i didn't see one for 0'8 so i decided to post one.
i think i might go as Namine for a day because i have a wig from Misa Amane that is kinda like her hair and her dress design is pretty simple.

Sundays are generally the more popular photoshoot days, I know last year we did it on Sunday and we got a good turnout.
But also, a lot of people do more than one costume, so I wouldnt vote out a different day just yet. Not knowing who else will plan a photoshoot for sunday, or who'll have a different costume sunday and stuff. Like, I have 2 cosplays this year, Im really excited to wear, but sundays the biggest cosplay day, so Im torn as to which to wear that day.
But also! Think of it this way! The earlier during the con weekend the photoshoot is, the more time you have to hang out with the people you meet there! :D
Last year a bunch of us headed to the starbucks across the street after the photoshoot, and we ended up hanging out the rest of the weekend!

Yeah, more people will be there Sunday, but a lot of events happen then, too. Cuz it's the biggest day. : P

Last year I had two on the same day, one right after the other. I just had to quick change. XD

So..do we want to choose a non busy day? Since were trying to decide early, I know we could probably pick whatever say we want, but a lot of groups are always pretty insistent on Sunday, or the second day of a con. So, if we do pick sunday, theres probably a much higher chance of it clashing with another photoshoot than if it were on Saturday.
Also, if any of your other costumes are really hard to get out of, like armor, or face makeup etc, then you want to take that into consideration too, because chances are a quick change wont be possible, and if 2 of your photoshoots are schedualed on the same day, you'll most likely have to miss one.

Going to the starbucks was amazing >w< My favorite part was when sora randomly needed a costume fix and larxene ended up doing it XDD
well. You also have to think that alot of people drive up on the first day. last year, where i live we left at about 7 in the morning and didnt get there untill noon or 1 PM
Then, alot of people leave earlier on the third day.
I definately veto doing it the third day. from what i saw last year the least number of people attending was on the third day.
So i guess later in the afternoon on the first day or sometime during the second. thats my vote

XD that was so embarassing! The old people at the other table across from us kept giving us weird looks!
But yeah, I agree, if its Saturday, definately want it later on in the day. Because you also have like the welcoming ceremony and stuff that day, and last year it was like 9 or 10 am, so if we do it at like, 1 or 2 in the afternoon, I think it'd be good. But of course, we have to wait until its closer to the con and we can look at the con scheduale to make sure we dont choose a time thatll clash with any 'must do' events.

Like last year, we found this statue of a little girl and this guy, and so we made the little girl hold a keyblade and the guy hold..either a struggle bat or another keyblade, I cant remember..anyways yeah XP crazy things..

I know a few people did XD but my camera got messed up after I tripped at the photoshoot, so I didnt get a picture...I do have a bunch of the photoshoot that I got from other people though

Anywho, agreed about Saturday afternoon. I'd almost say even later, like 3, but again, we gotta wait. Don't wait for the schedule, though, cuz that comes out WAY late. We should chose a day and time officially, but tell peeps it might change when the schedule comes out. : P

I'm hoenstly not sure what (or if I am) cosplay for KH I'm doing for KumoriCon yet. :\ I'm cosplaying Marluxia at SakuraCon, though. Maybe I'll bring it over to K-con. Who knows.
I just know I plan on making a badass scythe.

Hey All! I was Kairi at K-Con '07, if any of you saw, I was the one in the dating game. I also ran around with my boyfriend, Pyramid Head (the one with the ridiculously huge sword, he swung it around at the dance.) I'm goin as Roxas this year, and I'm looking for an Axel, Sora, or possibly Riku for a yaoi skit. Or just yaoi pictures. I'm not creepy, I promise, I just want some cutesy photographs and new friends that share my love for KH yaoi! :D

I know you can style a punky wig, and theyre generally easy to find, so you'd have a better chance to find a cheaper one...other than that, theres always ebay XP

I hear yah. It can get kinda frustrating trying to figure out who is a girl and who is a guy. But Axel is axle and Zexion is zexion. Wether its a girl or guy cosplayer, the character is still appreciated.
I just worry about offending people and calling them guy's when they are girl's and visa versa

Black~Rose: I just call people by the name and gender of whoever they're cosplaying and hope they respond. XD
VampireFangs103: As for wig styling, there are several useful tutorials on the Amphigory.com forums. Not necessarily for styling Axel hair specifically, but for spiky hair in general. You should be able to get some good tips from there. ^^ They also have several punk wigs that you could buy, and for pretty cheap. Hope that helps. ^^

Amphigory even has a wig that's called "Spiked - Cheaper" and it has cheaper wig fiber, and less body, but on a budget it will work :) You could also use Cosplay.com for Roxas or Sora tutorials and adapt it to Axel. Cuz basically, you just need the right styling tools and a basic idea of how to style spikes and you should be good to go! :DD
Also, Axel is love. Axel needs moar love :P

no sadly, iwasnt, i was cheep too, iwas a blue silk geisha the first day, and random backround characters the next two :D one day i had a purple wig and another day i had a deathnote and looked like a female "L"

Ohh. Well I didn't cosplay at all. I just wore the headband all three days. But obviously this year I'm cosplaying. (I'm doing my sisters chores for $1.50 each. XD) I decided it will be mid may when I get all the money for my costume.

I think you should definitely do the Dancer, cuz it'll be amazing. You could do both Dancer and Sora. ^^ I wouldn't do Roxas, just cuz you're other two cosplays are so much more awesome. XD

Yeah, there were random people.... but it was all good. There were these dumb skaters and in the end they were all like your mom and someone was like, your not an otaku, and hey were all YOUR an otaku.... it was stupid and we were like yeah we are.... lol, like like like... XD

So in case any of you didnt see the thread, My Cosplay group, Moochobo Productions is looking for KH people! We have a Sora, Riku, Hayner, Roxas and Seifer, but we need Organization members for some of the bigger skits were planning.
The website is in my signature if you just wanna take a look XP not much is up yet and freewebs is sucky withthe layouts but you can get a good idea from it
Also just take a look!We have some awesome skits planned and with any luck will start filming spring break or early summer.
Oh, yeah and we do slash skits, so like..AkuRoku, RiSo and Seifner.

