Hey I have this great idea! I think it would be hilarious to show up at the double tree three weeks early and be like "WE'RE HERE FOR THE CON!" but we would need a big group.....anyone interested?

heh, it's an idea......I just wouldn't want to do anything to leave a sour taste in the mouth of those who work the hotel, you know, any reason to think poorly of Kumoricon or the people who attend and thus prevent the con from returning in the future. Maybe I'm being too cautious though. *shrug*

I think it would be hilarious as long you guys didn't overstay your welcome and cause problems.
The hotel staff are used to all sorts of weird people coming in and asking questions.
You could then walk over to the mall for lunch and practice ice skating in costume! It'd be a good promotion for the con. We could give out fliers. >_>

I was thinking about just showing up asking them and then after a short look around the area (to get familiar with the way the hotel is set up) then leave to Lloyd.
So if everyone is ok with that then I can think about a date.....anyone have one in mind. The weekend would be best.

Unfortunately I don't find out my work schedule till Thursday. So I'll know then if I am going to be working next Saturday/Friday.

It will be a weekend, even if it is a week day it will be in August so will you have school then? Most people don't have school till after the con.

I know, I just started today. My school behaves as a year round, same number of off days, different spacing, so we get longer breaks in winter and spring, a mini-break in fall, and a shorter summer break. It's fabulous, but I wish more schools operated like it so I wouldn't be alone.

Well first you take a pair of scissors.... and then you take a picture and look in the mirror... then after you've attacked your hair you go and get some dye.... Yeah? That's the best I can give. XD And it's about being ready in time for the meet so it should be okay.

You could go to a party city or something and buy a wig just for this, it wouldn't have to be perfect amazing, just enough to work.

So we are meeting at the max station, but WHICH ONE. If I can drive, then this will be lovely as all heckadoodle.

the max is like directly in front of the hotel, its realy easy. but thats not the point, tamari is right.we cant have them getting a see before we do it heh heh, so i take it tom is giving the guide ^_^ go tom he heh, and the food court sounds super perfect. i love me some eats heh heh. aaaaannnnnndddd, theres an in the groove machine at the tilt. and all sorts of fighter games.
i realy realy hope they dont get mad at the con... that would be trubling yeah. he who thinks i should go as wakkas brother from FF10, i have the brother hood sword and i like to say yeah at te end of my sentances.

I've gone in and talked to the people at this hotel a lot so as long as the group sticks with me we shouldn't get anyone in trouble. I just hope there isn't some weird event going on that weekend, I want to be able to show you guys the different rooms. We can only peek in the rooms when they're empty. :(

I will try and make some photocopies to bring with.
One of the things I want to do is get some pictures of cosplayers on the stairs, I don't know if I would have time to coordinate that sort of thing during the convention. One of the emergency stairwells looks across at the parking garage so you can stand on one and take pictures of the other. I want to get cosplayers on each floor of the stairwell (on the little outdoor platform) and take some pictures from the garage.
Plus there's all sorts of cool things you can do with platforms like this.

I live practically in Oregon city, so I really don't know. My older sister said one on 82nd but I didn't see a stop that said 82nd. DX I can ask my dad where he usually takes us when we take the max when he gets home. : /

ouch... I take the max from the Hillsboro airport... its kinda a drive and the majority of the times I've taken the max into town (like 4 times) the lights were out and it took FOREVER!

I've been on the max what... 3 times in my life? XD The only time I remember well was at Kumoricon Lite, going to saint Cupcake.

Mmmm Max Stations. Don't worry, they confuse the hell out of me, too. I usually take a little Portland kid with me when I take the Max, cause Steven attends the Art Institute, so he knows where everything is. I just sit there and space out. ~ ~

dont wrry urahara knows his way around the world ^_^ and is hear to help. ok girl who lives in oregon city, get to the oregon city transit, take the 33 to portland, get off at the max, just ask the driver he'll help you, take the blue line to loyd center and there you go. ive been riding buses and maxes since i was 10, so if anyone AT ALL needs directions i can give you a detailed bus system on what to do,

Yeah ice skating is pretty easy. You just have to balance, and relax, that's another thing. If you're tense, then it's harder to move, and easier to fall.

Well I can Ice Skate but I'm not too quick and if I haven't gone in a while it takes a minute to remember. I can spin in *almost whole* circles and go backwards in a fancy kinda way though. lol

Well at the picnic my mom was on the far side of the fountain and parked and I couldn't for the life of me see people in cosplay. Then I saw Al and I knew where to go... Maybe im just stupid though :D

Haha we were kind of far away, too. About a 10 minute walk.
We thought everyone was clear on the other side of the park, but I kept insisting that we were suppose to meet near the Hawthorne Bridge. So we walked for a few minutes, and then saw everyone.

