Im going to try to go as Zoro (from one peice), Kiba (from Wolfs Rain), and Im thinking of... dang i lost it

I need to get most of my costumes fixed, they are all too big.
And I want to be in a group cosplay next year, so if any group needs an extra member, let me know^^

When you're made fun of for being overweight all your life, you tend to come to hate words such as "Fat". Its a complex of mine.

I'll be going as at least Squall from Final Fantasy 8, and Leon, Kingdom Hearts' version of the same character. However, MY Leon will be the one from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, not the original... So the costume's the same, but I'm making my own deck of Chain of Memories cards for Leon... I have most of it complete but unfortunately I still need some art for the Shear Trigger, Flame Saber and Lionheart gunblades, as well as for Hi-Potion, Turbo Ether (Mega Ether?) and Phoenix Down...
So yeah, if anybody has art they'd like to let me use for these, or would like to do art for these cards, e-mail me. (tpierce104@hotmail.com)
The other two costumes I'm hoping to have done by then are Squall's SeeD trainee uniform (from the Dollet mission) and Squall's actual SeeD uniform (from the dance, and for KumoriCon's dance)... But those depend upon whether or not I can get my mother to make them for me. Wow, that's pathetic. I need to learn to sew. Lol
These aren't set in stone, I've been mulling around going as Sephiroth (FF:AC version), or as Knuckles from Sonic Adventure 2... But that'd be bizzare to attempt so unless I can get it perfect, I'm not gonna.

Ed seems to be gaining popularity. I dressed up as Ed for 2004 for all three days. I wonder if anyone remembers seeing a black hair Ed wandering around the con aimlessly. XD

We need TONs of time to work on these, but my wife is making a couple of Last Exile costumes, and has an Ifurita in the works as well. (I am building that axe/key thing)
I have started a Shirahime (Angelic Layer) for her, and if we ever get MORE time (yeah, right) we would like to try Kirara-dono from Samurai 7. She wants me to try Katsushiro, but I don't think I'm quite handsome enough. I might try Gorobei or Heihachi instead, he's kinda One-Piece-ish.
If someone has a large RED jacket left over from Trigun, you can modify it easily and do Kyuzo.

Well, since I've worn as many as six costumes to a three-day con (Sakuracon 2004), I can't really talk about moderation. It was a lot of costume-changing, though. Still, I had fun doing it, and I have five costumes planned for Sakuracon 2005. Three are reprises though. The new ones are Haruhara Haruko and Edward Elric; I might make an appearance as Ed at Kumori if I'm not in Japan by then!

Last year was the attack of the Naruto invasion! O_O Almost evrywhere I turned I saw a Naruto character, not that that's a bad thing though. ^^ Just very interesting.

I'm hoping last year didn't kill off the idea of going next year as a Naruto character. I'm thinking of cosplaying as Kakashi and maybe one other character.
After last year, I want to go as any character that people will recognize.

:oops: Wow, I feel like a dork. Hiya, I'm kinda really really new to the anime and anime conventions scene. I checked Kumoricon out last year on Monday (the only day I actually had off work since I didn't know about it till I read about it in the Oregonian on one of my breaks the Friday before and talked my friend into going along with me who's a newbie too) Anyway, I found that this is definately something I really want to get invovled in and I'm looking forward to this year, I'm going all three days. But my delima is this, I'm really limited in the way of imagination and anime experiance to think of a cosplay costume for myself. Help me please! I'd like to post a pic of myself, maybe just by looking at me you can think of something simple since this is my first year. I've thought of posibly doing Kaoru from Kenshin (not in Kimono but in her assistant master outifit), since it's really quite simple or even Chii of Chobits. The big problem with both kinda is my weight. I'm not 'fat' but I'm plump around the middle. Guess I should start on a diet plan eh? Anyway, I'll wrap this up. Wow! You're so pretty! I say you look more like Kaoru then Chii. If you feel like Dyeing/Butchering you're hair then I could probably find a character you could go as.
Have you played Final Fantasy 7? You could try cosplaying as Aerith. Her costume is really easy to make.