So I'm debating with my mother (the sewer of the family, as all my sewing looks like a ferrett on crack got a hold of the machine) about putting together an Org 13 costume...
But I'm in a bit of a quandry as to who actually to go as, seeing as how it's the wigs and props that really seperate them.
So...who all do we need/want to see? Or if any group needs a specific x member for something, I'm a former actress and up for anything (first con and first cosplay so I might as well dive in, right?).
I'm 5'2", which is why I was originally leaning towards Roxas, but there are a lot of Roxas' out there, and since I'm not really set on anything, I thought I'd toss it out to the group, any ideas?
(I'm highly tempte to try Lexaeus or Vexen, just for the sheer fact there un-loved...or Zexion, just so I don't have to buy a wig, just hair dye)

Personally, I love Zexion and would love to see one there, cause I might be forgetting about something but I haven't seen anyone say they'll go as him... that's just my opinion.

I agree as go with Zexy. He doesn't get enough love, and he is just so damn kyute!!

Zexion would be easier to pull off prop wise (easier/cheaper to make a book then a giant sheild/tomahawk (ms), not to mention he's the youngest (next to Roxas), which means less make-up...

Yeah... I think Vexen and Lexaeus are most forgotten... but one time I was listing all 13 with my friend, and I remembered everyone but Vexen... he's so... forgettable.... XD But as long as there is at least one Zexion that I can hug or something, I'm all good!

It is actually. XD I remember when he first showed up I thought he was Larxene or something cause he sounded like a girl! XD But then it said he was Demyx... kinda made sense. lol

I remember falling off my chair laughing when he ran past the trinity in the Underworld yelling 'Run, Run away!" I knew in that moment I would love the character forever (even if he did hand me my rear end in under 40 seconds multiple times).
Yeah... I think Vexen and Lexaeus are most forgotten... but one time I was listing all 13 with my friend, and I remembered everyone but Vexen... he's so... forgettable....
It's not so much that he's forgettable...as just...not there. Yes, he's in Chain of Memories, but you'd have to actually played (and beaten that game) to remember him (which some fans...don't). Not to mention he's...well, older. He gets pushed to the side by some of the fandom and thus, he slips our mind in favor of characters that are more in your face.
S'Why I was hoping to portray either Vexen or Lexaeus if I can pull off they're weapons, because it sucks that such intresting characters did sort of get lost in the shuffle. Eh...maybe that's my love of the original six showing through (*is science geek*).
And don't mention hugging! I'm trying to work on my insane urge to hug every KH character I come across.

The orginal six need all the love they can get. Without them, no Kingdom Hearts after all! *grins* And I can see why they did what they did, the emotional heart (or just heart in KH terms) is a fascinating field of study. What makes us feel certain things, what benefit are these emotions, what harm? Why can some people simply...not feel an emotion. Why did humans develop emotion? Was it an evolutionary point, to better our survival or a fluke of the brain?
I've finally decided if they host skits at Kcon, I'm doing Ienzo losing his heart. I've always wanted to explore that and am too lazy to write out a whole story so this way, I get what I want and a fun time (okay, dramatic time, I can't make heart loss funny).
...too bad no one's going as a heartless, I could so use them.

But, I know there will be nobodies at Kcon, myself being a dancer and then a friend of ours is serously considering a heartless cosplay.
Heartless invasion would be awesome...and I am totally practicing my nobody sway and eerie silence..ness.

Also, someone suggested this in the Sakuracon forums, but I think we should do it a K-con as well.... A Kingdom Hearts pajama party!! We could all meet up (preferably in the evening, but w/e works for most people is fine by me) in pajama versions of our KH characters. :D

Kay, so, me, Hashi, and our group of friends have two KH groups roughly put together:
1st Group: Dancer, Deep Dive Riku, Demyx, Stree-style Xigbar, possibly Zexion, Axel...
2nd Group: Roxas, Hayner, Seifer, possibly Demyx and Axel (again)...
Hashi may know more people in our group and/or who is and isn't doing it for sure. But that's the main people I know of. So we'll be KH for two days, not sure which group for which day etc etc, but yeah. Just so ya'll get the basic idea. ^^

Weve written a bunch to be filmed but were having a bit of a problem narrowing a plot down to a 3 minute stage skit haha

That's already been done, though. And it was awesome, too. XD And I personally am one of those people who don't consider dances skits (is just my opinion : P). So, yes, dancing is an option, but what would you like to see in an acting skit as opposed to a dancing one? ^^

Yeah, I spent like 4 hours one night on google maps looking at the area from street veiw XP go random insomnia..but it seems like A) the park is gonna rock for a KH photoshoot, and B) We have a lot of options,theres a quiznos right across the street from the park, and then the lloyd center. So yeah definately not limited if we wanna hang after the shoot.XP
and as for regardless of planning, yeah, haha i know. I just love planning things, even if they dont require planning!
Maybe ill actually bring my Kh photoshoot sign this year..last year it got bent so i didnt bring it, and now i regret it lol its got the kingdom hearts heart on one side and "Its Yaoi time!" on the other!

Hashi, I went to Sakuracon this year, and I've decided that Kumoricon pwns on Sakuracon. Sure, S-con is bigger and has a "better" location, but the atmosphere of the con is nowhere near as awesome as Kumoricon. Plus, it rained/snowed the whole time and it was super cold! All in all, I say Kumoricon wins on cool factor.
Plus the KH cosplayers seemed to be more friendly (cept the Axel I met; she rocked!) at K-Con =) I'm excited to meet you all! =D

-nods- Kcon was my first con last year, and i couldnt have wished for a better first con experience. everyone i met was so nice (the KH cossers especially XD ) and it was just the perfect size. Sakuracon is a lot larger, but i highly doubt it could ever be better than Kcon in my book, haha. But i still wanna go sometime.

