo mad. I just couldn't belive that someone would do something like that.

This one girl had a great Asuka costume and I asked if I could take a picture of her...she basically rolled her eyes and took off her sweater and posed.  Geeze, I have zero problem with people that don't want their pictures taken.  Is it really so hard to say no?

Thankfully though that's the extent of my kumoricon...peeves.  Nothing worse than that.

Yeah, one of my biggest problems is the imature cosplayers, like most of the naruto cosplayers, granted there are a few [like my self] who cosplay from that series who are actualy mature about it. I generaly hate cosplaying mainstream anime, but this year I'm being draged into a Naruto cosplay. I never really was an imature brat about cosplaying my first year, but I was confronted by some older cosplayers who were particulary rude and said that my [KH1 Kairi] cosplay was underdone and I was bad for doing her. Granted they were nice enough not to yell but it made me realize that I need to be less of a brat about my cosplaying a popular character. I didn't realize untill after the con that they were Kairi haters, I saw them after the con and they kept giving me nasty looks so I confronted them about their rude behavior they said that and I quote [6 years ago] 'Kairi's a bitch, so your a bitch for cosplaying her. I can't believe that you'd stoop so low to cosplay a slut like her! You should never cosplay again!' But yeah, I cosplayed her again [KH2 school version] at Sakuracon in '06/'07 and got the same thing. That's when I nearly stoped coming to con's because of the imaturity levels of me cosplaying certain characters that are 'hated'.

I think I'm done ranting for now anyways. [my Kairi cosplay was perfectly done down to the pendant]

I agree. I hate when people do that, because honestly I like some yaoi but at the same time I like Kairi. So when people hate her needlessly I find it really immature. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you Konan-chan, some people have no class.

Well I like kairi and I will be cosplaying her, probably next year. And they are REALLY stupid for calling you a bitch because you cosplayed a certain character they didnt like. They need to be hit over the head with something really hard to knock them back into REALITY. WOW that was extreamly immature of them

and yes the yaoi fan girls are quite well known for hateing the girls that were created by the MAKER OF THE STORYLINE to be in love with one of the characters these fangirls want to be gay. I find that pretty annoying honestly, I can only tolerate yoai fandom if its in a mature way and not an "OMG I HATE THAT CHICK SHES TAKEING SORA AWAY FROM RIKU" Way. It ticks me off when people mess with story plots like that and get pissed because their version isnt what actually happend.

only girl who was inteted to be the love of a hot often yaoi fried character is Relena from gundam wing..... I hated her long before I knew what yaoi was I just hated her. I think it has to do with the fact that EVERYTHING she owns is pink. even her limo. and yeah shes rich, kinda a snob, really a bit stupid, and in the end she gets everything. just a tad annoying. but shes the only one.

I had some hate problems when I did Rosso the Crimson just because she's from FFVII DoC some people don't like that game just because it's a 3rd p. shooter. And the fact that I'm like 2-3 feet shorter than she, even with my platforms, some rude people were calling me names and yelling at me just because I liked the character. [didn't help that I yelled back at them but I was trying to stay in character] =A= they said things like my acent was off [I tried but I'm not russian and I can't roll my r's unless i'm speaking in Japanese] and that I was too short and that it's stupid to cosplay such an obscure character. I could tell that they were cosplay/con virgins due to their imaturity. [AND they were mainstream Narutard cosplayers] Granted I cosplay Naruto characters but I go for obscure and not well known characters. Like Konan.

Ahh rants are fun. Man, seems like I get bullied a lot at cons for the characters I pick.

ah just finished skiming thru this and boy r my eyes tired
my biggest pet peeve is that they cut peeves from the harry potter movies
that said

EGL nuff said, tho I feel i can put this here as I know there are plenty of nice lolis who are as nice as the oufits, but most have treated me like dirt, like i did not have the right to exist

people who are rude or mean for no reason to (other people be it attendees or staff) to people just asking questions ie
1
person A "wow ! a 99cent costume contest how do i enter?"
person B "your already wearing a costume you can't enter"
person A "I can't just put it on over my costume?, these are my only clothes"
person B "no "
2
person A "yay karaoke! looks busy how long is the sign up sheet?"
person B in a sarcastic way "Ha ha ha ha hahahah "
person A " ....."
person B"hahahahhahaha"
B never did tell me list time

3
person B who walked up to info desk "HEY what are you doing back here this is staff only you can't be back here!"
(was at info desk)
person A gestureing to a water pitcher " bring the info desk water and getting my purse, I was watching the info desk for the last hour "
person B "you bought water? thanks"
the same senerio happend to a person trying to buy a skirt in the dealers hall but was turned away (she had been told she had another hour till it closed)

reading the description of the elit cosplayer makes me feel like the anti elitest at any time at a con i'll be tossing candy to people in costumes i liked and saying hi and half the time they reconize me from the forums,
oh which makes me think of a differnt peeve

people who read the forums and apon meeting in real life who act like they know you and act like they are your best friend  now i don't mean people who are active on the forums
but it seems every year i meet some creepy peep who knows everthing i have ever said on the forums but has never posted or "talked" to me on the forums
it confuses my husband cuz he would be "who is that" and i am like "dont have a clue"
**note** less of a peeve if the person is under 13 cuz at that point it make me feel i duno more like a role model?

sub-peeve  I dont know if its the costumes I wear or my juvinille sence of humor or just me I tend to attract little kids and some time i swear there are no parents in sight  (not spec talking about k-con)

I personally can't stand it when people just flat-out act obnoxiously. Just because you're at a con doesn't mean you get to throw common decency out the window. Sometimes it's fun, but you've got to use good judgment.

I also don't like how some people will just come up to you randomly and touch you. (not inappropriately per say) DO NOT WANT. All you have to do is ask and I'll be happy to give you a hug. :3

I don't know if this counts, but I hate getting ripped off.
My friend had bought a really cool Suzaku key-chain at Mewcon, and I loved it, so I decided to get one too, but when I went up to buy it, the guy charged me a dollar-fifty more then he did for her..
I know $1.50 isn't that much at all, but really, that's not fair.!

Or when they look like a character, like the style of the costume and wig and whatnot, but they totally change things!

Example: A nice black wig that they decided to make neon blue.

I don't know if that's what they think the color is supposed to be? If that's all they could find? Or they just wanted to be random like that, but it just bugs me. >3<

Hmm. I agree about the wig color thing, but sometimes it's hard to find the right colored wig. A lot of things could factor into the decision making process.

For example, the character's hair may vary by which art the cosplayer is going off of, and if the character has black hair, the color of highlights may need to be taken into account. A lot of characters with black hair will have an odd color of highlights. (blue, green, purple, etc.) It's also not the easiest thing to tell what a wig will look like in real life by the color shown on the website, for those who order wigs online. (Most people I know do) An off color might also be the product of trying to dye it and having it come out the wrong color. D:

Just the same, though, it is kind of irksome to see a wig that is completely the wrong color. ) =

I'm not talking about that. I am talking about a character that has blond hair for example and someone using a high lighter yellow wig for it. Not a natural looking blond wig.

