Title: First timer
Post by: Tengu on February 13, 2005, 11:01:05 am
This year I'm planning on going as Jiraiya (Naruto) and Genma (Ranma). Sadly last year I couldn't cosplay, but I'm going to work really hard on getting at least one costume done this year.

So, does anyone have any helpful info for a firstime cosplayer?

haha, welcome to the world Cosplay!  I don't have any advise for you since I have no tanlent at sewing whatsoever.  But maybe I do have a tip for you, try finding other characters from they same series yours are from, it's going to be so much more fun, and you guys will attract so much more attention.  :D

Get started on your costume early.
Seriously, don't put things off!
Even if you manage to get your costume done the day before the con you never know if it it'll break just walking down the hall unless you have a chance to check it out first.

I highly suggest having a hotel room if you're dressing in any sort of bulky or hot costume, you'll want to be able to put it away for awhile and breathe and a locked room is great for that.

Finally, I agree with Aurora, it's much better when you have a group to hang with and play off of. The more in character you are the better the cosplay (note, this does not always apply to murderers and other general bad guys).

Me and my friends are going to share a hotel room, and we're planning on doing a Ranma theme for one day.

Good point, last year we had two Miroku in my group,  one of them "unintentionally" did what Miroku usually does twice!  And I wasn't even Sango!

^_^ I'm a first timer. I'm going as Yuzuki from Chobits... Pyun.
My (3) friends are also cosplaying...
Aislyn = Rosette (Chrono Crusade)
Megan = Some person form and Anime I've never heard of. -sweatdrop-
Lauren = Sango (Inuyasha)

I'm so excited... I've done Harry Potter Cos before, but that's not really the same.

Hey a Miroku costume would be awsome. I would totaly do that, if it didn't sound so hard. That would be a really hard robe to make and all. I think.