That's fine. We can move the shoot to Sunday if that works better for everyone. Sunday is just always a big cosplay day cuz it's the biggest day of the con period. That means there's more shoots to schedule around (for people who do lots of them) and big events like the cosplay contest later in the day. That's why we suggested Saturday. But if Sunday works better, we can move it, no prob!
Also, I'd like to say that I'm glad you're being Vexen, cuz he needs more love! X3

yeah, Saturday was a temporary day that we chose for the shoot, because, it seemed like it would be the easiest to work around peoples scheduales. But, as we get closer to the coonvention, and more shoots come up and activities and stuff, we'll choose an offical time and date. So, right now saturday is just like a placeholder date, but chances are, it'll moved if we have a lot of people wanting it on sunday, or if sunday just seems like a better day for the shoot.

I just got back from Sakura-con '08 this week, and I'm happy to say things were AWESOME as hell. I went as KH2 Riku (my mother worked hella hard on that costume, I'm so happy with it!) and as Zexion (*dances around with book singin' Sexy Back*).
=3 So, you've probably got yourself another KH2 Riku, right here! *raises hand* And likely another Zexion, as well. Depends on what my real hair decides to do... I'll check back on the forums here as it gets closer to summer... and by then I'll have a list of my room mates. I'm expecting my Demyx to go again. But for now, I leave you all with this picture from Sakura-con. That Riku's me, and, there's a chance I get that antiSora to come down to Kumori-con for you guys. xD She said the costume would be blazing hot though, but that won't stop her from coming, just might stop her from dressing up as antiSora (awww... dang).

They are made only of insulation foam. I hot knife carved the basic chakrams out, then used an Xacto knife to carve out the fine details such as the curves and bevels, then sanded them all down and painted.

I'm going as Demyx (not SNJ version, thank god, my heels killed my feet), but since I won't have a giant Colasicone of d00m (His weapon =/= sitar KTHXBAI, sitar = eight strings and played over the shoulder) I'll probably just find my Demyx necklace and wear that on the outside of my cloak. Unless, of course, I can convince my dad to let me get a couple things of insulation foam and help me make one over the summer.

Compression shirts aren't that expensive. Girls naturally have a smaller frame then most boys, and the shirt I bought was for men with.. moobs, basically.
The bigger you are, the more expensive the shirts get. The ones that were bought most were all sizes L, XL XXL, XXXL, etc. that all ran for 100+.
I bought an XS, which fit my bust (I'm a C cup.) for 20 something, and including shipping it was 27.00$, so it's nice being a girl sometimes. XD

I've heard some things about Underworks. If you have anything bigger then a C, then the shirts from Underworks only help out a little. There was a girl on C.c who posted her results, and she was either a C or D cup, and the shirt only mashed her breasts to look like a uniboob. :O

T_T Compression shirts don't work on me... My boobs are too big. I bound for Neji at Sakuracon, and it didn't even get me completely flat. Never mind, of course, the impossibility to breathe, the nearly-broken ribs and the general cursing every time a bandage came undone. but hell, my Org coat makes me look mannish anyhow! I need to fix one part of a sleeve that I re-sewed funny, but other than that minimal binding should be okay!

There is a Marluxia in my group, but I don't know if she's going to Kumori con. If she does though, she's probably going to cosplay as him, since that's the only cosplay she has.
I'm also thinking I might not actually be Axel this year, sadly. My Roxas is thinking she's probably not going to feel up to cosplaying because of her surgery, and I'm not sure if I want to be a Roxasless Axel. ;_;
I might still be Demyx though, because I can probably convince my Zexion to be there. Who knows. I'm not that great of a Demyx either, though. I'm a much better Axel, so I lose some motivation there.

Ok. It's official. So here's the story of my life *clears throat* I was origionally going to K-con as L this year, with Raito handcuffed to me all weekend. However, once we realized that this year's DN cosplay is last year's Naruto (in other words, nearly EVERYONE is going from DN) we decided to change out outfits. So I will officially be going as Axel! Yay! *parties* And she will either be going as Reno from Final Fantasy VII or Roxas.

Whenever we want it. I think it should be one of the first two days, though. At the moment it's set to Saturday, but we can easily change it to Sunday if that works better for everyone.

First day. The con is Sat, Sun, Mon. It would prolly be late afternoon or something. Though you know, now that I think about it, we really could have the shoot BOTH days if we wanted. Like, that's totally an option. If we all end up split between the days that is. : P
@Spleen: If it does end up being Sunday, we can just be sure to not schedule it at the same time as the Zim shoot so you could switch costumes if you wanted. I did that last year.

I know exactly what you mean. If you're going to put time into your cosplay, and a spend the extra money to make it look nice, then it shouldn't matter who you're cosplaying as, so long as you look awesome doing it.

yeah i'm keeping my eyes open, finding the right pieces to alter for cosplay are all about luck really xD ,

i just wanna go as a character i love and relate to & be the best of that character i can be . . . i sorta think that you shouldn't cosplay as a character you have nothing in common with looks wise or can't relate to . its like . . . whats the point then ? i couldn't help comparing myself to every Kairi i saw last year . . . but i think we all do that with our cosplays xD ! & i must agree that getting compliments & being noticed is what i really like about cosplaying . getting asked for my picture ( even if its just a bunch of random different guys o__o; ) and getting compliments on my outfit . like last year my favorite moment that beat even getting asked for pictures was when a girl actually came up to me & said," You're cosplay is amazing ! " and then she ran off into the crowd >w< !

But other than that... I really hope nobody tries to grab me for random fanservice.