THIS. And what I was going off of was a Road cosplayer I saw. I mean, I know she has blue hair in the anime(I think, I've seen pictures) and whatnot but it's NOT neon blue like I saw. D8

i also think its sad when people wont even style the wig or there hair at least when they know they can.  or when someone who thinks they have a cosplay costume when its just a  bunch of things together and they say their this character when their not. but i wont tell them their wrong or i'd feel horrible.

When it's the completely wrong color I can see why it would urk you guys a bit, but some people really do try, you know? I mean, if they're only a *tad* bit off and they've worked hard on their costume some people go all: "KJDHGJALHLAJKHDSLJDKJTUWESKNCK! WRONG COLOR YOU FAIL! Well if someone was wearing less than a bikini then they were breaking con policy and were probably asked to put more clothes on. The bare minimum is a bikini.

Felicia? I think that is a great costume if done well. No many people cosplay her and when someone does it well I don't care at all.

This is a good one http://www.acparadise.com/contests/crossedge/320/320-4.jpg Though she is covering up more of her chest than the reference but oh well.

D8<"  It's just not cool to say or think that about someone who's really put effort into their costume. That's just my say on this. d:
lol i know but like i mean if someone is going as a organization member and they just put a black sweater on and a long black skirt then glue a chain to it, its like "i know they could put more effort" and ya the barely their cosplays, they should save it for hentai con, no matter how good their body is.

nikki: see that one works cause i feel like she covered more than just her nipples, she covered her chest un like a lot of felicias. I dont mind the costume when its done well, but when its just like strands of fur covering parts of you.... no.

I think one of my pet peeves are cosplayers with an ego and think of you as a sort of disease when you try to hug them. Cause one Kumoricon I came up to someone and gave them a hug (I asked), but then they said "You better not try to rape me," with a real attitude to her tone. I felt embarrassed cause a lot of people were watching.

Well... the thing is (and I don't mean to sound like I'm whining).
It was a whole FFVII skit about recruiting people to worship Jenova.
All it was was an announcement saying that the person was one of them and he/she got a hug.
My friend did it and (I think it was either Sephiroth or Cadaj) gave her a loving hug.
But when I came up that's when she said it and I felt really hurt cause I didn't know what I did to make her say that.

i'll admit what she was out of place

i just find there seems to be this "rule" of sorts that you have to hug when some one asks and if you dont your "rude" which I think is absolute blasphamy. you dont need to give out hugs you just dont be a jerk about it.

I agree with that. Even if you are super slim, I've turned around the corner before and gone, "GAHH! Dx". Children go to this convention and certainly ones much younger than myself. So, pleeease keep it to just the belly button no more. x.x  (For my eyes at least.)

NEON blue though? I know there are better wigs than that just on eBay! D8

they could have not had the money to afford them so they got the best they could. Or they could have not been able to find the right shade of blue. I know that finding the right shade for a mello wig was hard, and I still dont think I got it compleatly right. So go easy on those guys.

no, Mabey they liked that particular shade. Who knows? Ya must know what they were trying to accomplish before calling it half-assed because a lot of people put their own spin on characters, like my aerith dress had a flower print when her real dress did not; it was my own spin on it.

I don't know what they were doing, all I know is that brightly colored wigs like that tend to be a bad quality compared to the realistic wig. And bad wigs is another peeve of mine.

On the flipside of the hug issue, My pet peeve is when people ask for hugs.

I don't know you, I probably have places to go, and I don't want you to touch me.

Plus I've heard enough stories of people hugging and breaking costumes to turn me off of it.

Asking for a hug is better than doing it without asking, and most of the stories about people breaking costumes if from people who don't ask.

Yeah, cause you know, you could be off doing your own business when all of a sudden...BAM!!! A person comes out of nowhere and tackles you to the ground in a massive glomp. You end up having your wig painfully pulled off and a part of your costume ripped very badly... This would suck majorly.

I actually really like hugs. ='D But I always ask before hugging, and always hug gently! >_<; I mostly limit myself to hugging people I know, anyways. I would probably never say no to a hug either, unless the person was a total creeper. D: And I can completely understand not wanting to be hugged by a total stranger! D:

And then there's glomp circles...But you wouldn't participate if you didn't want to get hugged, right? ='D

Okay, one thing I absolutely HATE is the issue between western and asian manga. There have been complaints that if an American was to make a manga, it's not a manga, but a western comic. It's like saying pizza's not pizza unless it was made in Italy.

Well, I DO kind of agree with that. There are some subtle differences between manga created by a Western artist compared to those created by Japanese. Because of these small differences that I notice, I rarely read Western manga or Korean manhwa and Chinese manhua.

It's usually the art style I don't like though.

Yeah honestly, I take that back, it's really not a big deal anymore. I just sometimes found it absurd when other people were in that predicament. I myself was never attacked by the differences between american and asian manga. Either way, they are all good to me. ^_^

Last year's skits were great but the girls sitting next to me were very annoyin--talking loudly about non-con stuff (goodness, what WERE they doing there...) Please respect the people and take ur chatter outside of the event.

THIS.

Also, has anyone mentioned rude photographers taking pictures without asking? I had this one large camera shoved in front of my friends and I last kumoricon. The flash was so bright we were seeing spots for a good while afterward.
He took about three fast photos, but he should have asked =/

He zipped right in front of us, took three photos, and zipped out so fast that we were still blinded by the flash. The only thing I managed to do was call him a certain name or two as I rubbed my eyes XD

Yeah I can see where that would be annoying. I don't have a problem with asking people to delete photos if I look bad, I'll take another one for them but I would ask them to get rid of the bad one.

I have two peeves that are a bit connected. Mainly because I don't try to start anything and just kinda let things slide but these two things kinda annoy me:

1) Random people coming up and kinda being rude. This happened at one con I went to and it made my whole day kinda bad. Some guy walked up to me and my friend and kept insisting that she was too skinny and should eat and yeah...It was scary. But there were a few people who remarked the same thing and I'm hoping this doesn't happen at K-con.

2) Feeling strange when I go to compliment someone on their cosplay and ask politely for a picture. o.O; Just say no if you don't want one.

Those both sound like terrible exceptions. In my experience at Kumoricon, I don't think you really have anything to worry about. Jerks and creepers are everywhere, but for the most part, you'll just find people happy and willing to share that happiness with you at Kumoricon. Most cosplayers love having their picture taken and, speaking for myself, I'd never rudely/awkwardly deny it to someone asking politely.

No worries! ;D

Haha. It was just really all out an awkward con for me that time. Anytime I get excited I'm a bit of a shy spazz...so I don't know if it was just they thought I was being polite but was scared of me or something o.O; And I don't know about that creeper who started bothering my friend x.x It lasted for ever though and we ended up missing a panel because of it. lol.

But I'm glad that you've set me to ease. I'm really nervous to go to a con because of my past experiance and because I'm new to K-con xD

For me sometimes I get my picture taken with out being asked so I turn around and take a picture of them without asking it's like thay say "Someone takes a pic of you with out asking, know what you do? Take one of them without asking"

hmm my pet peeves

I really hate it when people touch/hug people without permission. In my first con somebody from the same series I was cosplaying came up and hugged me very suddenly (they were also a LOT older) so needless to say I was a bit freaked out. It's fine if you ask or are leaving after having a conversation or something but a lot of convention go-ers are shy (I am) and also pretty young.

