I'm really sentimental during anime for some reason. Off the top of my head things in manga/anime/video games that have made my cry (potential spoilerz):oh man I got close to tears during that part of samurai champloo. I was like 'what? no this can't happen!' ha ha it has to be a really good series to me and the sad part has to be just right.
- Shanks losing his arm in One Piece
- Mugen, Jin, and Fuu walking their seperate ways in Samurai Champloo
- Shino falling into a coma in .hack//ROOTS (.hack//G.U. was a very watery affair for me as well)
- Rukia's flashback to her early days as a soul reaper with Kaien in Bleach
- Asuma's death
- Hikaru's unrequited love in Ouran
- Avatar the Last Airbender finale (specifically Zuko's reunion with Iroh, Sokka and Toph thinking that they won't make it, and Aang and Katara's final kiss)
I am such a baby :D
I cried watching Naruto when the Hokage died.same.
And FMA made me cry multiple times.
:D
I can't believe no one has mentioned this but Cowboy Bebop....the last episodeyour right *ashamed* I can't believe I didn't think of that. I love cowboy bebop so much. I did cry during that.
also wolf's rain and when Asuma died as well....I cried hard in both of those... OH and when Zabuza died too ;_;
OH and when Zabuza died too ;_;
Pokemon: Episode when Pikachu almost leaves, that made me cry and the bye bye butterfree episode
Pokemon: Episode when Pikachu almost leaves, where Ash is stuck in a snowstorm and has to build a cave, and the first and third movie.DD8
FMA: The episode where it shows them burning down their house.... Didn't they do that in like... the first? xD (or 2nd idk ouo)
ANGEL SANCTUARY! Oh god, hardest I've ever cried for a book.
My wife cries alot when we watch anime. And yes FMA made me cry my eyes for the first time ever with an anime. Not sure I have cried to many times after that. Samuri X (aka Kenshin) was pretty sad. There are alot of anime that affect me emotionaly, not just saddness but anger too. Those are always the best ones, the anime that can get you emotionaly invested in it.
I cried a few times in pokemon. Oh and in FMA when Hughes died and his daughter kept saying "why are they putting him in the ground? Daddy has work to do...."i know....i am the same with that one...
wow starting to tear up just thinking about it
Pokemon: Episode when Pikachu almost leaves, where Ash is stuck in a snowstorm and has to build a cave, and the first and third movie.
the first one to ever make me cry was... Kimi ga Nozomu Eien or Rumbling Hearts at the end of the first ep....if i remember right that one ep made a wave of like depression or something to that effect across japan ... o.O or it just mite be here say ....Quote
OMG I totally agree. That was so sad. But beautiful none the less
Ouran made me cry from laughing! (https://www.kumoricon.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi4.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy136%2Fslorgje%2Fgaia%2520icons%2Ficon_whee.gif&hash=019a3bac2048580064a77f98cbb680a3d6e4a95d)I'm with ya sister
Air TV was freaking sad. I bawled like a baby. I also got emotional durring Elfen Lied when she isnt being a sadistic creepy girl!Heck yeah, an anime about a girl that'll die if she has any friends? What in the weird!
Spoiler AlertYeah, loss of memory, or alteration of memory, is a common tactic in anime, and it often makes me cry. Other shows that used it were: Clannad, Pita Ten, Shonen Onmiyoji, Code Geass, Bleach, Please Teacher, Full Moon, etc. I think I probably cried during all of them. There is something about having everyone forgeting that you were ever there, of having your presence totally removed, having your very existence erased, that is much worse than dying. It always makes me cry. :'(
I have not watched any that made me, but the closest one would have to be Kanon.
Almost everyone has lost their memories, it is so sad.
Thats why Tsubasa Chronicle makes me sad is because no matter how many feathers Sakura gets back she will never remember Shauron.Spoiler AlertYeah, loss of memory, or alteration of memory, is a common tactic in anime, and it often makes me cry. SPOILER ALERT!Ditto.
And I cried in Fushigi Yugi when Nuriko died. ;.; That was sure depressing.
lol Zatch Bell made me weep a lot. XD
@blackstar
oh my gosh. zatch bell was a tear jerker. in both cases of sad and hilarious as hell. XD
Ghost in the Shell SAC 2: When the tachikomas suicided to eat a nuke before it went off.I KNOW! I loved the tachikomas, they were my favorite characters in that series! Then you see their emotionless replacements at the end and kind of feel ill.
I've come close a couple of times, but the only one that succeeded in making me cry was Grave of the Fireflies.
^ya know I think pokemon did that for me as well. :-\
do games count? I bawled at the end of Crisis Core. I love that game so very very much. It had a great story and the way they tied everything together was flawless.
Yeah, no kidding. Nobuo Uematsu is a master of emotional and conceptual song composition. Minimalism can break hearts, and Aeris' Theme is a wonderful example of this, starting off with nothing but solitary piano notes.
If anything gets me to tears quickly, it is hearing the music and letting myself think of the emotions of the characters. I tend to get sucked into FF with an amazing amount of empathy way too quickly.
I cried for FMA
and I hate to admit but I cried like a baby in Avatar The Last Airbender with Uncle Iroh oh an Appa.
FMA!
FMA!
Definitely FMA. The part with the dog-daughter-chimaera, that whole episode or two was just insanely heavy.

