Ok im not sure if theres already a thread for this but oh well. Me and my friend are cosplaying from D. Gray Man obviously Im being Debitto while my friend (tofutakeout) Is gonna be Jasdero
And we were hopeing to get some more people and possibly a group for this year or next. ^^
We still need a few more and we CAN have doubles. =]

I'm pretty sure some of last year's gang will be turning up again. We're already planning Sakuracon shenanigans.
That said: while I won't speak for some, I'm pretty damned sure I'll be pre-exorcist Miranda again (hopefully somewhat deghettofied), my brotherling will probably be Tyki again, and Kaasan I'm sure will be doing Cross. That's all I can safely speak to.

no, its okay, I'm pretty good at Styling wigs, just not human hair aparently.
xD anyways, yea, his hair is pretty easy, it almost sorta reminds me of Kakashi from naruto, cuz it goes over his head band like on one side.

well, I'm making his cosplay, probably next year, but I have to do mine in order or it will never get done, so, next year, I plan to get Roxas done first, then Lavi, but he's in top priority, cuz if I'm lucky I might get all my cosplay's done ahead of Schedual and start Roxas this year so i can start Lavi at the begining of Next year, but yea, oh! and I plan to do if first uniform, cuz its my favorite, I don't really know why.

oh man I knew what D-gray man was then(I love you shonen jump). at first though I couldn't place who she was dressed as yet. but the hammer was freaking amazing. then when someone said her name I was like 'OH MY GOD. I love that series.' but then I was dumb after that. someone asked me who she was cosplaying and I said Tyki. and I didn't even know who Tyki was at the time yet I knew his name. 0_0 but now I do. XD lol

I'm probably going to be Fou in her battle form, with the blades on her arms. It's' going to be tricky to make tho'. Any suggestions?
But yea. Either Fou, Allen in his latest form, Daisaya, Road Kamelot, or Lenalee. Fou's my best bet.

Depending if I have time, I will probably be 1st gen. Allen. Since I have to have it done for Sakura-Con 09, anyways. :D But I guess it depends when the photoshoot and such is, because my main cosplays for KCon are going to be Fai and Freya....

the....wrap? yeah the vest is going to be zipped up most of the time. but I'll have a gray top on underneath. yeah those are some crazy pants. not a lot of material needed to make them but time and effort is a yes.

I just know in alot of manga's like D.gray man, The only thing thats truely different is the wording and a few things cut out from it. =3 Anyway....I got some of the cosplay of mine done today I found the gray skin coloring paint liquid and the right contacts and stiching for me and Jasdero.

Aside from the semi-random filler arcs, D.Gray anime is pretty close to the manga. (I admit, I stopped watching the manga though, so I don't know how recent things are.)

Tofu/Kinky: what's the makeup you're looking at? Sometimes you can get the theatricals in larger sizes by going through a supplier. And fair warning, even the "only comes off with soap and water" stuff will still come off with abrasion, so expect to get it on the edges of your clothing and stuff; I think alcohol-activated makeup is the only one that's truly rub-resistant and that stuff's expensive as all get-out and a pain in the bum to get off.
Folks I know who did grey Noah (my brother and a friend this year at Kcon) used, I believe, one of the creme makeups and a powder set over it, followed by a spray sealer. It stays pretty well, but even that comes off a little with rubbing.

we're trying to get gray makeup for playing JasDebi. we can't seem to find the good stuff that won't run for cheap. I think I'm fine with a little rubbing as long as it looks nice and stays on for the most part. it's going to go on our faces, necks, and hands. possibly our arms as well if we can't get a nylon shirt of some sort.

@tofu: costume shops (if you're lucky enough to have one) or theatrical supply stores would be the only ones I know of. I buy mine locally at a dance supply store, but since I'm in southern California, that won't help you any. ;P

hey sam I figured out we don't have to use body paint. acrylic craft paint works really well on skin. I tested it, its non toxic.

Acrylic, as soon as it dries, will flake off of you where you make the most movement or where things rub against you. So the corset pants strings will rub it off, it'll come off on your finger joints, around the mouth, at the wrist, at the elbow and at the edge of the pants.
Just a forewarning. I've painted myself up with the stuff before. It also hurts like a mofo to get it off if it isn't rubbed off.

I would think it'd be bad on your face because of the oil and what not that your face produces... It's almost a guarantee to make your face red, raw and/or break out.