Another (which I'm sure has been mentioned) is half-hearted or lazy costumes. While I'm not AS passionate as some people about anime (I still really like it a lot though) I do love making costumes and putting things together. So it does make me a bit sad when I see something that was clearly just thrown together. I do understand that a lot of people aren't sure that they'll becoming until the last minute but I've seen some that are just plain embarrassing.

My biggest pet peeve about people taking photos of cosplayers. It isn't the ones who ask but the ones who sneak in unprepared to take a quick photo. My friends and I love to cosplay as a group but it gets tiring holding a pose when the person who asked already has their pictures but now there's five to ten other people in the process of taking out their cameras to now take a picture.
I love posing for pictures that's one big part of cosplaying for me, but I can't be a statue forever smiling. If your camera's already out go take a picture while I'm posing for the one who asked I don't mind, but if for some silly reason you have your camera lost in the bottom of your Mary Poppins bag then please just catch us another time.
Some of the best cosplay photos I've gotten were actually of some tired people just chilling against the wall relaxing but it tootally fit with their characters.

Oh another peeve...is the tentacle monsters...this mainly came from Sakura Con (if you've been to their dating game you know what I'm talking about) but people dressed as those creepy or cheesy things even if you don't touch me don't go waving your little tentacles near me. Please only do it to those who first flirt with you...don't let innocents be your victims. *shudder*

Must add my best solution to not liking getting hugs...I dressed up as a moogle at Sakura Con 08 with a biiiig poofy red ball and had another friend of mine cosplay a moogle too but hers was more cuddly. So when people asked if they could hug me I'd point to her and they'd go and hug her! Hehe! Of course it all backfired me when I went to Kumoricon last year for the first time. I was the moogle for the whole time and had to take the hugs. Btw I was the moogle in the dating game that year and my sis was the chocobo that ended up with the zombie!

This reminds me of another pet peeve, people trying to swat at my moogle ball without permission! It was sturdy but they were lucky it was. I mean it is a biiig red ball so it's like asking someone to resist pushing a big red button but some restraint is always required when attending a con. Those who asked I let gently touch it.

Hello everyone this is Animeman73 here  :). I've heard many people have pet peeves about those who take pictures of others without asking. Believe me, one of my pet peeves is seeing people who lack in manners or tact. My Taekwondo experiences and my parents I'm proud to say have taught me the value of courtesy. That's why when I took pictures at last year's convention I always approached my subjects and politely asked them beforehand. Manners are everything and all the shots I took were in good taste, just as all the shots I plan to take this year will be put on my blog and done in good taste.

My number one petpeeve is people who think only skinny people can cosplay. This annoys the heck out of me because larger people are just as beautiful. There might be a few larger people's cosplays that don't look to great  but please do not hate it just because they are larger.  >:( People making fun of bigger cosplayers are low and must feel horrible about themselves to make themselves feel better if they have to make fun of larger cosplayers.
I'm a larger cosplay and it would feel nice to know people can actually behave like adults.  :)

Another thing is, there have been a few rude people at cons. Come on people, you don't have to act rudely to look cool when showing off with your friends, grow up.  ::)

I've also noticed people wipping out there cameras without asking and the poor cosplayers have to stand there for a long time. There's 3 days of fun, I'm sure you'll see them again.  ;)

Beautiful cosplay by the way!

Cosplay doesn't depend on size it depends on accentuating your own form! That's why it's for everyone. Even someone who is a stick can do it wrong and make a costume too tight, too baggy, or have too much skin showing in all the wrong places in all the wrong ways. I've done it to myself at times and I use my friends to help me gauge where a costume is going as I'm working on it. When a cosplay is done right it's right but when it's done wrong there will always be another con and friends hopefully to help you with the next costume creation. We get better with each costume we make.

Whoa, lots of peeves on this topic x3 As for myself I have a few that I do not particularly like. So, lets see how long my list of peeves turns into...

1. I do not like poorly constructed costumes. IE half assed ones. For me at least, I take pride in making my costume, and trying to be as accurate as I can be to the character I am going to portray. I stop at no lengths to try and make it as perfect as I can, and even then I usually have things I can improve on for the next time I wear a costume. Wigs are a big thing, and since I normally have butt length brown straight hair, I have to buy wigs for my characters. There was only one character I have worn that had that long of hair, but since my hair was not enough for it, I had to have a wig anyways to help make my hair look fuller for the cosplay. (charlotte) I find it annoying that some people have cosplays without wigs that match the character, and either do not put their hair up at all or do, but it is the wrong color/length/look etc. I can understand that funds would be an issue, or the lack of being able to style a wig that would be either very complicated for a beginner wig styler or waaaay to expensive for a professional to make, but it only goes so far... Even if you cannot make the costume, at least buy one that resembles it more. It may be cheaper, but cheaper does NOT always mean better. The picture could be inaccurate, etc. So one thing is do a lot of research into your cosplay, and find people that do make it that make it WELL. Sure it might cost more, but it might avoid some unwanted issues, IE people making fun of your cosplay.

2. The creepers, stalkers, clingers, and etc. I do not like random people hugging on me, touching me, or standing to close to me when they KNOW what they are doing WHEN THEY DO NOT ASK POLITELY (about the first two). I love giving hugs out to people who are kind and ask politely, because I am just a lovable person like that, but its when they wont let go, or are grabbing me without asking that makes me want to bite their head off. x__x If I know you for a long time, then its not so bad, but when some guy way older than me wants a hug and looks like he would be a creeper about it, then its not fun for me and makes me very uncomfortable. This also goes with people trying to date at a convention. Yes, we have common interests, but that does NOT mean I am looking for a potential relationship with someone I have not ever MET before. It happened to my friend one time, during K-con's 2007 Masquerade Ball. This guy was talking all nice to my friend, flirting nicely, until he insinuated that he wanted to go back to our hotel room. NOT COOL. We did not go to a Masqerade Ball for a one night stand D<. That was one of the worse things that happened. If we say no to a hug, or any kind of touching we feel uncomfortable with, that means NO. Period.

3. Completely rude/elitist cosplayers. It has been said before in this forum about them, but I figured I wanted to throw in my two cents with this as well. Generally, we understand that there are some cosplayers out there who are unbelievable good (nikkiolie >w< ), and while a good portion of them are kind and nice when you talk to them, there are some that are just down right snobs. I fortunately have never had the chance of running into them, but some of my friends who cosplay have told me about them and it irks me terribly. Just because you look amazing in your cosplay, whether you made it or not, does NOT give you the right to be rude to others. Its that kind of selfish, rude behavior that gives some con goers the nerves to speaking to cosplayers who they think are amazing. It gives you the thoughts like "Are they going to be rude to me?" or "I really want their picture, but I am afraid that they will be mean to me for it." or even "We are cosplaying the same character, but hers/his looks so good. Will they nit pick mine?" etc etc. Some people pour their heart and soul into a cosplay, and even if it isn't perfect, they love it and should be given the credit for it. Just because you (elitist mean cosplayer) bought yours and look amazing does not mean you can rub it into others faces.