xD That was the one that made me cry the most.
The REAL Yugioh, namley the ancient Egyption arc.
I will never EVER forgive 4Kids for ruining that show.
Most anime/TV/games dont really make me feel anything for the characters, its fake, its overdone its just ..not convincing.
But the creator of Yugioh really got all of the emotion through.
The majority of the series is really quite sad but the end was the worst. After everything it actually end. The main character is gone. for good. Its over. The end.
( it also confuses the hell out of me. I still dont completley understand certain parts of the story)
I cried MORE when I saw YGO GX. Its a lie. A hideous lie!
Can I possibly add a video game? If not, oh well, haha, Final Fantasy X had me going by the ending...but wanna know the game that really killed me? Crisis Core. By the end of that game, Multnomah Falls had nothing on me! I was a waterfall, I'm telling you.

Noooooooo! I bawled my eyes out. I know, I was soooo sad too! I was like...they're gonna bring him back, I know it...they will! >:( Transmutate something!...put him in a doll for all I care! Bring him baaaack~~~!... :'( Gah...
Dude, Hugh made me soooo sad.>> I loved him.;-; D< AND THEY PURPOSEFULLY DO THAT. Make the most adorable, lovable character, with everything to live for, and then kill'em off.
;-; "Why're they putting daddy in the ground? Daddy has to go to work. Daddy..." ;-;;;;;;;;;;;
I've cried reading Naruto... >> [is narutarded]
*spoiler*
the idea for a spoiler is to make it too small to read at a glance, this was not, and yes it spoiled it for me thanks please make it smaller
Hm, when I was younger ANY of the Pokemon movies would make me cry. Now I have the experience to know that whoever dies really isn't dead.
Toradora. Oh my god. I bawled my eyes out at episode 19 : [ I adore Taiga so much~~!!
most recent one is Code Geass when i finished it
i was bawling
I cry easily so my list would probably be long ._____.;;; I'll shorten it to bawling XD
AIR. Of course. You can't NOT cry. When she was running towards him and "Goal" TT-TT Waaauuuhhhh
Chrno Crusade. The anime ending made me CRY, and manga ending made me BAWL.
This is embarrasing. Full Moon volume 4 XD When Takuto tells Mitsuki he loves her, and she starts yelling at him D:
Well, actually, in general, Arina Tanemura manga make me cry.
When Zen died in KKJ, I cried. And I cried like every volume in Shinshi Doumei Cross.
ION and Kyoko are the only exeptions really. Her art just portrays the emotion so well ;___;
Erementar Gerad. The last episode was so sad, but it got happy ;D I'm still waiting to see how the manga ends :(
Rurouni Kenshin. Quite obvious WHY.
Ones that didn't kill me but made me sniffle: Hibiki's Magic, Sand Chronicles (It can only get sadder), FMA, Millenium Snow
*CRYBABY* God XD
god, when i finished code geass you would've thought that my whole family had died.x3
that episode with Euphie made me sob D: Lelouch didnt mean to do that! TT_TT she had almost fixed everything and it was just an acident!god, when i finished code geass you would've thought that my whole family had died.x3
Sahara cried and I just sat their.
I never really got to enjoy the anime because I was so upset that they killed off the two best characters..
Euphie and Mao. x3
I know everyone has one. I just started watching Tsubasa Chronicle and I know I will end up crying at least once before the series is over. Have you ever cried while watching anime? or had an anime that really got to you in some way?Full Metal Alchemist and Peacemaker Kurogane
Chrono crusade (Rosette and chronos deaths)
Time to add another one. Valkyria Chronicles 18 & 19. In episode 18, when Rosie starts to sing, I almost cried. In episode 19, I cried with Welkin. I am such a softie.
Anyone taking bets on the crying that will commence for those watching Tokyo Magnitude 8.0? I have a feeling that sombody is going to find out their family members are dead. Anyone else feel the same?
I also think I will take a poll on who watched episode 1 of Cross Game and didn't cry. I have yet to find one person. :'(
Just finished watching Tactics. The final episode... BWAAAA.... ??? :'(
Anime made that made me cry eh :'(? Hmm, on full contemplation of this I thought that the ending to Tactics made me cry when Ayaname (I think that's her name) dies and gives her farewells to the other characters. That performance by Cynthia Martinez (The American voice actress who played Ayaname in Tactics) her performance was just so beautiful, and so heartwrenching, that I couldn't help but cry. Take a look at it yourself and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The anime Over Drive made my cry.
Yep of coerce a sports anime would make me cry >< The anime is all heart