Back from SakuraCon ^^ I got a good pair of white gloves for Allen.
I also just bought some nail polish and some odd white stuff and tested it out -_- The nail polish more or less burned, and one literally dyed my hand red and won't come off -_-''
The white stuff acted more like glue than anything really too... It was some eye shadow stuff that I thought could work but doesn't, and neither does the white nail polish I bought. Maybe I'll just be Allen with brown bangs XDDD
I'm thinking if I can use the one red nail polish that didn't burn my skin on my forehead for the star and then have lip or eye liner (don't know what, so help is loved) for the rest of the symbol that should work... I think... Unless I rub my face a lot x_x Dang oily skin.
Oh and I should be getting the lolita dress tomorrow ^_^ And I also ordered a waaaay better wig for it so I won't be wearing some once-upon-a-time-bob wig that looks like it's only good for Tsukasa (.hack).

If all goes well today I'll be getting all the fabric for the bottom tier of Maria's dress. If not, I'll at least have SOME of it.

And the dress is very cute. I really wouldn't suggest using nail polish for the scar, though. Very bad idea. That stuff isn't meant for skin. The best way to go is to make a reusable one with fabric paint. Draw the design on wax paper with the fabric paint, wait for it to dry, peel it off and then stick it on the skin with spirit gum. Or you could go the route I went with Lenalee's cross scars for her third uniform and just draw it on directly with the fabric paint. That option doesn't come off as well, though.

I was thinking about face paint, but I need the substance to be able to come off my skin relatively well in one or two washes without the use of harsh chemicals. While my skin is highly sensitive, it doesn't seem to be minding this nail polish so much @.@ It took a bit of looking to find a semi-quick drying nail polish or two that doesn't dye my skin red, irritates it and comes off pretty easily. Cause it quick-dries, it comes off more or less via peeling.
I wouldn't think fabric paint would work well since it's meant for a base that isn't oily. @.@ A problem with me, is that my skin's very oily and any make-up I put on I tend to smear. So unless it can dry fast and stay on pretty easily, I can't use it x_x Normal nail polish doesn't work, but quick drying seems to work for me pretty well. I wouldn't suggest it for others though unless they KNOW their skin can handle it for a good 10 hours without bad effects.

If I were you, I would just use some good, not-very-easily-smudgeable eyeliner. It's easy to use and it doesn't look bad at all. ;) But that's just my professional opinion.

Well see eye liner or lip liner would work maybe, 'cept that I rub my face a lot x_x So odds of it smearing would be high. And unless it came off easy to fix, I can't do it. That and most make-up substances annoy my skin T-T I'm more or less pretty sure nail polish'll work for me though because it doesn't smear and I can feel it on my skin so I can't smear it. And it'll come off pretty easily in case I do Allen Saturday, not Monday.

I could, possibly, but then I wouldn't be able to get the costume to stick to my skin when I have to tape it to myself to keep it from loosing its shape. Besides, the cleavage is half the fun. The other half is passing out from not being able to breathe and falling off the stilts.

All my butterfly wings are symmetrical now, some idiot went through my room and mashed my butterfly into a corner and the wings got kinda bent. I bent them back, though, and they all match again.

Allen, So far as I know, has never actually had bangs. So just go with whatever you think feels right. Maybe taper it in a little bit, slightly shorter in the middle and then graduating longer towards the sides of your face?

I'm totally loving the wig, debating how to trim the bangs if at all...
But the lolita dress can buuuuurn just cause of a dang zipper that keeps getting stuck x.x I got stuck in it yesterday again when I tried to put it on by myself again. It's official: It takes me a good hour to get into the costume by myself x.x
By the way, do we have any sort of time for when we should be meeting up? We haven't mentioned that at all in a while.. I have it in my notes written down for Monday?

We gotta have it either right before or right after the cosplay contest, otherwise I won't be able to attend as Grave of Maria, and I can't wear that costume for more than an hour while doing a lot of moving. It's not that it's uncomfortable so much as it's STILTS.
People may be able to convince me otherwise, especially my Cross. If she and our Lavi can get me to do it for more than an hour then I suppose we could have it at any point in time.