4. Convention space. It may look huge with no one in the hallways, but it gets JAM PACKED during convention hours. I explicitly hate it when people stand in groups in narrow hallways and do not let others pass. Its even against the convention rules, but people do it anyways. People crowded into such small spaces makes for others stepping on cosplays, breaking props, ruining pieces etc. I have had my dresses stepped on countless times, and even with my dress getting dirty afterwards, there are some people who do not even say they are sorry! People should be considerate when seeing someone with a rather large dress, etc. in the hallways and should be wary of stepping on costumes. They rip, they get dirty, and it even leads to crying at some times. I know my Serenity dress has large wings on her back, so I am going to be careful this year and stay out of crowded hallways, but even then people bump into them and bend them without saying excuse me or sorry. It happened at Anime Expo this year, and it made me thoroughly peeved. Its called being polite with manners. -_-;

5. Last but not least, people who do not be quiet during panels, contest, etc. I want to hear what they are saying, not what you are saying. I have sat in audiences where people were constantly chatting, or yelling and screaming when their favorite character comes on stage. Its nice to let everyone else know you love them, but when they are speaking, please be quiet. I want to hear the skirt, I want to laugh too, and its no fun if I don't understand what is going on. Its common courtesy to keep your mouth shut when someone is speaking on the stage to you. Be nice and listen, clap or cheer when something good happens, but do it at a reasonable level for everyone else's sake. ._. Also, I do not like it when people stand up in front of me when I am sitting down. Yes, they have a good view, but then mine is blocked and I have to be the meanie to tell the person to sit down so the rest of us can see. Then arguments ensue, and its just no fair.

These are just a few of my pet peeves, but overall I love conventions and enjoy going to each one I attend. ^-^ I swear I am not a meanie either ._. I just have been brought up a certain way that I feel wronged when people do not respect others...
Well, my rant seems to be very long o_o Sorry about that everyone ^^;

When girls who crossplay don't bind. x_x No, really, I know you don't think it's noticeable, but it is. Trust me.

Also, people who are really loud and disrespectful. It's annoying. Dx People who Just Didn't Care fall under my "Ew" catagory, as well.

I think people should choose flattering cosplays, too.

I can't remember if I've posted in here before, though. ^^;;

Oh wow, SO MANNY YES'S TO THE CROWDED HALLWAYS! Wearing Garnet last year was horrible in the hallways. I wanted to walk without the dress gathered up and held in my arms(it has about a two and a half foot train, give or take) so I could carry other things easily, like my Staff or bags. But everytime I let it drop, someone stepped on it. I need to rehem and wash the fragile fabric of the skirt now because of it. I also couldn't even sit down with my dress down; sometimes people stepped on it(or sat on it!) when sitting down next to me.

I can honestly say the only time I didn't want to worry about being stepped on was when the halls were clear and during the Cosplay Chess; there was enough room and all the pieces were still in their squares so I could let the skirt down. This year my Yuna train is about six feet or so and I have sewn in clasps so I can roll it up into the wing motif, but that means I'll need someone to help me take it down or up for pictures. ;.; There's also the wings; thank the gods they curl around her! Even the veil...

I'm going to die this year at con, aren't I? xD

Anyway, please be considerate of people in large cosplays; those of us who sewn them or bought them really, really don't want footprints on them >.<

I have to say something about this. With one of my crossplays, I had to bind, kinda hard to fully bind as going from a high DD to a flat chest is kind of hard, IMO, lol. Though I went to a B, not bad.  ;D
But I can understand people who don't even try, come on people, you can do it!  ;)

People who hover around the front of event lines and then jump in front when we're forced to move against another wall.... -____-
Four hours in line, 3rd in line, after move= Became about the 15th in line.

Constant screaming during panels. Yes I get it, they are awesome, please let me hear them....

Random glompage and or/smaking into me in the hallway.

The only thing that really annoys me is when people try to run panels when they have no idea what they're doing. The 4chan panel at Sakuracon year before last is the most excellent example of this. The person hosting it was an idiot, and had only ever browsed the cosplay board. It was basically "random people talking about random crap in an unamusing fashion." I think it got shut down after the porn showing, however, so that's a plus. At least there was an amazingly awesome unofficial panel going on at the same time (middle of the night)...

Along with the "crossplayers who don't bind," I'll go ahead and say cosplayers cosplaying characters with a smaller bust than them not binding. I do not have a particularly large bust, but even I strap 'em down for characters that are supposed to be flat.

I had to look up the meaning of the term "sloshed." Hmm, I didn't really stick around long enough to realize that everyone was intoxicated, but it doesn't surprise me.

- Lines.
I know there's not much you can do about it, but it still ticks me off a little.

- Ugly wigs.
I have seen so many this year where they put it over their hair and didn't tuck their hair all the way. Ew! And some weren't kept nice, either. Whenever I'm not wearing mine, I'm getting tangles out or putting it up high so it's not damaged.

- Not being able to find people.
I have a lot of friends I don't come with (that I meet there) and I can never find them.

- Bad maps.
We got lost looking for the food court. D: Info desk included.

- Some cosplayers.
I get really annoyed when people throw on an Akatsuki cloak and put their hair in a ponytail and go, "I'm Deidara!", even if they look nothing like him. This is the same for lots of Haruhi's and some other school girls. Wigs aren't that expensive, really.

My peeves-

Caremelldasen:

Not the song itself, but all the people doing the same dance over and over, and most probably don't even know the rest of it or the source of it. A lot of people think it's just flapping your hands at your head and moving your hips, but there are other moves to it! And no, not just stepping to the side like that one video! It bugs me when no one seems to know the source of the dance. It's the POPOTAN dance, someone just put it to that song and it stuck for some reason! And what most also don't realize is the dance comes from the opening of the Popotan hentai game!! D:< So they're all doing a hentai dance and doing it wrong T ^T It was cute at first but it's just so overdone and.. I don't even think half those people know the song is Swedish. >__>

Overly loud fangirls:

I appreciate that you fangirl, and that you're having fun. I don't appreciate when a group starts screaming at the top of their lungs over and over again. There was a group of 3 girls at a con I went to who kept talking and out of nowhere screaming horrendously loud. People were starting to get REALLY irked about it. It was next to a panel too, so that really didn't help.

People in your group wandering off ahead:

This really bothers me. I have to yell if I want to take a picture for someone to wait up. And if we get separated it's hard to find anyone. Plus the halls are so loud celphones are harder to hear. Grahh...

n00bs:

People that just.. don't... know anime properly. Yesterday someone called me "Dahkaro-chan" enstead of "Dokuro". I heard some loud squeals of "KAH-WAH-EEEE" too. Mispronouncing things and butchering all that is holy in anime is just horrible D:

No Deals:

When that ONE guy in the dealer's room who's the only one who has that ONE manga you want, and you wait until the third day for a deal, and he happens to be one of the only ones who DOESN'T knock down his price at all. DX!!!!!