I don't think thats really the spirit of an anime convention. you say you don't want to be mean or anything, but it's obvious that you will be walking around judging everybody that will be in the same costume style.
I know when I go and other people in the same costume as I, we all get along and basically have fun together. Your view of people with similar interests in cosplay is saddening to me.

Hey, as soon as I finish all my props... If I have time left I might be able to make more keyblades (for other people) what since now I know what the heck it is I'm doing with insulation foam and I have a Mouse. Of course, I probably won't be able to make anything particularly... filigree-esque, like Oathkeeper or either Ultima Weapon, but the bigger and chunkier weapons like Metal Chocobo or Monochrome are probably within my grasp. I'll have to talk to my dad about it, though. I'll post pictures of my Way to the Dawn when I finish it so you guys see.

Some people take it offensively, others sometimes agree, or just don't pay attention at all.
Really it all just depends on your views, because not everyone shares the same opinion on things.
I personally get a little annoyed when I see a character I like being poorly cosplayed, but that's just my view on the subject.

Nope, but that's part of the reason why we have this thread: to decide a time! ^^ So throw us some suggestions! At the moment, there's talk about having two photoshoots, one Saturday evening and one Sunday late morning I think. Do ya'll have any other preferences to throw out there?

Saturday evening would be good, we just need to figure out any scheduling hiccups that we might be able to avoid. Same thing goes for mid-morning on Sunday. Why not noon on Sunday? For the Trinity Blood photoshoot at Sakuracon, it was at eleven in the morning on Sunday and I didn't manage to get there until noon. Early doesn't always mean good.

Yeah nothing ever really happens in the morning. Then again, there are two so if we pick one good time for half, and then another time for everyone else or.. well I mean like if there are two then it should be okay and everybody should be able to make one. :] Morning is good for me, then again I could possibly be there the whole weekend so anything is good for me. ^_^; but mid-day is probably really good for most people.

I agree with mid - day being good for most people n__n . since some of us are going to be driven to the con from farther away then some other people, it might take longer to get there and an early time wouldn't work out then . but mid - day usually is good for everyone, as long as the photoshoot is not during the same time as another one someone is gunna go too .
x; i just prefere mid - day myself as i'm not sure i could get a ride there ( or wake up >w>; ) so early in the morning, though i'll be there all 3 days i'm pretty sure, so i'll be sure to manage to get to at least one, i'd like to be there for both though n__n !

Last years kumoricon there was a girl that came up and asked for a picture and said "FINALLY there's a Ritsuka and Soubi pair where the Soubi is TALLER than Ritsuka!" and I was like "ora? O.O"
Cosplay is VERY expensive...and I'm too much of a damn perfectionist, I even went as far as to buy green contacts for my axel cosplay, and I'm letting my sister borrow my blue ones for Roxas (i've discovered that sharing contacts isn't all that bad as it's said to be, cause you clean it with solution every time you use them) but I mean buying contacts isn't TOO far....but I also shaved off half of my eyebrows! (I think it actually looks better that way though)
SOOOOO even though I'm working my butt off for my cosplay, my sister is being lazy and saying stuff like "I wanna cosplay as code geass more than KH!" and I say "you'll be my Roxas...you'll be him and LIKE it! >:(" Heh...she doesn't have a choice really -evil grin-
She wants me to be damn Karren becaus eI have big boobs! and I wanna be lelouch, and then SHE wants to be Lelouch...

The photoshoots are so fun, I made so many new freinds last year, i think our group had like 5 people before the shoot and after it we had like 10, it was epic.
i just want to meet a really cute roxas owo; or sora, axel, riku, or demyx xD ! just to hang around with n__n .
and haha! pretty much a guarantee you'll meet not just one but a few XD

I've gone to cons and I have seen the many many forums that flame people for whatever reason. I just don't understand why the gathering of people celebrating such a wonderful thing have a tendency to hate on so many people for whatever reason.
Everybody could find something wrong with somebodies costumes, i just think whatever that problem or dislike may be should be ignored and just the fact that they took time to do whatever their abilities/finances/time would allow should be met with a huge glomping hug instead of a cruel-haunting glare.
Taking pride in your cosplay is a great thing. I suggest if you see someone in a costume of equal/less/better quality than yours, just hope they have the same positive outlook on things as i do rather than some of the previous posts.
I hope to see you all at Kumoricon. I will be easily spotted.
I also may walk around with a spray bottle of "Drama B-Gone" and will spray those who deserve it.

@ sekitan: Your wig is t3h amazing. My Demyx wig used to have this huge honkin' mullet-o-doom that I used very little hairspray on, and it stuck straight up. It was amazing. You know, if you're cutting your Chakrams out of wood you could always use a mouse to shape them. Mousy-mousy love!

We're meeting in the park. That's where most of the photoshoots are, unless some other area is more fitting to the actual setting of the anime/manga/whatever.
We can still meet Sunday if people want. I like it to be early-ish, like 11-ish, cuz then we're less likely to end up scheduled at the same time as other events. Especially since the Saturday shoot is so easy for people to get to time-wise, I think it's not as big of a deal if the Sunday one is earlier.

Yup, 3:00 works for me.As for location, the park is generally the best place, and as for where in the park XP...I can bring a giant sign and we can just find the best spot? It wont be hard though to find the shoot if its in the park, you'd just have to look for the giant mass of KH cossers lol
I know Sunday is the FF photoshoot, and last year we did a huge gathering after our individuals ones, it made for one epic picture, so we can have maybe a minishoot sunday if we wanted as well? We may be able to snag a Cloud, Leon/Squall or two haha

Are you even talking about me? There were like seven Larxenes. I was the tallest one, I think. Six feet tall and four-inch heels besides that that gave me a systemic nerve palsy in three toes and giant blisters. I had a nice coat, though... If it helps, I had an annoying blue and pink bag with lots of buttons and was the one that suggested crackshipping for one of the poses in the shoot... I was only Larxene on Saturday.
@ sekitan bun: Sorry, I threw that wig away because it was crap-tastic. The shoes too. No more Larxene for me!

