Title: Who want's to watch Ponyo?
Post by: Wuntvor on September 17, 2008, 09:39:59 pm
I've mentioned it in a few of the other threads, but figured I would start a thread about it to see who is interested.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (崖の上のポニョ, Gake no Ue no Ponyo?) is a 2008 animated film by the Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli, written and directed by famed anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. It is Miyazaki's ninth film for Ghibli. The plot centers on a goldfish named Ponyo who desperately wants to be a human. In pursuing her goal, she befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sōsuke.

Anyway, I have downloaded a screening of this film, and aquired the  English subtitles.  I was wondering if anyone wanted to come to Eugene and watch it at my place on Friday night (the 19th) starting at around 7:00pm.  I have anime at my place every Friday, but thought since this is a major film I would post this and see if I could get a few more people to attend.  It is totally free.  I WILL eat your snacks.  ;D

The viewing is on a 46" Samsung HDTV that I have connected to a Media Center computer.  I have a fiber-optic connection to my 7.1 surround system.  It's a Yamaha with 2 Main Speakers (Sony) a center channel (Boston) and 4 surrounds (Boston) as well as a subwoofer (SVS)  For the size of the room you won't realize you aren't at the theater.  If the TV was much bigger your eyes would have to move to see the whole thing from 8 ft away.

We will all sit far away from the TV in a well lit room, correct?   ;D

Anyways, reply if interested.  I will post directions to interested parties.