Aaand.. People who wear kimono's wrong. I don't know, it irks me and it just looks tacky. If you don't know how to wear one why did you buy it? >__<

People being snobs about your costume! Simple costume doesn't always equal easy costume or lazy cosplayer.

Related: people being snobs about what series are being cosplayed. Yes, there are a ton of Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy/Hetalia/Kuroshitsuji/pokemon ginjinka cosplayers, but I don't care how much you hate that series, it doesn't give you the right to be a total bitch to them, nor does it make your costume better than theirs!

>:/ I went as Namine on Sunday, which was the trigger for this post. *mutter mutter assholes mutter*

Non-cosplay related: people constantly needing to make noise omg. You do not have to try to get a song going around, or yell "I lost the game!", or whatever meme is going around every time there is relative quiet in the line/panel/lobby/etc.

Well, I'm not really even sure if this'd count in here, but it does relate to anime, so I think it's close enough.

You know how some AMV's will have the dubbing at the bottom of the screen from the original anime used?  I don't really care if the creator prefers watching anime in Japanese & reading little words on the screen; it's nice sometimes.  However, if you're going to make an AMV, don't have subtitles.  They're distracting, and sometimes they take away from the effect of the AMV.  It shouldn't be a big deal to get rid of them when you're gonna have fragments of scenes displayed while a song is playing.  It's just illogical and annoying.  Have them when you watch anime, I don't care about that; please get rd of them while making AMV's, though.  PLease?

My really weird pet peeve:

The awkward aspect of photo-taking. I feel like I'm being pushy if I ask someone with a great costume for more than one photo. But at the same time, I feel like I'm being arrogant if I ask someone who's taking a photo of me if they would want more than one pose - even if they've said they love the costume.

One of these days I'd like to figure out where the happy medium is between those two feelings. (^_^)

yeah don't worry about it, I felt that way for awhile then I realized they WANT to be photographed anyways and that my love of the camera was more strong then my fear of being a bit pushy.

a simple Nikon/Canon point and shoot can run you 100-200 for the higher end ones, get a cheapo four gig card for 20 bucks on Amazon and BAM you got it there.

just make sure you have a camera you LIKE.

Oh don't get me started on this, I can make an entire post about cameras.

1. It really annoys me when people complain about American graphic novels and call them American manga and talk about how much they hate them. The only thing different between them are where they were made. I mean are we not aloud to make comic books that have 100+ pages or something. Because if thats the case then thats just stupid.

I hope to become a Graphic Novelist someday. and Im going to publish original stories. and if people cant except that I'm American then screw them.

2. Another thing is the people that say "I HATE DUBS, IT RUINS THE ANIME SO I DONT LIKE IT ANYMORE!!!11 D<D<D<" ... I mean its ok to not like dubs. Just watch the subs. But when you say "it ruins the anime" Its still the same story and characters (except 4Kids sometimes) just watch the subs. nothing has changed. Hate is a very strong word.

3. I also dont like it when people complain about American Artists and say that Japanese artists are better. I mean anyone can be an artist no matter what country you come from. It has nothing to do with where you live it just has to do with your talents, abilities and junk : P

... lets just cut this short and say My Pet Peeve is "Weebos".

One of my costuming pet-peeves is when someones has spent obvious time on their outfit, but doesn't even really true to get the hair right.  I realize that sometimes we run out of time, or money, or energy, or our wigs get lost in the mail or end up the wrong color, but it just makes me so sad for the costumer.  They got so close only to miss out on one of the most important parts about overall character appearance.  This especially irks me when someone has long, straight, unshaped hair, and thinks it will work for any long haired character regardless of style.  9 times out of 10, our real hair just doesn't have the volume or shape of these crazy characters we adore, at least not without a lot of work.

Another pet-peeve is when people spend lots of time on making a costume but didn't bother to make sure it would actually fit them.  So they have a costume that they spent lots of time and energy on, but it looks cheap and thrown together.  It makes me sad.

New pet peeve... congoers that do not know the meaning of PERSONAL SPACE. I mean, it's a con, so for the most part it's a given that people will be close and there are a lot of huggy people. I'm fine with hugs, but at both this con and last years con, I was kissed by someone I had not met before; not even online without any real warning! I have a hard time standing up for myself a lot, so I said nothing... but seriously; the most uncomfortable things I've experienced at cons were from people who didn't know what a 'boundary' is. There is a fine line between goofing around/ acting in character and sexual harassment; it was crossed. >.<

I agree! But you have to remember, sometimes it helps.

For example, I watched an AMV once that was piano, and they used one or two scenes with the dialogue still on the bottom, and it worked because the dialogue made sense with the way they were setting the mood in the video.

I hope that made sense. That entire sentence sounded weird to me.

I hate people who complain "That's not anime!" and point at some random swag or costume. Especially when they are pointing out video game characters. This is an anime convention so they obviously love anime, don't make a big deal about what they decided to wear. Just enjoy time around other fans.

As long as you don't cake it on I am good. That is the case with anything like that. I spray it in the air then walk through it.

Axe was my special weapon for the con. The small can cost $2, and did only what I would expect it to do...get me through the three days of walking everywhere, odor-free. I pay no mind to the commercials. Besides, TAG lays the chick magnet thing on thick too, hoping guys will buy it and lay the spray on thick. >_<

Whoever said too much is never enough, never read Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Not too little, not too much, just enough to do its job.

I hate people who complain "That's not anime!" and point at some random swag or costume. Especially when they are pointing out video game characters. This is an anime convention so they obviously love anime, don't make a big deal about what they decided to wear. Just enjoy time around other fans.
I LOVE seeing good costumes no matter what they are from lol...those kinda people are stupid lol. I will have to check out that video when I get off work lol. Not all of my cosplay are anime either...only 2/3 of them.

Axe is by far better than B.O. but like you said, in moderation. Over applying ANY cologne or perfume, even a good one is enough to make you puke.

Number one pet peeve would have to be the people who see a prosthetic or a prop. They notice that its well done and then proceed to TOUCH THE HELL OUT OF IT! I've had a few people touch very fragile things and break them because they where too rough with them.
Another one is people who glomp from behind and forget what they are wearing. Had a girl/boy/thing glomp me and tear my Orgy jacket because he/she/it forgot he/she/it was wearing something with a lot of hardware. The jacket got ripped in a few places and now I have to spend the time and energy to fix a custom job. V_V Sad days.

"Oh, it's an anime convention."

Two words: Caramell Dansen.

Gahhhhhh, I hate CD SO MUCH. I had someone at last Kcon come up to me while BLASTING the song into my face and try to force me to do the dance. And I was just like, "Dude. Personal space." And she would not back off.

Speaking of which, people who don't understand personal space. And it doesn't have to be physical, it can be mental. Like, people who are suuuuuuper clingy and latch onto you for a whole con and don't seem to understand that you want to hang out sans them.

I had something like that. Some lady came and asked me and a friend of mine what was going on, and we tried to explain it to her, and all she kept saying was, "OH, I WANT TO GO."

I think it's great that she wanted in, but it was a little awkward. She did not look like the kind of person to like anime: maybe I was just being judgmental, but man. It was hard to keep my mouth shut.