My hair isn't a big issue, I've done so much to it already, it takes a beating and keeps on going! My natural color isn't black it's really brown and I've gone blonde once. So please, suggest away, but if you will, please give me pics so I can see what you're talking about. They'll be a big help.
I'm not a big gamer so I haven't played any of the Final Fantasy games, plus we only have an X-box and I don't believe it's out for that console, but I could be wrong. Anywho, yeah, please suggest away! :D

I hate to be a bugger, but I was just surfin' around the forum since I only just joined it and all and I noticed that some people when as their own original characters last year. What does that mean? A character they made themselves and presented at the convention? If so I know one I could do fairly easy again as well. See my pic to the left? That's my own artwork by the way and my very own character I use for online RPG chatting (I chat at webrpg.com in the Keep). I would love to cosplay as my own infamous online character, even though she's not technically of Japanese orgins. I'm not certain on the rules and all so yeah, since you all seem to be a wealth of information to me so far, I'd thought I'd ask....

Oo! Read or Die characters. That'll fun to see. I just recently saw the OVA and greatly enjoyed it.
I believe the guy's name was Genjo. In the OVA they mentioned that he could use Hakkai's fire breath and Goku's staff, based upon the Saiyuki story. They didn't mention Gojyo's character though. *Shrugs*

Hey, that's not as bad as my step-father's jujitsu black belt convention he told me about a few decades back (he's old! lol) these 4th and 5th degree black belts were getting drunk and the running at each other with their katana's though the halls! THAT would have been interesting... hmmm.... maybe I should see if he could call some buddies up to give us a demo of that night! :D

And I see no problem going as an original character no one knows about. I think that would be pretty cool. You'd probably have to describe your character to some people. I went as Seta from Love Hina which turned out to be in the same situation. (A grand total of 4 knew my character.)

when they found one they had him trapped in an elevator all by him self so i went up staris and pressed the UP button and saved him

I've been noticing that too sometimes when I log in. Whenever I log in twice in one sitting (in between turning the computer on and off) I have to double check to make sure I'm logged in. My advice, check to make sure you have the "profile, private message, etc" menu up top instead of the "login in, register" one.

I'm currently working on my Ebisu (closet pervert senin) costume. BTW if anyone would be interested in helping me recreate the scene where ebisu is surrounded by a few hundred naruto clones all using sexy no jutso, that would be sweet.
AlsoI'm currently thinking about cosplaying as roy mustang of full metal alchemist.
I have cait sith and rufus shinra costumes that are partially compleate but have been placed on hold for an indefinate period of time.
I don't post on message boards often so I'm sure I've forgotten to log in or something else like that, please forgive my ignorance.

See, I knew I would do something stuiped, in this case posting twice (although now I've posted three times). But this last post doesn't count because... of um.... ZENO'S PARADIGM!!! (I knew studying philosophy would be usefull one day, specificaly today.) If your not familiar with Zeno's paradigm, you are unaware that it makes aproximatly no sense in this context but I'm fine with that.

I am seriously considering Yomiko Readman from ROD or Nausicaa, but others in my mind include : Boogiepop, Rose from Legend Of Dragoon ( not sure if with or without the wings) Aira from GLR, and even though I could easily make the armor for Iria...having that good of a body or getting my hair that shade of red might be ...tricky. :wink:

I've been thinking it over for awhile and I'm tempted to cosplay as a member of the Black Gema Gema Dan on one of the days as well. At least I could put my lab coat to use again (used it for "Seta" last year). And then I could wear my Kakashi costume on the other two days.

I haven't really decided who to go as. This will be my first cosplay and first con! I'm so excited!
I'm really thinking Ayame from Inu-yasha, but as a manga-purist, it doesn't sit well with me, so I might go for FFX Rikku or maybe Songtress Yuna.
But Ayame would be really fun, white wolf fur and pigtails! :wink:

So i've made a final decision on my costumes.... Aria From Green Legend Ran....Arumi from Magical Shopping Arcade.....Lucy from Elfen Lied....and possibly Ms. Paper from the ROD OVA I may cut one out because four in three days will be hard but I will deffinitly be doing Nyuu and Aria

Okay, I finally caved in and have decided to add "Black Gema Gema Dan" member to the list of cosplay for me. Part of the reason is it would be fun to try two costumes. Also, when am I going to find another character I could go as that's a cat-boy?
I'm still trying to decide which day to wear what. Kakashi is definitely my choice for Day 2. I just need to figure out if I want to start the con or end it as a Black Gema Gema member. Suggestions?
Now I just need to start planning on how to make cat ears. ^_^