THE PARK IS RIGHT INFRONT OF THE HOTEL (a few feet). NEXT TO LLOYD/MAX STATIONS.
I've been to Lloyd too many times to know this XD

See I have this big pile of money that I have to give the hotel in exchange for the poolside suite from Thursday to Tuesday. I know it will be worth it but it still hurts when I can do cool stuff like see movies anymore.

Yeah, cosplay isn't required, just encouraged for those who want to do it. I probably will have to bring my costume in a bag and change once I get to Lloyd Center, because I really don't want to spend 45 minutes on the max by myself in cosplay, lol. It would just be too attention-drawing, lol. I'd be ghost-white or beet-red by the time you all saw me, haha.

Good luck with that. I haven't seen the hotel yet, so I'm eager to check it out and learn the layout of the place. No con disorientation this year! (That was what was really cool about Mini-Con last year, actually, it allowed one to explore the hotel before the actual con. Good stuff.)

Don't let it scare you off; there are lots of people but not to the point of anything being chaotic or bothersome. Staff do an excellent job of keeping hallways clear and keeping traffic flowing. As long as you yourself don't frequently stop and stand right in the middle of hallways, you won't see any problems, I'm sure. It's just like the roads, as long as you know how to act on the roads, you'll never get hassled, lol.
But really, the con is amazing, and if you go out with the mindset to have a blast and enjoy it, it'll be good to you. ^_^

I just about died of having a good time at the last K-con lol it was my first con and I had never even seen cosplayers before except in pictures all I could do was go O.O ..... :O......:D.......o.o...

Sakuracon was much worse than Kumoricon because there were like 14,000 people instead of 3,000. So I don't think there will be a problem

About being in public in cosplay. It's not so bad if you're in a group, but if you're all by yourself it's different.
Especially if the cosplay is really eccentric. Last year when I was Kadaj I waited until I was inside a hotel room before I changed. ~ ~
And of all hotel rooms, I ended up in Eve's. XD

I know the feeling. Albel is very exposing costume and it stands out a lot. Where some of the Naruto costumes are almost normal and you could blend in. I am going to wear Albel to this meet up but I'm not sure about the one on Thursday. Still don't know if I want to do Temari or Albel.....any suggestions?

Alright I looked up the cost for Ice skating and it is $6 to get into the rink and if you don't have skates its an extra $3 so all together it is going to cost $9 per person. There was something else I saw that might be fun for the ice skating during the con, you can rent out the rink for like $200 something per hour

That would be pretty epic to rent out the entire rink, but yeah, it would probably take quite a haul of people pitching in to make it reasonable for everyone. I'd like to do that some time though. I think most of us are going to be taking public transportation if we go anywhere anyway. Since parking's not free, and most of us that have cars will have either already paid for parking, or don't want to pay if we parked at the Llyod Center.

If you park at Lloyd Center, remember that they start closing things up around 6. I suggest you try and park on the streets around the hotel since the parking meters are free on Sundays. If you're driving that is.

I don't think you have much to worry about. People were talking about sticking around downtown doing stuff until 5:00pm or so. So, you leaving for downtown at 11:00 should be no problem at all.

But the thing with my phone is that you have to call me, because the numbers transfer over to the phone I'm using (temperoraily) And I can't make outgoing calls that are people that are not on the contact list. etc.etc.

Ok so wrapping my chest didn't go so well.....I was going to have devin help me. So I am just going to wear three sports bras. I wont be as flat as I want but still much flatter than with one.

I have a *bit* of a problem. My dad Doesn't want me to get my sword to get stolen. (If I wear it i will have to take it off to iceskate)
I was wondering if either I should just leave it home (I like how it pulls together the costume so I don't want to) OR if someone has a car I can put it in to iceskate?
Which do you think I could do? (or does the iceskating rink have lockers?)

Haha yeah it was kind of a last minute thing. I asked Nichole if she wanted to go, so we went, and after Wall E we were pretty much dead. And we still had the Dark Knight to go, which started around 11:30.

We're young, spunky, and full of energy? I'm not sure how we did it, either. But that's my fourth time at the Drive In. Which is sad, since I live in Newberg, and the Drive In's in Newberg.

I like that plan, but I agree, it should be after the con, cause I think this month is about as filled as it could get.
I'd mos def be down for it though. ^_^ I always loved the drive-in, more than the theater in most cases.

My favorite part about the zoo was always the jeep, the penguins (funny story about those when my sister worked there) and the birdies! I love it whenever I go because I hardly ever go. I always get lost too. ._.