It was redonkylous after the con, I walked around downtown waiting for the bus to come, towing my bags of well captured swag with me and I encountered a lot of people asking what was going on. Only at the end of the epic 3 days did so many people ask what this was and when it was. At the time it was...over.

When people cosplay as something that's not anime.  I'd like to cosplay as video game characters or something like that, but not for an anime con.  This goes double for Harry Potter or Twilight cosplayers.

When I cosplay as non-anime characters at anime cons it's because anime cons are the only ones I go to so I haven't any other chance to show off my non animu costumes P:

When some random con-goer shouts out at the top of their lungs: "[insert name]-CHAN!!!" and makes a mad dash for said person disregarding whoever is standing in front of them. Okay, so maybe that person hasn't seen the other person in a long time or is their favorite character from some show or video game, but stuff like that isn't just annoying - I feel embarrassed for them.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

This will be my second year at Kcon. And my first year cosplaying.

Im not gay or anything, but I decided on cosplaying a female character.
Im not fat or ugly really so I can pull it off mostly. Im half asian too. That helps. lol

But anyways, I do have a couple pet peeves from last year as well.

1. People not attending the con that feel the need to insult the rest of us.
2. Random Glomps
3. Doorways or stairways being blocked by mobs of people.
4. People who assume things before really knowing you.
-There was this one kid who had decided I was gay for no real reason....
God thats annoying.

Become photography staff and just ask "for a FEW photos"

or just do that in general- just let them know that you will be asking for a few photos.

There's photography staff??  :o :o

I see that a lot of people are bashing on the lolitas =.= Are they really that bad?
Last year I went in my dresses for all three days (and also for the first time in public xD) and talked to a group.
They seemed nice to me~ Obviously I guess I'm missing something right?

I am also a deticated cosplayer as well as J-fashion fanatic xD It does bother me a bit when someone just picks up the styles and act like they know everything. But I never bash on them unless they're clearly being a jerk xD

As for those that are new to cosplaying as well as Japanese main stream fashion, I think people should be a bit more considerate to those people ^^" I get it if you can clearly see that they didn't try hard enough but people need to mind their manners xD I do catch myself saying "Oh thats not a very good outfit." but I never walk up to them and say that nor do I treat them any differently ^^

Haha yeah I love lolita outfits too! ^^ But I was just reading through this thread and there are A LOT of people bashing on the lolita girls.

I guess I'm one of the ones that don't hang out with "those certain lolita groups" so I wouldn't know anything about the rude behavior of the lolita girls xD Seriously though, I think that lolitas are supposed to have "doll like" and "elegant/proper" behavior if you will. Not be totally brusing up the lolita fashion with rotten attitudes. Not only does it give all the other lolitas a bad name, it give you an even worse rep as a lolita fashion endorsor.

Plus, its even common sense to have a good attitude when going to a convention xD But everyone knows that there are always "those" kinda people in every place that just loves to ruin everyones fun xD

I don't think I've ever had an issue with any lolita or group of lolitas.  Granted, my exposure is generally limited to, "Hi! Can I get your picture?!"  I can imagine there is some "us vs. them" mentality amongst certain groups of lolitas, as is the case with anything.  But, I have never been exposed to it firsthand.

Hahaha same here! I've never had any of the lolitas give me looks or any rude behavior but I guess thats because I always run into the good ones xD And by that I mean the nice ones! =D

And yes, there is always mental rivalery between people and cosplaying or fashion endorsors xD But again, self control and good manners are always a skill that people need to perfect xD

In the past there were some problems with Kcon's lolita community, but those girls have moved on from loli for the most part, and are super chill now.

Anyways, speaking as a lolita, I love having my picture taken! It lets me know I look good, and that's never bad.
Although sometimes it's safer to, when speaking to cosplayers, assume everyone knows nothing. It's a lot less disappointing than assuming someone knows what they're doing when it turns out they don't.

On the topic of lolita, I've gotten some dirty looks from cosplayers and regular people at cons while I was dressed in lolita. I haven't done anything but check my makeup, why do I get glared at?

Line cutters. I mean if you just had to run to the bathroom and your friends saved your spot without leaving a giant gaping hole in the line and not moving with the flow of the line thats ok by me. But people who try to sneak into the line with no such excuse or if an entire group migrates to the bathroom or the dealers room and leaves one line holder well I have to call bull [Mod edit by JeffT: Removed inappropriate language]. That is one of my pet peeves and so line jumpers beware!

I would have to say...people that are rude & treat someone badly because their costume isn't perfect or at least up to their standards. Yes it's fun to see that "best in show" costume of your favorite popular character & you go out of your way to chase them down with your camera...but show respect to everyone else who put forth the effort to cosplay it as well, even if it needs some work. If you don't have anything nice to say, just shut up & keep walking. I hate hearing about how mean or rude some people are at a convention that was designed for EVERYONE to have fun...it's just plain stupid.

I imagine it's the "that's not anime" thing.  The way some people react you'd think it was listed as a rule for con attendees. ^_^;;

Want to know my anime pet peeve and one of the reasons I don't watch anime anymore?  So many animes seem like they're made for the ADHD audience now.  The perverted, boob-starved, panty-shot fanatic ADHD fan.  I can't stand it.  "Fanservice" used to seem more tongue-in-cheek but now it's blatant and in your face.  Or maybe I've just grown old.   ??? :D

People who use random Japanese words drive me insane. Especially people who add -chan or -san or what have you to english names.

Another peeve of mine is the way certain people behave at cons. It's all good and swell that you are finally here in a place with people that like the stuff you do, but that doesnt mean you can run around screaming, climbing on stuff, and generally misbehaving. By all means, enjoy yourself, but remember, you still need to act in a grown up manner.

Im kinda guilty of the first one though.... I only know a little japanese so I cant help it that all I can say is a random word or two... lol

But the other thing you said, I totally agree.

At Sakuracon I encountered this, and I feel the need to post this here:

DO NOT. And I mean, DO NOT. EVER. EVER. Touch my costume without my permission, unless I know you. I have no tolerance for this, and when it happened it really rubbed me the wrong way. This person was also not careful with my costume, and just seemed to manhandle it. NEVER IS THIS OK.

Next person to try that gets their throat slit.

That's never happened to me but I saw it happen to my sister when she went as the giant P-Chan that one year. Some dude just came over and knocked on her head... >.>

Though... I did get a t-shirt thrown at my head while I was wearing this styled wig at kumoricon once while waiting in a cosplay contest line.... hmmm...  ;D ;D ;D lol it's all good xD

I would have to agree fully...I had a person grab my hand to shake it without my permission & it broke some of the wiring controls for my mask. Had to go to Radio Shack Saturday morning to get the proper parts to repair it for the weekend. ASK FIRST

That makes me so sad. Some people think that as soon as you walk through the con doors, common politeness and manners can be forgotten.

I cannot stress enough that politeness can go a long way. So many people stopped The Depp Squad for photos that we were so worn out we went to sit down. That didn't even stop the photos. But this one person came over and asked us to stand up for a photo so nicely that we did it. People asking for photos were in general pretty polite about it, which we were all thankful for.

