A Crazy Anime Tribute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3cR1xahljc) - I like this one for a couple of reasons. One is that my wife has been running the Unofficial Cats Don't Dance Fansite (http://cdd4ever.com/) since 1997, so the song is definitely one I am familiar with. Another, is that I recognize all the anime being shown, and lastly, the creator of the AMV made an effort to do lipsink. I think that adds quite a bit to any AMV.

A beautiful video about the celebration of all that is life. Beauty, sorrow, pain, love, blood, hate. Everything it has to offer. While even the creator will tell you it's simply an anime version of the song's original video, it exhibits such emotion to me that it's become my favorite AMV since it came out five years ago.

The song already conveys thoughts and feelings I have all the time, as I'm sure countless others have. But to add in one of my favorite animes to it, and to perfectly portray the perverted, undeniably likeable main character makes this one as another top video.

I remember re-naming the file name in my playlists as "chewing-the-mike.avi" because there's this (live action) grungey dude popping up all over the place all the way through. It took me a second or third listen to actually get into the lyrics. My wife was similarly distracted; "Who's the creepy guy who needs a shave and a shower?"

Definitely a strong and thoughtful AMV. The sense of loss is and despair is very strong, but since the pain seems to be a consequence of promiscuity, I wonder whether the underlying moral of the song could be that it's better to wait - no matter how long - while you become someone who can make and keep a life-long promise, then search - no matter how long - for a lover who can do the same for you... (which is a VERY common theme and expectation in anime romances...)

Kinda like observing a ship wrecked on a shoal as a warning to the rest of us, "Chart a different course, it doesn't have to end up this way..."

Did you then realize that the grungy dude is the lead singer of the band that sings the song? :P Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters

I think the song is telling the opposite actually: to not wait, to run past the moments of hesitation and live. More to the point, it focuses on the concept of pain and the instinctive response to turn away from it whenever possible. However, continually following this instinct robs the person of the eventual pleasures that come in allowing the possibility of pain, as well as helps appreciate those pleasures. Shinji from Evangelion learns this same lesson himself in the end of EoE. The AMV, as well as the song's actual music video, displays various aspects of life itself, to present all it has to offer by allowing oneself to be vulnerable and taking risks, both physically and emotionally.

It's really one of those "You had to be there" kind of moments. I'll just add randomly placing clips can be super hillarious and eveyone should try it.

Oh! That would be interesting. If you find/make anything like that I'd love to see it. I'm very much a Beck fan (although I didn't like a couple of the albums previous to his newest one).