Well I ain't got the bottom skirt put together yet, so I don't know how comfortable it's gonna be. I can tell ye right now that my left arm will be annoying as hell after a while, and I'm just kinda afraid otherwise of the top flopping open despite the massive amounts of dress tape I'll use to hold it shut.
Not to mention limited visibility and ability to breathe. But if my Cross and Lavi make a fuss about it I'll prolly be able to just stand really still for them.
And I started my arm. My fingers know the burn of Wonderflex once again, but otherwise so far it looks pretty win.

I would go for the one in the one in the first link. The ribbon more accurately matches most of the pictures of the character and you wouldn't need to go get stockings after that. It looks well made as well. That's just my opinion though... Still, hope it helps!

Don't mind me but I think Road's outfit isn't worth $66-$85. It's a white shirt, a black skirt, and ribbon. We could easily make that for way cheaper~

As I've said before, I won't be able to attend as Grave of Maria if it's not around the Cosplay Contest. I've just finished my arm thingie, and it's a little... Intersting to wear. As in my arm gets stuck in it rather often, though I think I've fixed that problem.
Y'all don't have to have me there if y'all don't want me there because of scheduling issues. But still, wouldn't it be nice to have the photoshoot on one of the busier days so as to have more publicity for the thing? I mean really, what's the point of getting together on Monday if it's only gonna be three of us and one photographer?

Okay, Lenalee is right out for one of them. I've already worn her to a photoshoot and quite frankly around normal people I look pretty silly because Lenalee is supposed to be short and I most certainly am not. So Deke for the Saturday one and Maria for the Sunday one it is.
If anyone wants to be mind controlled!Lavi with me, I'm game. We'll need a Road too, but that shouldn't be too hard.

I'll be Kanda in 2nd uniform [again... my plans for making a 1st uniform and/or a shirtless!Kanda are slowly dying..] and maybe a semi-formal!Kanda. I've also been considering doing a "zombie"!Kanda--you know, when Road was Lavi under control, surrounded by dead Exorcists, etc... Lt, you know what I'm talking about. But I'm not exactly sure how that would differ from a regular 2nd uniform, other than acting brain-dead and moaning a lot, if that.
We also have a Miranda in 2nd uniform [maybe also in formal and/or pre-Exorcist], and maybe a Lavi [1st uniform] and an Allen [pre-Exorcist]. I'll have to check if the last two are still up for doing DGm cosplay..... but they're probably abandoning us. D<
I also vote for both days, but we all know there will be more than two shoots in the end. XD Another night photoshoot would be nice, for those with light-up props and for those who well, just like night shoots, but that definitely doesn't have to be an official shoot.

I told her if she got it to me by the convention, I'd try as hard as possible to go to the one up by her XD; If I don't have the plushie Tim, I'll be taking my styrofoam Tim, which is hard to balance and the tail could break xD
Speaking of it, the... odd Lolita Allen that I'm doing... I finished the hat. The flower thing I was going to do, was taking too much problems to get it to stay/look right. So I made a hat out of spare fabric, cardboard from a pizza box (including the piece the pizza was on), and some plastic flowers XD What do you think? It look ok?

Sunday, not at 1pm cause that's the KH shoot for me, would work. And any time on Monday (which is the day I'll be in Allen). Both those days look free. The problem with at least Sunday is that since the schedule isn't out yet, the big events might clash @.@ *stabs people* Give us the schedule!
But that's my opinion. Some people will try to go to the photoshoots even if they clash with the events, but some will go to the events over that... *shrug*

I'm free whenever, because.. I'm a lazy cosplayer, and DGM is the only thing I know that I'm doing. :Db
But if anyone remembers what days and times they usually have the large events, that would be great. I think I would skip most of the events for a 'shoot, but it depends. We should try to schedule around the most popular [especially cosplay chess and skits, and Guest panels and interviews] and try to get around the much-loved ones too [like Slightly Anime Dating Game]. So, does anyone remember what times those usually are? Because I have no idea. D: Except that the Dating Game is likely more night-time, and Chess and Skits are probably more noon-ish?

Yeah main events scare me. I'm not sure about the skits... Usually in years past they're between 3 & 5pm, but Sakuracon decided to throw it at like 11am.. I dunno if Kumori'll follow suit or not. Then the masquerade is as night time, usually like 7pm or so. And yeah, chess is usually around noon. But the skits are -usually- day #2, which would be Sunday. It's hard to tell.
I don't think I can skip out on the Ranger panel or the dodgeball- if we get to have that- whenever those are. I really need the schedule before I offer up any times for Sunday. I think we should try to have one on Sun & Monday- if we have enough people.