Well, assuming I have the money to even go... *crosses fingers and hopes really hard that I get an internship this summer* I'll be going as Sango in her battle outfit from Inu Yasha, as well as Kotoko from Chobits again.
If I'm lucky enough to have enough money to make another costume, then I'll be going as adult Mya from Exodus: Faded Spirits (a RPG that's in the process of being made). I really, REALLY hope I can do that, 'cuz it sounds like we're going to have a whole group of Exodus cosplayers, so it'll be soooo much fun :D

lol yes I'm a guy. However, your not the first to make that mistake(and won't be the last, I think there may be still be a few people who still think I'm a girl irl). In rpgs, I often pick a female characters and then my mannerism(which ranges from neutral to somewhat feminine) makes people think I AM a girl. And I'm pretty certain that most of my online friends consider me a girl even if they know my rl gender as well O_o.

Nurse Witch Komugi? haven't heard of that series. I got the idea of looking for a JP name when a classmate of mine took one and actually put it down on his homework. He had a Korean first name I believe and I believe he was able to get it into kanji(I could be wrong).
Speaking of Korea, thats the only place I would like to visit more then Japan as South Korea is where my mother came from and I would like to see that part of my hertiage. Sadly, I dun remember how to speak Korean =(.

sounds like fun. my mother did try teaching me Korean again but didn't work out that well....her places does have lots of Korean ornaments and she did celabrated Tol, a Korean holiday that celabrates the first birthday of a child. I have pictures of the han bok(traditional Korean clothes) if you like to see them.

really? hmm....if you read earlier in the thread(near the beginning of me and neko's conversation of this thread of this morning), I mentioned that I tend to act like a girl a lot online. At least, I get confused for one a lot of the time and I'm pretty certain that my online friends just consider me another girl even though they know my irl gender.

well, they do start treating you differently afterwards. so far, even after they learn I'm a guy irl, they still treat me like another "girl". I suppose it makes sense with female character habit and sometimes I'll do overly girly acts/manners.
I remember one guy in FFXI who thought my mithra was a real girl because I was "too polite". And then there was the first RPG(a chat room one) and a girl said "I'm sorry, but you're one of the girls"....sometimes I dunno what to think of all that. Doesnt really stop me though as most of the time, I'm just acting my normal self......although now I have to wonder if my normal self is really a girl O_o

yeah I'm in some ways a lot like Piro. I even have his B4k4 ^ 2 t shirt(I pretty much almost always wear megatokyo/anime t shirts). However, I'm not the type to get mistaken for a girl unless its online. I think my dad find its rather disconcernign though....which I sometimes think he wants me to get a girlfriend(not that I"m not interested, I'm just not actively looking).

yeah that may be it. both are pretty conservative on behaviors and dress. LIke I said, I dun expect to get one soon. partly because I'm such a computer geek. Although its kinda funny in that most of my best friends online are girls...or at least act like them.

Nothing. you just dun meet a ton of people that way(for dating anyway). I spend most of my time on the computer(or the tv, game consoles, and then lastly the mall...shopping fun!! ^_^). I have met and befriend various people online, but its much more difficult to find a date unless you actively try.

Eh, I guess there's a fair amount of truth to that... I went 20 years without ever being asked out. Tho part of that probably had to do with the fact that I scared all the guys in my middle school and high school since I had a reputation for body checking them into walls when they managed to piss me off (which isn't easy to do).

LOL, that sounds funny. my problem is that I can be really passive/shy. I"m more outgoing(military help in that regard), but I can still be very passive at times.

I'll take that as a complement ^_-. I usually dun think much of it, as I'm often just acting my normal self. I just find it occasionally disconcerning that I'm sometimes more like a girl then a guy and people consider me as such O_o(mainly applies online though). Overall though, I dun worry about it too much, and just be who I am.

well online, its mainly because of I tend to choose female characters for an avatar in the RPG games I play and plus my mannerism(which ranges from neutral to cutely feminine) that makes people think I"m a girl. irl, there is no confusion of course though.. As for the cosplays, yeah I agree, one person from here thought I was girl irl life since I said I was going to cosplay Haku.
Side note, I won't be able to cosplay Yuki for sakura sadly. I just dun have the time =(. Maybe I'll try again for another con though.

