Post by: spindrift76 on September 12, 2004, 08:56:34 pm
Has any one notice the time stamps are all wrong with the site?

I noticed that too, in fact it is 12:53am Sept 14th but I hit preview and it stamped it "Posted: Tue Sep 14, 2004 4:21 pm     "

only slightly annoying, I just look to see what sections were edited tomorrow and read them first LOL.

I think it has to do with the time zone thing, I think the BB is set for Japan as the Time Zone (I think we are -8 (-7 offset for Daylight saveings) while Guam of all places is +10, and Tokyo is +9 and they don't observer daylight saves so they don't get a offset)
Odd things you can find on the internet and Looking at the Bottom of the screen

Well, if it was just the hour that was off, timezones would be the answer, but the server time is just plain wrong.... I complained about this about 6 months ago but nothing has been done yet....

That's because the time on the actual server is messed up, and we don't have access to that.  Hopefully we'll be transitioning things soon so that everything is working properly, and that'll include a site re-design.

doesn't nuke have a setting to compensate for time differences w/the server? most portals do. I know mine does ... somewhere.. I just have been too lazy to look for it hehe. I could ask my php guru friend (boy are those nice to have), maybe he'd know...

We're so close to nuking nuke, I think they haven't been putting much thought into it.  And switching to a host that knows what time it is... :)

Haha, that's understandable. Is your host IN the same time zone though? I know mine is actually in the UK, so that's where the problem lies. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me w/nuke much. Portal dev is a lot of work (I tried to help EZ Boxx w/their's for a while, even got offered a paid position, but school has been too demanding *sigh*). My buddies that do use nuke are all very good with PHP. I plan on switching to PHP myself eventually since ASP kinda SUX (cept .NET), hehe. I hate being limited to Windows servers...

I know that the time is off for me...it is so definitely not like 4:00am here.  but I don't know what's wrong. My server is *supposedly* in the united states...somewhere.
