Title: skit performance question..

my friends and I were thinking of doing a skit for 2009, but we were wondering whether or not the costumes we wear have to be made by a member of our group...

skit? I dont think so.

if your entering the cosplay contest (as in costumes not the skits) then whoever made the costume gets the award, not the model.

Nope.
Like xxxchihiroxxx already said, if your costume is being judged, the person who made it gets the award.  As for the skit itself, whoever made your costume does not matter.