Did you see the first episode of Cross Game? It's about baseball. ;D I started watching Over Drive a long time ago when it was first released, but I think the subbing group I was getting it from dropped it. I will have to go find an alternate and finish it up. I think I was on episode 5 or so. :-\
@_@ you missed the best episodes 17 and 18 T_T I was crying because I saw myself in Shinozaki
Anyone who doesn't cry from Grave of the Fireflies is a cold-hearted freak. :'(

'Cause I'm mean and heartless... here's another link (http://www.cosplay.com/photo/665710/) for the most famous emotional scene in all of gaming. A Cloud cosplayer and one of my favorite Aeris cosplayers ever re-enacted it in the hotel pool at Sakuracon '05.
This is going to sound very stupid, but about the only anime that's ever made me cry is Naruto. And it's managed the feat repeatedly.
edit: reads thread Good, it isn't just me! Do we have a spoiler code? I'm not seeing it in the options...
TTATT I managed to get through Hughes's death, but the funeral scene was what made me bawl. True, it had funny parts- Which is what made it good :3 A nice balanceSame for me..
Now that you mentioned Pokemon, I remembered that the one thing that made me cry was when Ash was supposedly dead in the first movie with Mewto. Pikachu couldn't stop crying and that made me cry.i saw it opening day, and i swear that everybody in the theatre was in tears.

I still cry here. Then when they take about him on the train, not knowing he had died.

I was sorta happy when Aerith died...( WORST PERSON YOU COULD HAVE IN YOUR PARTY) Speaking of music...EUREKA 7 dramaticness...and all those sad songs in the NARUTO soundtrack such as "Alone" and others...

Being happy when Aeris/th died... well, obviously you hate freedom and want the terrorists to win. (^_~)
Joking aside, you reminded me of one I'd forgotten - the second Bleach OP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKh-CWUobNI), in the context of (spoiler) Rukia giving herself up to be executed.
Clannad ~ After Story. THERE WERE MANY TEARS.
I cried through Nana
Nausicaa
ponyo
pokemon... I was young!
I just remembered another thing I'm pretty sure made me cry. That one episode of Pokemon where Ash and Pikachu find that Pikachu colony in the forest and Ash is all, "Pikachu is having so much fun, maybe I should leave him here. I think he'd be happier." and then that song played with a bunch of flashbacks.
;;;;;;;;A;;;;;;;; Noooooooooo, you need each other! Don't leeeeeeeeeave him behiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind! *sobs like a little girl*
DIGIMON.
Chrono Crusade made my oldest daughter cry. (She is 11)
Well, FMA made me tear up many times for many reasons. When Nina Tucker died, for one.
But the anime that really made me sob was Kuroshitsuji, as strange as it sounds. In the last two episodes, Sebastian is gone, and that helplessness that Ciel must have been feeling really got to me. The fact that he kept trying when he really was losing hope. And the fact that after having Sebastian by his side for two years, and after what happened to him before Sebastian came along, he's completely alone, in a foreign country, with no money, at a critical point. He was so young, and no one should have to go through all that.I had mascara all over my face by the time I was done with the last two episodes. I took a picture of myself. It's not very pretty. Black everywhere. :'( ;)
In FMA, when Hughes died. I still can't even think of that. I loved him so much. :(
Oh, geez. I thought that scene was hard to watch in the original, but it was even heavier in the reboot. The daughter's dialogue in that scene just break your heart.
I know everyone has one. I just started watching Tsubasa Chronicle and I know I will end up crying at least once before the series is over. Have you ever cried while watching anime? or had an anime that really got to you in some way?
I've heard that Clannad is really sad, but that's all I've heard about it. Does anyone recommend the series for any reason other than it being sad?
@wuntvor - Never seen any of those; haven't even heard of some of them...
I've never really thought about it before, but I think the ending of Blue Seed was kind of sad, but the good sad. Momiji "dies" for all of Japan; then Susano-oh blesses her, bringing her back to life. Touching moment...
An anime tha made me cry was kanon. QQ And it still does.
Grave of the Fireflys
I've heard that Clannad is really sad, but that's all I've heard about it. Does anyone recommend the series for any reason other than it being sad?I is very well done. Good story and Characters. The first season is not so sad but the second season (Clannad After Story) will make even the most hardened tough guy shed waterfalls.

