Yes, badges are printing right now! We still need to print the letter and the envelopes and stuff, but so they wont mail immeadiately. But, hopefully our reg monkeys will start dropping them off in the mail within the next two weeks. I just thought I would post since I know that some of you are always eager to know :)
Also, there will be a more formal annoucement later, but there is a special treat for pre-reg peoples this year. You know how we always send out a letter with your badge on pretty letterhead with the mascot at top? This year you can take that letter to our merch booth, and they will cut off the art at the top and turn it into a free pin for you! I will post a picture of what the pin will look like a bit later on.
I love the badge designs this year! I will try to get pics up soon.

Just make sure that any pics posted online are taken at an angle. This makes it at least a little harder if anyone wants to make a forged Kcon badge :)

Although I've become somewhat fond of them, so I may bring a lanyard and pouch from a year before and use it anyway, haha. Lanyard has become synonymous with Kumoricon for me, heh.

Yes, I had problems with lanyard + wig too. When I posed for pics, I just turned the lanyard to hang down my back instead of front. Clip on eh? Hmmm...

I was wondering, if I emailed registration would they be able to answer this question? We're having a discrepancy over here about whether or not we've pre-reg'd yet. So, if I emailed the registration folk(s) with our names is there a list they could check to see if we have? I'd like to reg as soon as possible and if we ARE registered it'd be kind of bad to do so twice, y'know? On the other end, to think we're registered then find out down the line we're not...

Can we get an ETA on when the badges will be sent out, cause I just preregged tonight and I was wondering If I would make in the first or second waves of badges.

I'm going to make a guess and say you'll probably be Tier 2 or 3. Pre-Reg starts at Kumoricon, so with about 6 months of time there have probably been enough to fill at least the first tier. But I think Tier 1 is what was being worked on presently, that's just a guess though.

Oh, you'll definitely get it, sooner or later. You're still way ahead of the majority of those who pre-reg or attend, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. But yes, an ETA would always be appreciated.

through the end of February done. If you reg'd after that you'll get yours a

Hi- my mom sent this question to registration AND "acteva@kumoricon.org" about 3 weeks ago and no reply.
She pre regged us back in December 2008. No badges.
Is this mailout now that is being discussed for the first tier or what? I know someone previously mentioned Feb. Since the website said the badges would be mailed out at the end of each tier and i think we are already on the third tier.
Should she call the # on the paypal receipt? Since payment was made in Dec and now its April :/

Yes, this is why I pick mine up at the con.
There's a lot of risk involved in getting them mailed. Making sure you wrote down the right address, worrying about if the person on the other end wrote it down right and mailed it to the same address, if the post office didn't lose the badge or got shipped on the wrong truck, hoping the mail guy put it in the wrong box (happens quite a bit here, actually). Then paranioa sets in, wondering if someone got to the mailbox before you did and took it for their own purposes, it might have spontaneously combusted, or your parents might have thought it was junk mail and threw it away.
I get there as early as I can, but getting in the door first doesn't mean you'll have more to do. You still have to wait for everyone else to get in before they can take pictures or set up for panels.

Same here--every year that we have pre-registered, we've gotten ours in the mail. I do recall getting them around July/August...which is fine and dandy as long as we receive it! ^_^ I'm sure the Badge Master/Mistress have many other things in their lives to deal withz....so-zzz patience is a must-zzz! The way I do them is Child and Youth first so if you are under 18 (or still under 18 before con) yours go out first.

rough estimate of when you ordered your badge and if it was in person or at an event.
I don't check the forums much so I need an email.
I've emailed the people who emailed me who's badges have been mailed.
I'll be emailing the other people who have emailed me when this mailing goes out as well.
We do have a 30 day turn around so if it's been less than a month please wait before you email me. There is a lot of badges we are printing and the poor printer can only do so much at a time. =p
So I appreciate your patience and understanding. We are working furiously to get your badges out to you! :)

i ordered both mine and my son's several months ago and they have not arrived. at what point should we be concerned about them.
i did have to call ans speak with someone about the way the forms read. they were both in my sons name and they said they would change it. but i still have not received anything in the mail or in my email.

Yeah, neither do I or my fiancee, and we registered at the same time. I guess she (Kahlan, my fiancee) got an email last week though saying ours were seen in the batch for the next mailout, so if they are still on a tier system (doubtful), then yours should be in there too.

Badges are being mailed out in batches, and no, I'm not sure how that is being decided.
If you are concerned about your badge, and it has been more than a month, email registration@kumoricon.org with your name, when and how your ordered your badge, and they can find out for you. But please keep in mind it does take some time to process everything.
This year, we are not using lanyards to show you have checked in, but badge holders. So, if you prefer a lanyard, you might want to bring a previous one.

Sometimes, even if you register at the same time, your badge gets lost. Happened to me last year, but not to the person I registered with. Keep the pressure on registration; I eventually got my badge, but only after three hours spent standing in three lines to get my badge reprinted at the con. It was worth it, though.

I live in a neighborhood full of old people. Our white trash lived in the crappy apartments (it was really this huge plantation house that was build when people still had slaves, there were the slave quarters there and everything, they put up walls and made them into apartments) down the street, which was very familiar with cops. XP
But then a few months ago they evicted everyone and burned it down to train the firemen. Was awesome to watch.
But no one knows about cosplay here either. XD

i put sabata. cause he is the most pimp video game char ever. he's like a demon vampire with a gun. so kinda like van helsing. except sabata has a laser gun, that shoots that power of darkness. and the weapons in the game are cool cause they are powered by solar power. (SERIOUS. there is a friggin solar panel on the game!)

Yes, if you want to be constantly stopped by staff because something looks odd about your badge, this is a great idea. If you don't have to be stopped constantly, I reccomend NOT altering your badge. TPTB might decide that an altered badge is not valid.

Anywho. I was able to get into my brothers mail box (as in, he went over there and got it out for me. haha)
And my badge was there! Yay! So today I have a brand new adorable nephew, AND my con badge. I'm a very happy person today. xD;

you could always attach a post it note on the very bottom (so it's not covering anything up) with a chibi on it. and it can be your own personal one. and it can say, just cause ima adult, i still have a chibi inside me two

Mine was pre-reg online to. They told me that if I hadn't gotten in time it would have been at will call thats where they put the badges that don't get mailed out in time so please try not to worry to much as long as you have your state ID so they can tell that your on their mailing list and that you did order your badge you should be fine

If you have your email receipt from Acteva, who completes our online orders, that might help speed things along. I usually print out stuff like that when I go to cons :)

I'm sad, because I kept telling my Mom I wanted to pre-reg online before the date where you can't get it mailed home, but she waited anyway. So now I have to go to will call to get my badge and I have to wait for my friend to get her badge at the con (she didn't even manage to pre-reg!) And also, it's impossible to get lanyards at the con this year (it's my first con ever and I was hoping I could get a lanyard; I know pathetic)

Even those whose badges were mailed still need to check in. This year, instead of lanyards, we're using badge holders to act as proof that people have checked in. The policies page was updated this year (just recently, in August) with the new information:
When you check in, you will receive a holder for your badge. This is proof that you’ve checked in and the best way to keep your badge on your person. Keep your badge in its holder and visible at all times. This is the easiest way for the staff to know that you are allowed inside the Convention Space.

If you are asking if Will Call is open on Friday, the answer is yes.
