Congrats to the winners. Also, me and my brother both voted for the Chu Chu Lovely song after struggling between that one and another. So, in essence, we are the reason it won. J/k. ^_^

I'm glad my AMV (Chobits - Just the Two of Us) made it in. ^_^; Didn't win, but hey, it was fun having it in. Also my first serious attempt at making an AMV where I finished it all the way through. I was so extremely nervous waiting for it come up, though. Seemed to get a few laughs and "awws" from the audience, so that was cool.  ;D

I seemed to notice a few lipsyncing issues that I don't recall on my laptop. :\ I had so many problems with different codecs causing the video to act differently that I kind of just through my arms up and said it was good enough, haha.

That's cool.  What did the winners get?  I'm sad I didn't get to actually watch the contest.  By the time we got there, it was already starting so we just decided to catch it next year or online.

Thank you for posting the entries.  I can't wait to see them.

Also, what was everyone's reaction during the ballot collection? ^_^

I loved that song, actually. I downloaded the video. I lol'd my ass off when at the, well, the surprise towards the end. ^_^;

Most of these titles tell me nothing. What songs and series are they to?
Title: Re: 2008 AMV Contest Final Playlist and Winners
Post by: Prinz Eugen on September 02, 2008, 07:15:58 am
To answer two questions:

1) Winners get a convention swag-bag and a DVD per category win. 'Who Needs a King' took 3 prizes and so that person won a 'Comic Party' box set.

2) I suppose I can go back and write some synopses on which anime and audio were used in these entries, as time permits.
Posting the playlist is mostly a relatively anonymous way of notifying the AMV creators themselves which of their entries got in.

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners!

Now, I have to start on the 2009 OP...

The contest this year was great, I really enjoyed the entries that were selected. :) I can't believe I got Best Action! I totally thought Headshot Time was going to win really. I still think it deserved it more, but I'm not complaining ;) Congratulations to all the winners and kudos to Who Needs A King. That was a huge crowd-pleaser.

If we weren't able to attend closing ceremonies, will the prizes be shipped to us? Or do we remain prizeless, as punishment for not attending? :P

To answer you guys, YES *all* category winners get prizes.
I will mail them to you. Each winner gets a convention swag-bag, a copy of the free, promotional part-manga, part-other-stuff thingie, and you also each get a random anime DVD.

I am contacting prize winners individually by e-mail or by forum board posts.

I also might be able to get a few of those links, also.
Some of these were sent to me by MegaUpload, so all I need to do is buzz through my e-mails and post them.

Congrats again to all winners and no, you don't get left hanging ...
A zillion thanks to you all - the audience really enjoyed your works!

I will be posting mine on A-M-V.org soon, so hold off on those MegaUpload links. I want to post a version of "Who Needs A King?" with my production bumper attached to it, so that I get credit for it, and no one tries to steal it and put it on YouTube and claim as their own. It's happened to me before. I will post a link here when I upload it.

Man, THAT has GOT to bite the eight-week-old bologna sandwich...
Some of my stuff ended up on YouTube (I do not/will not have an account there,) but people usually say 'Not made by me,' etc.

Yikes.

Anyways I looked through my e-mails and besides what I have, everything els that made the playlist seems to have arrived on disk by mail.
I do have some links to some of runner-ups, which I can post in a few days...

I tried looking up the Who Needs A King video and found half a dozen Be Prepared + Death Note videos :P

The polar opposite though, is a cold cruel, and lonely realm where nobody 'gets' your AMVs.
I've been there too.

If you find a good middle ground with the two, a movie and anime you wouldn't expect to see put together, you can come up with some pretty clever ideas. I really liked Fable, the Ever After trailer with Princess Tutu that played in the contest for that exact reason. It was pretty refreshing to be honest.

Actually, you don't necessarily need an account at amv.org.  The links should take you to the video information page.  From there you go down to the bottom where it says 'downloads' and click on local.  From the next page the download should automatically start.  :D

FYI: there may be a page that pops up in between that says something about a pledge drive, just scroll to the bottom and click proceed.

Uuummmm.....Yes you do need an account, if you try to download it asks you to login.

*checks* strange....I'm sure I've been able to download before without logging in...maybe I was doing direct... meh.

Well then, scratch that idea and register.

I'm glad my AMV (Chobits - Just the Two of Us) made it in. ^_^; Didn't win, but hey, it was fun having it in. Also my first serious attempt at making an AMV where I finished it all the way through. I was so extremely nervous waiting for it come up, though. Seemed to get a few laughs and "awws" from the audience, so that was cool.  ;D

You made this guy's heart warm by using early 80s music. Thank you! :D

Thanks! 80s music rules!  ;D ;D ;D  Also, it kind of seemed to fit the theme of the anime really well.

Also, to Guy: Sorry I never got to actually say hello to you!  Apparently my brother was able to track you down and get my tickets, so that was a relief.  I was also one of the 4-5 people you recruited to help set up the room for AMVs.  You were really busy and all over the place, so I didn't have time to introduce myself and say hello.  And then you were nowhere to be found after the AMVs were over!

Always next year, right?

So, can you guys link me to the "Piracy is Awesome" video that was played during closing ceremonies? I'm failing at my google-fu.

Edit:
O...NOW I find it!