Well put...after about 4 hours of sweating to death in my costume, I finally had to sit down & pull off my mask. I actually had a guy come up to me & just acted as though it was my job to stand back up & put my mask on...no please, no polite words...just wanted it done. I told him "sorry but I'm done for the day, maybe tomorrow" Had he walked up & asked me politely, I would have been more than happy to throw that sweaty hot mask back on & stand up.

Well, one of my pet peeves is L cosplayers. On the first day of the con last year, I was up in the karaoke room, chatting with some people, when someone pointed over to the corner and said "Hey, look at that L!" I looked over, and there's this scruffy haired asian guy with a white shirt looking out the window. So someone goes over to talk to him, and then comes back and says "They aren't even cosplaying." It's just, if you can mistake an average, everyday person for an anime character, perhaps you should cosplay someone else? Maybe?

Also, people who don't respect boundaries. My friend was cosplaying as Anko, and she had some guy shove a Naruto cosplayer at her, and asked her to recreate the "licking the cheek" scene. Both of them were like, "Um, no." I mean, why would you even ask someone to do that? This also goes towards the people that ask the Haruhi's to grab boobs for the sake of cosplay. *headdesk*

Every breath you take and every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I'LL BE WATCHING YOU.

People whining about 'How last year was better.' My friends did that at the last con, and guess what? I didn't go to the previous year. It was a major downer.

Being directed the opposite way you want to go. I understand that some hallways need to be clear, i understand your doing your job, but when you are standing between me and the bathroom when my stomach is exploding inside me, I'm sorry but I will have to run by you.

Rude people: This counts for the people outside the con too. When i cosplayed mello, I was getting honked and whistled at whenever i stood outside. Down in the dealers room, I was looking at some merchandise and quite enjoying myself when this girl came up to me. This is how the conversation went.
Girl: "Your not really mello."
Me: -looking up- "What?"
Girl: "You don't have a chocolate bar, therefore your not mello."
Me: -Pulls out chocolate bar from coat pocket and takes a bite- "Really?"
I then ignored her and she left at some point
I mean, come on! I had a gun shoved down my pants [really awkward if you'd like to know] and i was looking at necklaces, do i really have to eat chocolate every moment?

My biggest pet peeves in the world when at a con are:
#1 Smelly con-goers, seriously, you want a hug? Take a shower!
#2 People running into you or your props head on and not even apologizing (I've had that happen quite a few times, it hurts)
#3 People assuming your a character without even asking or confirming the guess with you. (also experienced this first hand)
On the bright side I love it when people get excited over something you've put hard work into, it's very gratifying

I've been lurking over this for quite some time now and I finnaly found a pet peeve that seems to stick out more to me.

-Manners. Please use them. I mean, I've had manners forced into me for about 17 years and I use them when I can. And I've been known to lose control of my actions due to my ADHD, but I never do anything completely dirastic. I've been known to yell a few times, but I generally....am I very quiet person, so to people my yells are more like a person talking normally. Anyway to get to my point and relate manners to a past experience, my first con, there were many people who have them but even more that don't. While walking to the lobby door a Bleach character accidentaly hit me with their sword, looked back at me and kept walking. I mean it was nice to acknolage me, but please at least say sorry or something instead of walking away.

Along the line of manners. Theres this nice little word called, polite. When people nit pick apart a cosplayer when that specific cosplayer has worked their hardest on their costume. Just give some helpful advice maybe some nice constructive criticism. I mean there have been some days were I have thought to myself, "Oh they forgot some parts." Or "They forgot to Hem and paint the symbols right". But I do the nice thing and push the negative comments aside and give something possitive. One example would be a cosplayer came up to me last con when I was Akita Neru. I didn't do perfect but they said "Your a good Neru, your gonna do better then me". I responded politely with a "Thank you. But sence I haven't seen your costume, I can't say anything but, I'm sure you'll do just fine as long as you worked hard on it." But another time when I was Likatung and in a hurry because our cosplay group was going to be on in under 4 mins and I hadn't looked over my lines yet some other Pokemon cosplayers stoped me to take pictures. I didn't tell them I'm sorry I'm in a hurry but considering I was flailing back and forth looking for the rest of the group, all I could do was do a simple smile and hope that was ok. For them.....it was far from it. They basically said "Why didn't you stick your toung out like Likatung? Your not very good at this! All I asked was to get a picture, stupid B-" Yeah I rather not continue with that, but I basically appologized many times before they walked off. I probably should have said "I'm sorry I'm in a hurry, can you wait?" So that was more so my bad.

There was also a time when my legs gave out and I couldn't move. Because I was so stubburn and busy that I wouldn't sit down durring con. I appologized and asked my friends to help me up or carry me out of the way before they did, a con goer yelled "MOVE IT NEWBE You can't sit there" "I'm sorry, I'm not exactly sitting my legs gave way" "Maybe because your fat ass can't handle them" and they shoved me out of the way. Now as a person pushing 90lbs. 30 lbs underweight...I did take offence but I held it in. The rest of the con goers were thankfully understanding about why as to I was sitting in the way.

SORRY FOR THE LONG RANT. DX

I hate hate when people are all "You did that wrong"
Like Sam, I can appreciate a little constructive criticism, especially if it's well worded. But if someone walks up to me, asks me for a picture, then tells me my costume is all wrong, points out how and then walks away, I think that's kinda douche-y.
Usually, I will only take criticism from my friends, not random people walking by, because I know they mean it out of the goodness of their hearts as opposed to, well, the not so goodness >>

photographers that just want pictures of the skanky looking girls: oh my gawd! i've seen a realy nice cosplayer get takin advantage of because she cosplayed one of her fave guilty gear chars. she looked so cool but the photo graphers just kept trying to get every angle possible to see if they could get a little somethingsomething in the pic >< rawr!

i do how ever like photo graphers that hang out in one spot and take pictures of every one. there was a realy cool photo grapher that thought our "freeze" game was cool and liked all our poses. he hung around for a good 10 or so minutes takeing pictures of us.

cosplayers that only do 3 poses >.< do you REALY want 100 pictures of you doing the same pose?

Well the useual thing that comes to some neanderthal's mind when someones legs gave out is, their overweight.
Or it could be that my cosplay gave the impression of being overweight/chubby considering how much I had to have on for it.

@Soundy:
I second that. People can be quite rude around things like that.

THAT JUST REMINDED ME:
Charly (Cassiopeia) and I were headed back to our room at Sakura-con this year at around 1:15 in the morning. If you come in after midnight, you need a room key to get in to the building, so Charly was shuffling around in her Spain pockets looking for a key. A woman walks up, pulls out her key, and opens the door.
"Looks like she got her's first" Charly said, laughed, and the two of us moved to go in the door.
Then the woman turned around stated sarcastically "Uh, no, get your own, sorry" and slammed the door on us.
The two of us just looked at each other, and she rummaged through her pockets and eventually found the key.
It was just so unnecessary!
BE FREAKING POLITE.
Seriously, shiz.