There is Clannad (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5101) (22 eps + 2 specials, alternate ending), Clannad After Story (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5841) (22 eps + 3 specials, alternate ending) and Clannad the Motion Picture (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4402) (w/1 special recap). I would recommend watching the series before the movie, or it will spoil everything for you. :'(
I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Samurai X. :[
Also, the Fruits Basket manga made me cry quite a bit actually. I love that series.
Also, the Fruits Basket manga made me cry quite a bit actually. I love that series.Ahh, me too surprisingly. That's the first and only manga that's ever made me cry, and it managed to do it a couple times. I'm usually pretty stoic while reading/watching sad scenes in works of fiction.
I don't remember if this has been mentioned or not, but there's one episode of FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood that almost made me cry. The soldier who had the cute 3-year-old daughter that he was so proud of, crying about how her daddy needed to finish his work as his colleagues bury his casket.
I know people have said this already, but I cried during FMA when Hughes died. And I started crying even harder when his daughter didn't know why they were burying daddy :'(Yes, that one. I didn't shed a tear, but would imagine that Ed and Al were/would be pretty super saiyan 2 about it. And Sonny Strait got such a short time playing him.
Episode 11 of El Hazard: The Wanderers.
one that really made me cry. was Grave of the fireflies.
Elfin Lied. The entire show was sad.
When I was younger.... MUCH MUCH YOUNGER!
I can't recall what episode AT ALL! But I know I cried at an episode of Digimon.... I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE!
BUT I DID! XD I REMEMBER IT!
Manga rather than anime, but - the scene at the end of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle where "Syaoran" and "Sakura" are reunited in Hong Kong, and they go speechless and hug each other was one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever seen. It's not even sad, it just got to me in a weird way and put me on the verge of tears.
And teh ending of Samurai 7. So bittersweet...
Just watched final episode of Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8181). :'(
I cried so hard at the end of Honey and Clover. < / 3My daughter is hooked on this anime. She said she cried too.
Just finished this one. I made my wife and I both cry. alot.Just watched final episode of Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8181). :'(
SAME HERE!!!!
AnoHana has been a pretty killer show as far as "Bawwww" factor goes to begin with.... but I was literally doing that ugly cry where you have to gasp for air every once in awhile for pretty much the entire last episode.... Episode 5 was another really tough one for me in that show, but that's just because for some reason I really love Yukiatsu. =/
What about the end of Code geass?! I cryed a little when *will not spoil* died. I couldn't belive it! And he made *also will not spoil* do it! SOOOO SAD even if it did have to happen!!!! EVEN SADDER THAN WHEN EUPHIMIA DIED!!!!!
I cried when I watched the last episode of Elfen Lied. (I love that anime sooo much.)Agreed. That and the scene with the dog.
Yes. That scene almost made me throw up cause animal abuse is just not right even in cartoon terms.I cried when I watched the last episode of Elfen Lied. (I love that anime sooo much.)Agreed. That and the scene with the dog.

That's actually the only episode I haven't seen yet. The entire series has made me laugh so far, except the episode where we see the young girl being victimized by her foster dad; that pissed me off for many reasons (including that this was shown at my anime club). I can see the animal abuse, depending on what goes on, being a tear-jerker.

That anime was messed up in so many aspects... Just like...NO. WHAT KIND OF FREAKING KIDS BEAT UP A LITTLE DOG. In the end, it was kind of worth it at the end. It made me happy, also, I laughed at the part when the narrarator said "QUAGMIRE."
One Piece surprisingly made me cry..Aw... Yeah, bro... Usopp loved that ship.. It made me so sad.. And... The flash backs with kid Ace and kid Luffy made me tear up so bad...
<SPOILER if you haven't seen it>
I cried when Bell-mère was killed by Arlong, when Usopp got beat up by the Franky Family for the 200,000,000 berri and when he tried to get it back, and when they burned the Going Merry.
Mawaru Penguindrum. Especially the finale episode!OH MY GOD.
Mawaru Penguindrum. Especially the finale episode!
Higuma's list of anime guaranteed to make you cry.
1. Clannad: After Story
2. Ano Hana
3. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
4. Grave of Fireflies
5. Chrono Crusade
6. Full Metal Alchemist (Huges Death)
I there are more but that is all I can think of right now.

Does Sonic X count as an anime? Regardless..I..omg...Now THAT is pathetic xD
Spirited Away -- When Chihiro/Sen helped Haku/Kohaku reclaim his identity and the joyful plummet through the sky.
FFX & X-2's endings...especially if Yuna decides not to bring Tidus back.
