I am planning on coplayin goury soon, but I need some ideas for making armor, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions or suggestions of who to talk to. I also would like suggestions on how to make a sword of light. The clothes themselves should be pretty basic, but it should be fairly challenging to get the sword and armor to look right.

Foam! Yatta! Oi, Hero.....are you going to the Japanese festival at Uwajimayas on the 18th?
-
I don't think so. I'm working that weekend, and have some other things I ussually do on my weekends too.

Pfft. You're no fun...I almost never get to hang out with you anymore....

foam with aluminm on top then sray paint would be my guess
just leave the sword in the sabard

what we used to do for making armor is take strips of carpet foam, duct tape them (they come if whatever color you want these days, you just have to look) individualy first and then overlap them. It makes real good looking metal armor and samurai pending on how much detail you put into it, but that would be my best suggestion.
Or you could do what fighter did this year and use cardboard.

Use Polythylene foam. You can get it at any big hardware store, like Home depot etc.
Make it out of that, then coat it in fiberglass to make it hard. Youll need to first put on some fiberglass cloth or papermache over the foam of else the fiberglass will eat through your foam.

I did the metal casting panel, and I'd be happy to work with you to help CAST a hilt & pommel in aluminum. If you're not going to draw the weapon, then you can include a short tab at the hilt where the blade would be, and permanently affix the scabbard there.
Fabric or foam should work fine for Goury's armor, because he doesn't have any weird spikey things or gems embedded in the plates.

Sounds like a good Idea, but I was thinking of using a flashlight as the base for the sword. Making a making a crosspiece that fit over the end and a pommel that fit over the base, and wrapping the rest. Metal casting should work well for the crosspiece and the pommel though. Fixxing it to the flashlight might be a problem though. hmm Ideas Ideas. I was thinking of having a tab that came out of the end of the scabard and fit into the hilt so I could wear it on my hip.
I guess foam would work for the armor, but I'd preffer something more realistic. Even if it means getting some sheet metal and screwing it up several times. Any other Ideas?

Have you considered soldering?
...mind you I'm drawing ideas from my old survey shop class here... >_<; But hey, we made flashlights WITH solder... it might work...
Your idea sounds really cool. :) Particularly for the sword. Is it going to be light-up?

I don't plan on having a blade but the flashlight will be working yes. and soldering might work It might also be a little week of a join.