You know what kind of irritates me?  Otaku cliques.  :P  Everyone has their group of buddies, but I've definitely seen before where people will form a really tight knit group and sort of shun off new people.  It just seems to remind me of middle school/high school too much.  And lets be honest, most of us were probably social outcasts or didn't fit in.  So, it disheartens me to see it happening in this environment again.  Hey, we all love anime enough to visit (and sometimes do so while cosplaying) a convention dedicated solely to that topic.  Lets all be friends. ;-; Thank you, Reppy. I kinda felt like that all con. When I wasn't at a panel, I felt incredibly depressed because everyone was having fun with friends but me. Not to mention the friends I did have at the con didn't have a cell phone/had no minutes/had limited minutes and so it was impossible to track them down. Thankfully, this time I'm going with friends this time, and as an added bonus, they all have phones. No more being lonely for me~!

Every breath you take and every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I'LL BE WATCHING YOU.

^ I can't stand those tight little circles, It's like they have a 'back off' shield around them o___o I can understand how much it sucks trying to look for friends who don't have a cell phone, but its easier to find them if you know they'll be down in the gaming room or something XD

@snowshoe
I agree you'll make a great etna, and I think we can agree that that naruto cosplayer was prolly out of their mind
I was a Prinny and Ryouga Hibiki for K-con 2011, got any pictures? I'd love to see them

Actually, I have an opinion on the other side.

I go to cons to hang out with my friends, and it's always nice to make new ones. However, if I'm sitting with my friends in a corner at the end of the day, I'm not going to be pleased with people who come over and randomly attempt to push their way into the conversation. Once, a creepy guy came and sat down right by us, tried to change the conversation, and then tried to get one of us to lend him our cell phone.
Not cool.

I've got to agree with Katie here, they creep me out.
I can appreciate it if you come up and introduce yourself all friendly like, and ask if you can join in the conversation, but I can't deal with it if people just show up and start talking to me >>

heehee i actually did that to 2 dudes (one of them is my friend now XD and he's gonna hang again with me this year) but they were glad that i did that cuz they were all "lost" and "new" at con *i was too lolol* but yea. i love talking to random ppl and freaking them out >:{DDDD
but mostly i just say "hi i love your costume! ^_^<3 how long did it take u? what material did u use? did u have to use different methods for the sewing? etc" i mean i love art so you know ._. but after i can tell they feel uncomfy i say "well nice talking with you! hope you guys have fun! ^_^ and if you guys want to talk again u can just find me on the forums!" yuuupz. =w=

Well, I certainly understand the different perspective, especially coming from a girl.  XD  As a male, I don't have weird guys following me around... as far as I know..

Anyways, what I kind of meant is a little more beyond that.  I'm not saying everyone should be outgoing and "HEY WHAT'S UP DOODS" to every person they come across.  I guess I'm more talking about the groups that might kind of look down on other people because they're not part of the "cool group" or something. xD

I have to second the random people trying to weasel/force their way into a conversation and whatnot. Now don't get me wrong, meeting new people at cons is really awesome, but please also have common decency and manners. It also bothers me when people feel the need to follow us around and pretend like we're OMG BFFS. Believe it or not we just MET 5 MINUTES AGO. Now if people are polite and actually ASK to chill with us, now that's a whole different thing. ;)

And this isn't exactly a peeve as much as it is an annoyance, but when we're surrounded by cameras and we're posing, don't ask if you can take a photo. YOU CAN. We're posing for a reason, and we don't have the time to say yes because that would make for some weird facial expressions in the photos. XD I hope that makes sense. I understand people trying to be polite, but in the middle of a group like that just go for it. WE ARE HERE FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT. :P

Two faced people. The people who are nice to you in person then bash you behind your back. I must admit that I did this at one point but I am working on changing it. I find it really funny that people are mad at me for doing it yet they do it themselves.

wow ._. ppl are weird... i love meeting new ppl and the ONLY way i do it is by randomly saying hi! and telling ppl how great their costumes look. after that i just leave them be! i can tell when ppl don't want me there *obviously not a dumb@ss* but yea. i mean i just HATE it when ppl are like <_< and they give u the stare of "you're uncool get away from here. i don't want to talk to you cuz you obviously look like a loser at cosplaying" yea...
i hate those ppl. and those are the ppl i annoy >:{3 just cuz i hate them! <3~

Oh Con pet peeves.
They always exist.

Mine are pretty simple.

Respect:
Seriously, you're there to have fun. Respect people, respect costumes, and hell, have some respect for yourself. Do you really want to be remembered as the screaming, weaboo, glomping kid, or the person who was taking awesome pictures?

Costumes:
People work hard on them. Don't go ruining them by ripping parts off! This has happened to a friend of mine on several costumes. One being cutting off a chunk of her Sasuke wig. Yes, I'm being serious. Not to mention, if someone is openbound and painted, then it might not be a good idea to hug them. This happened to me. A lot, when I was doing Taboo Sho as Sak this year. It was ridiculous. I was lucky I -didn-t rip my binding.

Elevators:
Every year, At Nan desu kan......The Elevators always got broken. Always. Ten flights of stairs to get to your room? Kthxno.

XD yeah. Besides the obvious confunk, I got nothing else.
K-con 2015-
Lamento: Asato
KnB: Aomine Daiki
TnC: Gunji
Possibilities-
Something from persona, something from SNK, possibly DmmD?

Ahh, creepy guys... I hate them so much ._.

At Fanime, I was cosplaying ffx-2 Rikku, and these two creepy greasy guys who kept talking to me. My friend I was at the con with was changing, and I had to stay in the same place to wait for her. I tried my best to be polite, but I got a bit sharp with them and spent the whole time thinking "aahhhh someone please save me ;-;"

It went on like that the whole day. Some guy even kissed me without permission ;-; I bitchslapped him and was all "what the hell?!"
...but it was so worth it ahaha the nice people who weren't creepy were great, and i was invited to participate in a live stream to japan C: they said my cosplay was really good <3

Not to turn this into a pseudo feminism debate or whatever, but it sometimes can be annoying seeing a girl in a skin-showing costume going "BAW CREEPERS ARE STARING AT ME"

Well isn't it expected that if you're showing your boobs/waist/legs/etc that you'd get attention? If you don't like it, there are tons and tons of more modest costumes that are just as pretty and flattering that won't get you negative attention.
Of course, it still isn't fair that a girl can get negative attention from such things, but that's life, I guess.

Attention is fine, but when people act on it, it gets to me. Like I said before, there was a lot of forced physical contact which made me really uncomfortable.

tl;dr Looking is fine, but NO TOUCHY D:<

Just kidding.

That's super creepy.

And perverted.

And definitely smack worthy!  (And quite possibly a swift kick to the nuts, too!)

I honestly do not understand the logic behind this.

"Hey, this will work out well!"

Like, has any girl ever been like, "Well excuse me stranger, I really like the way you grabbed me in a private area without my permission.  In public, no less!  I like a man that knows what he wants!  So, my place or yours?  Oops, I'll let you decide since my opinions don't really matter much!"

Exactly. Some people are SO DUMB. And then they had the gall to ask for a picture. Hmm, do I want to pose for a picture for the creepy guy who just grabbed my boob? NO WAY, IDIOT >.>

Exactly. If  you like it, you can look, you can take pictures, but you absolutely cannot just run up, grab their boobs, and then ask them for a picture -.-