For the most part, yaoi doesn't interest or does it scare me off(unless its the disurbing kind of course). But then on this one naruto forum, someone had a naruto sasuke yaoi banner that I thought it was really cute(and the naruto had fox ears, KAWAII!! ^_^). so far though....when I read fanfiction, I tend to avoid yaoi unless it had haku. I'm starting to wonder if I'm a haku yaoi fan O_o. although I think haku x zabusa is just wrong X_X!!
As for your yaoi party, I thought there may be some interesting artwork to see. That and yaoi fangirls tend to be very very hyperactive which I think is amusing/cute.

yeah...its partly cause I waited too long. the main issue was how I do his hair. I heard dyes aren't that pleasant, but its too late to get a wig(it wouldn't arrive in time). Clothes weren't seen as much as a problem(cept getting a pattern for them). At this point, the best I could do is one of his cloths(either school uniform or chinese outfit). but it a bit of a cram as I'm starting up school again this monday.

gosh this post takes me back , in high skool when i went to get a pop some one would steal my chair even when my freinds said it was mine, they'ed point them out them i'd pull the chair out from under them and shake it till they fell to the ground (and hai i is a girl (onna?)) i is more timid and nice and polite in person but i amn making more of an efort to be more out going and assertive like yesterday a guy interuped me and i said "you interupted me i was talking thats rude" and finshed talking then when ever he was talking i interupted him on princables

well I believe euro beat king took a couple thousand of pictures of sakura con for his cosplay.com site. two of them happen to be myself as well ^_^.
still trying to decide my next cosplay though....there is still yuki and that one catboy in consideration. Now I'm thinking of doing this one gay guy that looks like a woman in rurouni kenshin(I always seem into cosplaying the girly guys......thats becoming like a theme for me at this point).

I think hellsing is jsut somewhat rare. like a friend of mine likes to do alucard, but that is a difficult cosplay as I recall. and then teh series isn't hugely popular enough to create the fans to cosplay it.

This is going to be my first attempt at Cosplay (as long as I don't end up having to work that weekend ^.^; ), and I am going as Robin Sena (WHR), but not how you might think. I don't have a big budget, or much sewing talent, so it's going to be her "Harry's" look complete with drink tray and all that. I wanted something simple for me to put together, and creative too, so we'll see how that works.

well I'm more of a 'piro'(i.e. have female characters for online games) then a 'largo' so I dun think of her as a zombie.
BTW, I'm thinking of cosplaying Tenchi Masaki for an easy and comfortable cosplay.

the only thing slowing me down from being Li'l Slugger is the bat. i've gotta figure out how to twist then bend a metal baseball bat. the gold spraypaint is easy to find

You could (I've been thinking about this for weeks. xDD) go to a sports store, and I'm guessing they have machines that can straighten out the metal bats for repair. You could have them do the oppisate. Or get your local metal specialist to help.

odangos are a type of round food. sailor moon, with those sphere shaped blocks of hair she has are shaped like odangos so thats why she sometimes called that.

well actually, i'm not much of a sewer. so i didn't make the whole costume. ^^; i bought i pink dress and one of those puffy, white skirt things, and i added on to the dress and altered a few things. i am also handmaking the ears and the hair thingies. i don't know how to make full costumes yet. i'm hoping by next year i'll be able to handmake somthing. but even though i may not qualify for any cosplay awards, i still love walking around in costumes. it just wouldn't feel right if i didn't.

After much debate I have decided on L from deathnote. Man...it took me forever to come to a decision on that one. First I was gonna be sasuke....then yuffie...NOW L!! haha....i laugh at my own cosplay bi-polar-ness...I have the handcuff chains already it should be awesome. The only thing I'm missing is a Raito. I will be cosplaying Chrono from Chrono Crusade and if my friend from Texas is able to make it she says she'll dress up like Aion XD I don't have a Rosette or anything, but I'll be fine. I'll be cosplaying as him, wearing the outfit Rosette and Joshua found him in when they found him in the tomb. i love that costume!

It's the only cosplay I have planned so far, but I may choose to do another one depending on how quickly I get this costume done.

I'm planning on going as Anna from Shaman King, Allen Walker from D-Gray-Man *manga*, and hopefully Yachiru from Bleach. If not I was thinking of pulling off Nami from One Peice. I've got short hair, finally so this should make it easier.

Im gunna try and be Mizuna from No Surface Moon (...>>...<<...heh...) and my freinds want me to be risa for their DNAngel group. if all else fails Ill just go as Elizabeth the dream demon from Wild Arms like I did at Sakuracon.