You want detail, try artbook Trinity Blood. The sheer amount of grommets used to hold the costumes together will amaze you. Tetsuya Nomura may put random buckles in places that lead to nowhere, but Thores Shibamoto puts grommets where they simply don't belong.
Update on the keyblade: Yaaaaaay I finish sanding tomorrow and I'll be able to give it a coat of house paint and then I can break out the acrilics!

Yush, we have our 5th Street Public Market, which looks a great deal like Twilight Town. It even has an old mansion behind it across the train tracks that has a hole in a fence nearby that leads towards the property.
And while we don't have sushi in staggering quantities, we do have Toshi's Ramen.

OWO;; it's a good thing you don't have my Kairi dress, then... The two zippers up the sides are how you take it off and the entire thing is one big tube dress. The shirt underneath included.
I'm ashamed of that dress... I really am. If I ever cosplay Kairi again I'll be a winter version of her schoolgirl outfit. Because, well, heck. Short skirts don't like me.

I felt really accomplished when I got my wig done, and then I tried cutting up an old blond wig and tried to style Roxas hair for mah sis...didn't work out too well...the wig was absolute CRAP (I bought it from party city...not very reliable)

I didn't have to make my Chakrams, I bought them at a booth at Sakuracon, but they had a horrible paint job.
It's just time consuming to draw out the pattern, and then paint in straight lines four times.
Buying Organization coats.. Idk, I guess I'm more for custom, since Axel's coat fits his body more then any of the other members.

Now that is VERY true, the thing about his coat fitting to his body the most.
I was thinking of buying the coat, and then customize it. These ebay sellers always have SOMETHING wrong with the order, I just need a basic starter cause I've never attached a zipper to anything, and it would be a little difficult to find one that long.
I need to work a little bit on the wig too, but it's coming along quite nicely, it's actually one of the best ones I've seen so far....and I surprised myself, cause seeing a lot in the past, I thought it was gonna SUCK.
I didn't get to photoshop my pics at all..I'm a peasant so photoshot is like god to me, but besides the money problem I still find myself with mountains of anime and manga...Now how does that work out? O.O

I bought my Kadaj costume from ebay, and they did do a good job, but it's a little big for me. ~ ~
I'm the mannequin for this cosplay.
My cosplay group dresses me, and does my hair, and even part of my makeup.
I just sit there. :-O

I do buy all the materials for the cosplay, though.
I getta buy another wig to sew into the one I have already for extra support for the spikes.
Which should be a fantastic blast. But the wefts are already made, so there would just be sewing involved. [Relief]

My Kanda cosplay is from ebay and it's WAY too big =_='
But the wig I got for that cosplay was really high quality! though I couldn't get it to stay up in a pony tail without it sagging...that was VERY annoying..
Got2beglued was AMAZING.
I didn't think it would stay up, but the wig was also MEAN'T for styling so that helped.
I'm always wanting to cosplay as people with coats, that's why I can't as easily just MAKE my cosplay.
And as for sharing cosplays, pfft! my friend Bryce is greedy.
I asked to borrow his ouran jacket, and he said no but let me try it on (it was too big anyway)
And at S-con I asked to borrow his Lavi cosplay (I even bought and styled his wig for him) and he said I had to pay 15 bucks for rental >:x
My other friends are a lot nicer, and I'm sure they'd let me borrow one, but they always have frilly things, or cosplays from games or anime I haven't played or I'm not into (like chrono crusade and card captor sakura)

I'm thinking about getting a Zexion wig for my friend Vassa, preferably the same one as my Axel wig just a different color.
Yesterday I combed out my axel wig after washing it and put it on and parted it and I thought it would make a perfect Zexy wig :3
I'm really procrastinating on my chakrams, mainly because it took 4 HOURS just to do the outline of one of them, and a week to cut it out. THEN I lost my measurements for the last one, so I had to trace my first one....gah it's stressful..
But my dad's a contractor so I can easily get my hands on tools to make my cosplay weapons X)

I just need shoes for Demyx and I oughta be good. Then all summer I'll be fighting the urge to make a SOLDIER uniform out of the random stuff in my room I didn't know I owned. HOWEVER! Next weekend I get to go back to making Materia and working on my sitar!

That sounds like fun! I once drew a Halloweentown version of Kadaj, and I was dead-set on making it, but abandoned it when I realized that a burlap cloak would itch like all hell. Especially with all that straw in random places...

Probably, depending on the store. I'd check Joann's Fabrics. That's where my group gets most of it's fabric. Or Walmart, but Joanns is prolly better XD

If they didn't all you would need to do would be mix together blue and green RIT dye and dye the lace by hand in your sink and then hang it out to dry. Real fun stuff, RIT dye is.

So much cosplay.. So little time. I managed to fix my poor Axel wig.. it seemed to have suffered much smooshings from Saboten-Con here in Arizona. Mix Got-2-B-Glued freezing spray and some long long straight pins... I now have a spiky wig again! Somehow I always seem to get the spikes skinny though. I must be doin somethin different than others. XD For a noobie wig styler, I don't think I'm doin half bad though. XD Figuring out what to do with my chakrams is giving me pause though. Currently I have foam ones, but they are so badly beaten up. But yet I'm debating on whether I have time to carve ones out of wood. Somehow I'm dreading the carving. Lol. I do still have all of July and August to work on them, and well as what's left of June. So.. without any further interruptions (I wish..) Back to work!

