The final general meeting prior to the con will be held on Saturday, August 16 from 1pm-5pm at our hotel, the Doubletree Portland-Lloyd Center:

Like all general meetings, it is open to the public. General meetings are intended for potential and current staff and volunteers. There will be department reports and news updates, and breaking into groups where people can meet and plan, as well as two other notable events:

Swag bag-stuffing. Fill 4500 bags with the program book, pocket guide, and goodies!

Changes to the bylaws have been proposed and the amendment details are being discussed in this thread (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=7321.0). Changes to the bylaws require a 2/3 vote of the staff and a 2/3 vote of the board. We'll be voting on one or more proposed bylaws amendments at this meeting if any staff member makes a motion to vote on it.

Also, this meeting will be held in the Executive Meeting Center, part of the hotel that is usually kept locked up due to the fanciness of the place. If you have never been back there I suggest coming to the meeting early and taking a look around.

I haven't decided if I'm going to bother with any more tours.

I'll be there again...I actually managed to get the whole weekend off! XD *dances*

And I'm glad we'll be in the EMC, I wasn't ever able to watch your vids due to old computers (T_T), so I'm excited to finally see where the CS is going to be!

hi all,

I was wondering if there will be a jimbo training at the meeting on Saturday? Do you still need volunteers? I am bringing some to the meeting.

Will there be an official determination of the Artist Alley Artists and possibly a layout map? Booth Size maybe a quick look at the space. Do you still have Art Show spaces available?

I remeber you mentioning that after the last meeting that some one said there would be stuffing, more time would be good so i can send you a solid time to the volunteer e-mail list

Nope, we only have the room starting at 1:00. 

Though, as soon as I arrive I will be looking for staffers to help me carry the tons of stuff I'll be bringing for the bag stuffing.

Sweet, because I have pallets of stuff arriving.  I am goign to have to start looking into transportation help, too.

sadly I have work, I thought I had it off because i have sunday off and thought the meeting was on sunday, whew tho I am happy I have a job, and was able to get k-con off  ;D

That was anticlimactic.

The big vote DIDN'T HAPPEN and has been put off. The proposition has been "tabled" until the ELECTIONS on October 11th (or at least that weekend).

The regular stuff at the meeting went well.
Relations announced that this year the staff will have BAWLS....as in the energy drink.
Publicity talked about the con books and schedules and the newsletter that will be going out in the next two weeks before the convention.
Programming talked about some new things that I'm not going to spoil for them.
Registration mentioned that the con is probably going to get 4000 attendees, but we're going to have a daily cap of about 3800.


I announced that I got my printer working so that I can actually make DVDs of my youtube Videos, complete with printed discs and dvd case liners. I'll get pictures up soon. I just wanted to let people know that if they wanted copies of any of my youtube videos I would now be able to provide them. I dunno what I'll charge, probably just a small fee for shipping and handling. Since I have to handle all the parts to put them together.
These are pretty low tech but they work in normal dvd players and it's much higher quality footage than youtube.  ;)




The biggest announcement of the meeting has been CLASSIFIED.
DO NOT MAKE THE MODS EDIT IT OUT OF YOUR POSTS.
Seriously, I'm actually going to edit it out of my video record.

first meeting I've ever been too. had a BLAST. wasn't there in the beginning but then I showed up a bit later.

sorry for being tOo loud tom. we were just having a bit too much fun in out little doorway. hee hee :3

As Tom mentioned, the meeting was rather anti-climatic.  Overall it went well enough though, I think.

I think it went over well. I didn't actually "meet" you new yojimbo folks, but that can always happen at the meeting before con.