It would be nice if other people could contribute to this, so we know when other people will be free..
Do you know if the 'shoots are allowed to overlap? So far I don't think any are.. but it's a large area this time, so it's not like we'll be stepping on each others' toes trying to get everyone together.
Would earlier in the day work, or more like afternoon-evening?

And where do you guys want to have it? I think Pioneer Square would be best, but there's also the waterfront park and Chapman Square/Lowns Dale Square. We could have do a Square a day?

Yeah, Pioneer Square is less than two blocks from the hotel. The other two around about three blocks away, and the waterfront is about six. So they're all pretty close, actually. Hopefully two blocks counts as "con area" for you? 'Cause I have no idea how big the lobby is, or how great it would be for photoshoots.
So maybe around 2-ish for Sunday?

It's more of a safety issue for them since they'll have their two little sisters with them -who've never been to a con. Hopefully, we bring them Monday instead of one of the busier days, but we won't know until the actual con.

Please ignore anything you may or may not have seen that was angry involving the photoshoot time on Sunday that was here before I posted from a computer I just found.
Due to the current hair-brained idea as to what time the photoshoot should be, I can't make Sunday's shoot as Maria if I'm going to get to both Kingdom Hearts shoots, of which I basically have a nearly moral obligation to do so. However, I can make it as Deke since that costume and Demyx both involve binding. It shouldn't be particularly hard to get in and out of those costumes (but if I show up to the DGM photoshoot in my Organization boots, or to the KH photoshoot wearing the wrong floor-length coat, I'm blaming you guys) so I ought to be fine.
If you want pictures with Maria, though, you'll have to get them before or after the cosplay contest, or at the photoshoot on Monday. Because those are basically the only times I will physically be able to make enough time to get in or out of that costume.

I have no idea when anything is taking place. So for all I know these times could be overlapping everything I want to do but...this IS what I want to do the most ( since I missed BOTH shoots at Fanime.)

I made sure that they're not overlapping any photoshoots, and that they're not overlapping any of the major events either.

No, one is already set in Fountain Plaza and the other is in Pioneer Square. Besides, I think something is already happening in one or the other while we're at the opposite. If that made sense.

Yep. For some reason I thought that the shoot locations were switched, and I was freaking out about the massive amount of stairs at Pioneer Courthouse Square and my stilts. Turns out I had nothing to worry about because I had them switched, so we ought to be fine.
In fact, if I don't get pictures at Pioneer Courthouse as Lavi, I will probably try to strangle myself with my eyepatch.

XD I'll be sad if I don't get any pics of me in the lolita Allen at all. I want to try it on tomorrow with the petticoat I have but I'm afraid I'll get stuck in it (like I have before) and have to wait until my mom gets home from work to get it off of me.... While I'd have to sit on like Towels and stuff so it doesn't get covered in cat/dog hair x_X;
Got a tip for how to store a dress that's a magnent to hair if you don't have one of those big clothing bags? I'm paranoid to fold it up into a drawer

The dry cleaner in my area sends you home with a thin plastic clothing bag. You could try checking out the ones where you live to see if they do the same thing, or could even give you one for free...

Goodwill might have garment bags. If not, a black plastic trash bag with a hole in the top for the hangar and tied in a knot at the bottom with the dress inside will work just as well.
Got a new eyepatch~ My old one with two straps got stolen by my little sister, and then she gave it to my stepdad when he got hit in the eye with a baseball, and it got gunky so he threw it away. I was not the happiest rabbit in the world when I found out. But oh well.

I DIDN'T GET ANY PICTURES OF YOU, I'M SORRY!! I wish I did.... but the only time I saw you in that costume was on stage.
I'm at my friend's house [still in Portland, whoo] for a few days, so I don't think I'll have any pictures until after I get back home. Not that I had a lot anyway. D: The light meter on my film camera died, and that was sad. So I didn't get any awesome pictures; just the typical photoshoot ones.
But if anyone has any pictures of me, that'd be great. I think I was the only second uniform Kanda there.
Also, to other!Kanda: my dA is PiercingNisha. That's pretty much the only thing I check, but I don't really post anything. So find me and I'll send you stuff.

*Cries* I dont understand!! Every morning I get up, put in on my make up look in the mirror and think " hey I look damned good" but the camera oh GOD THE CAMERA!! I dont think Im going to cosplay Kanda again. >_<