This is actually the second wig I've ever styled and it's prety schweet.
But as for the spike thing, my wig was pretty thick so it was easy to just do the spike by holding them up. What's funny though is the first time I styled it I used the freeze got2beglued cement AND hairspray, but them I figured out that it's a lot better to just use the spray...psht..what a waste of money for the cement it was like 6 bucks (I'm a penny pincher sometimes XD)
I was also scared to cut out my chakrams too, but it looks pretty cool actually : )
you should do it though! it took me...what...like 3 to 4 hours just to do the outline of it accurately and my dad helped me cut it out with his jigsaw, but you won't be disappointed I'm sure! and my chakrams are so STURDY my sister's boyfriend was like " this is pathetic I can rip this spike off!" he was straining for like...five minutes XD

@ sekitan bun: You even let him try to begin with? Made of anything less than metal I'd be scared shi*less to even touch something like those because they look so fragile. Hell, I'm scared to touch my sitar half the time.
@ Prince Nori: I'm thinking either the Kanekalon Beast wig from Amphigory in Ultra-Perky (if you really wanna have a ball chopping, styling and spiking), or the Punky from Cosworx in Pink (if you wanna spend more time getting it to loose some volume). Either one will take a lot of time... But a really nice Marluxia wig is totally worth it, ne?

I'm also having trouble with the peeks in my Axel wig now, and I'm thinking og cutting them out, like cutting the part where it holds the hair at the root, does anyone think that's a bad idea?

Rule number one when dealing with wigs: if it seems like a bad idea, it most likely is one.

If you are lucky and have extra money, you could always buy a spare, or experiment wig. But otherwise, it would be safest not to do it.

Well, for my Axel wig, this is what I did, and it seems to work out well, with only one minor detail. I used a Punky XL in the black and red from Amphigory as the base wig. To make the widow's peak in front, I actually did trim a bit out of the wig cap to form the peak. Since stuff was loose then, I used superglue to seal the edge so it doesn't fray or unravel. It seems to work fine, I've had no real issues with it. Only problem though was the superglue. The bit that's sticking out from under the wig cap sometimes rubs on my forehead and itches. So, what I did to remedy that is put a little strip of felt under the edge of the peak and sides and liquid stitched it on. Worked great, and looks great. Only thing I wish I did do (and I may do this later), is make some wefts and sew them into the back of this wig. The spikes aren't likin to stay out. The top is ok, plenty of hair there, but it thins out in the back. Later on I may take another punky, rip it apart and sew the wefts into this wig. But, no money for that at the moment.
Btw, adding to the above cutting the wig comment.. I did attempt it first on another punky I had, to make sure it'd work out ok. It did. XD Just gotta make sure to seal the edge with some type of glue, or you will unravel.
*Edit* Oh hey Richie! What i've seen done for peacebonding Sitars... They usually wrap the peacebond material (either plastic or zipties) around the neck of the sitar, close to where the base is at.

yeah, the glue helps just to keep the front wefts from falling off. I had that problem on the test wig, especially on the peak. a weft fell off and I was like.. Uhm.. ok. So, glue works. Just be careful not to get too much on it, or rather underneath it, or it'll make your head itch.

I finished carving the backside of Demyx! Er... The sitar. Yeah. I didn't go at the Melodious Nocturne with a cheese grater.
Now for the hell known as keeping the sitar in one place while I figure out a way to carve the faceplate...

I put it on top of a Zip-e-Slide on top of two sawhorses. Zip-e-Slide = padded floor slide thing for working under cars.
Demyx's faceplate, top and weird thingie are all carved! Now I need to finish the sanding and spackle it!

Well, I suppose the obvious answer would be silk flowers... But then again, those don't look the greatest. Why not sculpt them from paperclay or Fimo or something and then paint them?

Sculpy clay is nice and sturdy, but as such it is a little spendy. It's usually worth it though. ^^ Or this cement stuff that I can't remember the name of right now, which may also be spendy and I think dries a little heavy, but is super strong. If you've seen pics of our group's Riku's keyblade, she made it mostly out of the cement stuff. Basically I would go for something really strong, cuz no matter how careful you are, your keyblade will get bashed at some point, and the flowers will be the first thing to break. ^^;

Yeah, the clay stuff is called Sculptamold. It comes in a bag and is usually pretty cheap. You mix it with water and stir it up. Its really messy but works well and is cheap. It does dry heavy though, and youll definately need to sand it down.
But, it is good stuff.and cheap. Like 4 ish bucks for 3 lbs of clay. Yaaaay cheap clay.
P.S. Our Riku says you can get it at Ben Franklin.

Well.. For updates.. I made a nobody/organization XIII tanktop.. But sadly it got ruined. The iron on transfer didnt take like I thought it would. Plus, somehow it got messed up due to water. o.O Next time.. Fabric paint. Chakrams I haven't had time to even think of starting (It's 110+ here in phoenix... I am NOT going to be out there with a jigsaw!). Organization coat got some fixings, I am drawing schematics for my boot covers (So I can get the correct tops applied). And for the surprise I've been working on for my Roxy.. (she knows, so its safe to tell!) I have been working on carving out a Two Across keyblade. So far, it's coming out really well. Cant wait to get the other side finished so I can start fine sanding and shaping it. I'll get some pics up when I can. I hope to have it ready for Kumori-con, even if I don't get my chakrams done. The foam ones seem to be holding up ok for now.

