My questions is- why? They have a great thing going with the anime....why spend the time trying to adapt it to RL? I love series a great deal and the music.....
I don't have much faith that it will cross over well. :P
-
I still watch it even if it's bad. I think it will be really good, or really bad but still very funny.
-
oh I hope they don't screw it up either. I love this series so much. and I seem to be the only one of my friends that knows it or likes it.
-
Jeez, there's a lot of live action movies going on lately.
Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite Anime's, so I'll be optimistic for the new movie.
-
as it is in the mythiucal "in development" i wont start holding my breath as with the eveon gelion movie nor the metroid movie
-
Oh, if they don't mess this up, I'm looking way forward to it!
-
OMG RLY?!?!?!?!
I'd watch it. Please, please, PLEASE don't mess it up!
-
Im expecting good things

I'm not really a fan of live action stuff made from an anime..I can't be the only one can I? <.<
-
Actually, there is a live-action Cowboy Bebop-esque available. You just trade in your jazz for wild frontier. (For those who can't guess....Firefly. Too bad that sunk so soon, then again if it hadn't, it may have died the same painful, stupid, twisted death like the rest of Joss Weiden's work like Angel...)
-
That's pretty cool. I wonder if it'll havethose three crazy old guys in it.
I sure hope so.
-
I hope they don't replace Spike with some strong, bulky and muscular dude. THAT would be bad. :P

You're not - I am with you through thick & thin on this issue. Mostly because it's a creativity cop-out. They can't make something original that's entertaining, so they have to 'cover' a cartoon or anime that other people made successully. Hated the Popeye and Flintstones movies, recoiled in horror when I heard some gang was making a Josey & the Pussycats LA. I also don't like Japanes made LAs from anime. Example: Gokusen LA.
Just my opinion...

Until I see a teaser, hell even some stills, nuts to this.
-
Ah geez, when will people learn... live-action anime/video games NEVER work out. Who saw "Street Fighter"? No one? Exactly.
-
Screw you nay sayers, I loved the Cutie Honey Live Movie and the Sailor Moon Live Action.
They were both awesome.
They also had pretty girls. Hmmm.....

As far as anime go, Cowboy Bebop's not a bad one to adapt. The art style's fairly realistic (no huge eyes or extremely exaggerated body proportions...unless you count Faye), it stays away from a lot of the gags like giant sweat drops, and the story-telling style is more laid back and subtle than with other anime. The series has always had more of a live-action feel to it, at least that's how I've always felt; it's not a fantasy series, and while it is sci fi (western), it's on the believable side. None of the technological developments feel too far out there for the distance they're set into the future.
With as advanced as CG is now, they'd have no problem pulling off--convincingly--any of the aerial stunts the ships perform. The rest of the action in the series is on a pretty realistic human scale. So it's just a matter of good casting. I'd still like to see Spike as a tall, lanky guy, and Jet had better keep his bald head (I find it one of his more endearing qualities, and there just aren't enough bald guys in movies who are cool as Jet). The one who I can see being hardest to cast is Ed, though. You'd have to find a young teenage girl who's talented enough to pull off that level of randomness.
Assuming this doesn't fall by the wayside...I'd definitely love to see it.
(Western-made adaptation of an anime that I loved: Speed Racer. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in ages.)
-
I'm really interested to see it, but I'm not going to believe it until I see it.
The same goes for the sailor moon myth that's been going around since FOREVER.
lol

I own street fighter.

I just hope that they find people who look somewhat like the characters, and by that, I mainly mean Faye. Not to sound like a perv, but when I've seen some Live Action movies based off of anime, the character known for her bust isn't so busty. Cutey Honey, for example; I wasn't that impressed with her bust size, she didn't seem like a believable Honey to me. They had better find a woman with a good enough pair to make her a believable Faye.
-
Any suggestions from the audience on casting? And as far as finding someone busty enough to play Faye...I don't really see that being a problem in Hollywood. ^^'
Hmm...I suck at this game.
Jessica Alba as Faye, maybe? She's been in a few comic book movies, so she obviously doesn't have issues with the genre, and she's got a great body. Plus, she strikes me as someone who could pull off Faye's personality. That's the most important thing. You can always enhance boobs if the role calls for it.
Any other casting suggestions?

I'm not really sure who could do them justice...
but I sure hope spike is accurate <3
::swoon::
-
I can imagine a few English actors that could play Spike but I think they'll be too old at this point.
-
Mind naming a few? :)
-
John Cusack comes to mind for Spike, I'm not sure why, although he is probably a bit too old for the role. And I am leaning towards Ving Rhames for the role of Jet Black; I just really like the actor and would love to see him do it, haha.
