Title: 2009 Recommendations for Board Elected Directors
Post by: staze on September 03, 2008, 10:08:33 pm
This thread is for tracking board elected position recommendations. Should the amendment to the bylaws pass at the elections meeting, some of these will become staff elected, and require formal nomination and seconding at the election meeting. For now, this is JUST for recommending individuals, and does not require any seconding. These recommendations are non-binding, and are purely so that people can bring others to the attention to the board to say "Hey, I think this person would be great in this job". And please, full, real, names.

However, if you find yourself on this list, and don't want to be, please PM me stating that you do not want the job, and I will remove you from the list. No sense in having the discussion up if you aren't interested. :-P

All listings are alphabetical by last name.

Thanks!

Are we still able to suggest names?  Because I realized afterwards that I wanted to suggest Michael Evans for Secretary

Do we need to accept these, or is it assumed?

As they are recomendations, they do not need a second, although you probably want to let the new board know if you are interested and state your qualifications.

You probably should let the board, or me, know if you are interested or not... if you aren't, I'll take you off the list. Not much point in being there if you aren't interested in the job.

He understands that she is interested.

Hence 'you're not not interested'.  Note the double negative ;)

There's a vote on this issue though. Could we get a little bit of info on Vice and Secretary at least so we don't have to run through the entire "accept/defer/decline" process at the elections should the proposition pass?

Tom,

We're working on it. Hopefully we'll have threads up for Secretary and VC by tomorrow evening.

In the mean time, you (anyone) can go to the Documents section of our website, and look at the bylaws, which states the PD (of sorts) for both the VP (VC) and Secretary.

This could have been done with the other positions as well but you two were kind enough to put position descriptions in those threads.

other positions? The bylaws don't really cover the managing directors... though it does cover the president (chair). Though, they really aren't PDs... they're just what is required by the bylaws for that position (and are very general), and are by no means all encompassing.