Heres an attempt at Kairis necklace
I used a bead that I thought closest resembled hers found my jewlery makeing stuff and for the metal spiral on top I tightend the spiral on part of a spiral from a spiral notebook and glued it to the bead. The neclace is tie on (couldnt make a hook for that kind of neclace string sorry) So if you like it its yours if not, well at least you have an Idea on how to make your own ^_^

I'm gonna bring up an old topic if you don't mind. So, for the KH photoshoot. I would be perfectly happy and actually prefer if we really did plan photoshoots for both Sat and Sun (first two days of the con) as I'll be in KH cosplay both those days. Also, that helps for people who want to go to other huge photoshoots (like Naruto, FF, etc) that are usually on Sunday, AND allows us to have our own huge photoshoot on that day. Most huge photoshoots are on Sunday after all. ^^ Right now Tom has us down for for Sat at 3pm. If that's perfectly fine with everyone and no one really wants a Sunday photoshoot, that's cool. Just thought I'd throw it out there if anyone was interested. ^^

I'm gonna suggest 9:30/10? I like late morning, personally, and especially since our Sat shoot is in the afternoon. Also, I think last year the FF shoot was at the same time as KH since the two overlap character-wise, so we can talk to the FF planners if we want, too. ^^

But, the naruto one is at 9:00, i wouldnt be able to make both shoots. I wouldnt have a problem with sunday if it was later in the day.

Well I'm thinking Sunday at 12:00 or 1:00 for the Trinity Blood shoot (for the obvious "We're preists/nuns having a photoshoot on Sunday!"), so I'll be in a big white poofy thing for that. Unless you want a nun pulling her garter shotgun on the Organization, I say 10:00-ish.

@Bundy: That's why we're having two, one Sat afternoon and one Sun, so people such as yourself who want to be at multiple photoshoots can. : P And last year, I totally made both the KH and Naruto shoots, and they were only 30min apart if I remember right. XD So it is possible. Just depends on if you wanna bother changing costumes. ^^
I'm fine with 10, or even 11, but not past noon. The Sat one is at 3pm, so if people want a later time they could go to that one. People like me who like morning shoots can go to the Sun one. X3

Don't worry! This time next year I'll have finished my KH Mary Sue! I'll have one multicolored wing, teal hair, two keyblades and totally detailed battle-inappropriate clothing with lots of giant zippers and all sorts of chains and buckles.

It seems most people agree with 11am on Sunday (second day of con). Also, apparently the Forum Meetup Panel is at 3pm on Sat, followed by the Pocky Club panel at 4. So, do we wanna move the Sat photoshoot time from 3pm to 2pm, or is no one really interested in those panels? I'm sure we'll hang out for more than an hour, which is why I include the Pocky Club Panel. ^^

The official schedule isn't out, but a few events are already set in stone. And we're having two because some people have multiple costumes, some will only be in costume a certain day, and some are picky about getting up early. So we're making two. ^^

@Richie: I think preparation for the cosplay contest takes basically all day. Not that you have to be there for all of the preparations. If your group is all set and ready to go, you won't have to spend as much time getting ready, and therefore will have more free time. ^^ I don't know about chess though. >>

Er... We have our props done and that's about it. I mean, we have to block and record lines at the con because we all live spread out between here and Portland. And one of our people runs on Apple, so our sound files aren't compatible.
The only thing required for Cosplay Chess is the pre-meet, and that's right before the actual event.

I'll persuade my little brother to do Sora's lines (since Demyx and Sora shouldn't sound alike) and I'll see what I can do for tall, dark and scary's actor. Other than that we have a person for all the lines. I think. We've got everyone, right?

It's the only day the shop's closed, so there won't be any distractions.

Been working on stuff here. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to bring my Axel costume to Kumori-con, sadly. The hard part is going to be my chakrams. I really dont trust them on the airliner, and I have really no place to ship the box containing said chakrams to in Oregon so I can have them. *scratches head* So.. I might come as Axel.. sans chakrams. Work has thoroughly prevented me from working on making wood ones at the moment, so I have my uber delicate foam ones I'd have to bring. So, most of the time I might be in another costume that isn't KH related. =\

I'm feeling much too lazy to go back, and see if I already posted on this thread before, but, if I did, I'm happy to say that I am still planning on going as Axel. And I'm pretty sure I'll have a Roxas with me, and possibly a Demyx. Fun fun. This might even be the first con where I'll have chakram. Even more exciting. I can't wait to see you all there!

I found a really good pair of boots at Value Village today that would work perfectly for Org boots.
They're 8 - 8.5, and around 10$, if anyone wants me to pick them up.
I'll post pictures if anyone's interested.

After all, I got my hands on a dirty blond Punky and here we are, a good four months later with a giant sitar. Bad things. They have happened. Just take organic vanilla ice cream and add salt to it. I made mine home made so it tasted pretty good and then I put in too much salt T-T A whole quart wasted! *sobs*

Murr. Sea-salt ice cream is very temperamental, it's very easy to add too much salt.
Even when that happens (and that's the only experience I've had with it) it still tastes kind of okay. If you have a glass of water nearby...

Chester The Heartless
Per the rules of Organization XIII,
Chester the Heartless, was forcibly kicked out
of Castle Oblivion one day without
Demyx knowing.
Poor Chester sought help in his
new strange world and began to wreak
havoc and chaos with other Shadow
and Neo Shadow Heartless nearby.
Everything was fine until a young man
with silver hair appeared.
Chester, thinking this person could be
his friend, decided to approach him.
But the man attacked him!
Five minutes later, Chester had been
beaten almost to death by this man
and his "evil" keyblade! How cruel!
Luckily, Roxas happened to be in the
area and recognized little Chester.
Feeling he should help the poor Heartless
out, Roxas swooped in to save the day.
Roxas defeated the man and kept Chester
company outside of the Castle for days
to come.
That is, until the man returned and
defeated Roxas by turning into someone else.
Poor Chester. He was all alone again.
So he waited and waited with his Heartless kin.
Then a young man who looked like
Roxas showed up. Excited, Chester ran
to see this man- only to be attacked.
Sad, confused, and very afraid, Chester ran
for his dear little life from
this man with spikey hair.
Demyx happened to be leaving the Castle
to find this man with spikey hair,
and saw him attacking his dear
Chester!
Pissed beyond reason, Demyx opened
attack on this man and swore his demise.
So as the sun sets, remember this.
Do not pick on little Shadow Heartless
near Castle Obvlivion. You never know if
one just might happen to belong to the
bi-polar member, Demyx.

On the subject of Gundam Wing, I got the last major piece of my Wufei costume today! Now I just have to edit my knickers and make sure my foil is in working order.
I thought maybe large-print insults about the intelligence of the other characters at the con. It seemed in character. Emotes sounds awesome. I think I'll try that.

So I love KH with a passion but I couldn't think of a character that I could cosplay. I won't be a very sexy man and I'm not cute enough to be Kairi. I was talking to a friend and he suggested I go as a heartless. I was like OMG!! FANTASTIC IDEA!! So either for Sakuracon or K-con next year I want to be a solider heartless.

@ Hashi : So I finished Roxas' finger protectors~ I found some stretchy material laying around the house and used that. I only had black though, so I have to use stiff white fabric for his white guard - and I made it too long again so I folded it in x_x I need white stretchy material~~~

Yeah, it's the one across the street from the "Beaverton Town Square" which is just a horrendous name for a glorified stripmall, my gawd. They've got a couple good colors for Zexion, and a lot of different lengths/styles. I was really impressed.

@malaria: There's also the option of actually dying the wig. Would save money if you plan to cosplay Zexy more. : P And as for us helping you with your wig, there's no way we could come up Friday, regardless of having a place to stay, so we'd only be able to do it at the con. You could bring it the first day and we could mess with it that night if you wanted, since we're doing Org cosplay on Sunday anyway. : P Sall up to you.

Does anyone perhaps know of a place I can get (online only plz) a custom sized cardboard box? XD I need to find one to bring my weapons to Kumori-con in.. >.> My Axel chakrams are 3 feet across. XD So, attempting to find a way to get them from Arizona to Oregon has been a bit of difficulty in my plans. =P

Your best bet would be to just search places where they toss boxes for people to grab who are moving. They usually have all different sizes of boxes. You could also try asking stores if they have any boxes that you could have.

Try local stores that sell the "Everything" stuff -not mall stores- and ask them if you can have some boxes. Usually they'll let you take a peek at them.
And the Post Office give away FREE Priority boxes (I'm pretty sure- they do here at least).

I dunno, Ive ordered from cosworx twice and Ive never gotten it more than a week and a half later. Even when they said my order was backordered, they mailed it off like 2 days later. But, did you order on like a friday? If so it probably wasnt sent out until monday or when it was processed.

I've never heard of shipping taking a month unless the item's being made after you order it. Most shipping takes 5 days to almost 17 days to get to its destination. Least in my case cause I live at the end of the word =_=;

They save you a lot of time, that's for sure. There's another way to get into Mac from Newberg without going through Dundee, but I don't know that one too well.
The other two short cuts when traffic's backed up clear to Newberg are nice, but they lead you into Dundee, and you still have to deal with traffic, unless you go through the neighborhoods and come out around 10th st.

I think you can do that. If they aren't shipping what you paid for, then you either need to contact them, and be thorough and perhaps even a little rude (but mature about it), and if they don't reply back with information on your item, then you should definitely contact someone, and give the seller a negative review. Always be sure to check their feedback before you buy from someone.

So, the Sat photoshoot is currently set at 3pm. But the Karaoke Contests start at 3:30. Could we move the photoshoot up to 2 maybe? I doubt I'm the only one planning to watch or be in the Karaoke contest, but if I am, we don't have to move the photoshoot. XD
I don't see any major conflicts with the Sun at 11am shoot, besides the Ouran Tea Party which we already knew was gonna conflict. : P
Anyone else have any problems with the scheduling?

But if I can't get it finished (in mind that I don't get my Roxas wig *grr*) I'll try to come as School girl Aqua- in which case I'll be dragging along my kingdom key with a Chii plushie attached to it XD The metal one keeps beating up the paint lol. I went as her one day at Sakura Con.
But if I CAAAAAN get it finished - I just got a look at Aqua's non armor outfit and I think I can make it. I've got LOTS of purple left over and well... Some white, but I bet I can find some white around the house I can snip up. In short - her costume basically can be a closet costume lol! I'll go around this morning and see what I can find. (Yes I am insane.)

Last year I made Yagi stay up with me till 3:45 in the morning while I painted my Lexicon. By painted I mean used a pencil to splurch white paint in a vaguely recognizable pattern all over my really really fake leather binding. LOOKS FABULOUS, I SAY.

XD Speaking of, making Aqua's costume in 24 hours lol not that bad. I'm heading to bed now, but when I wake up all I have to do is make the cross for the front of her shirt and the weird heart crest out of cardboard.
Any idea how one would attach that to fabric? Oo; Staple + glue perhaps? If I can find the staples... Of course I'd attach it before I paint it.

E6000 is your friend. If not that, then see if you can get silver thread and do a cross pattern across the front of the heart-thing to whip-stitch it on. But other than that a hot glue gun would work wonders too. That's how I attached about ten pounds of armor to one of my costumes.

E6000 is the mother of all glues, once you let it dry. It'll bond something spraypainted to a piece of plastic, that's how amazing it is. It'll actually bond just about anything to anything else.
Or you could, you know, just use superglue. Or hot glue. Just make sure to not paint one side of the thing.

I don't think peace bonding applies outside of the convention. XD You'll get some funny stares, but I doubt you'll get in trouble for it : P

Well no, Peacebonding is so you don't get in trouble with the law. The Police forces and stuff are told of the events. But I'm wondering about a weapon BEFORE it's peacebonded? Or should I just wrap it up in a coat or something?

It'll be fine. It's a giant wooden key. I've carried weirder things on the bus, and being in Portland, I'm sure it'll be even less of a deal : P

LOL I carried my keyblade from my house all the way to our apartment and Im sure I got weird stares but no police pulled over and complained XD; Plus Yagi says she took the bus to Kcon last year and had 2 plastic swords attached to her luggage and it wasnt a problem, so I really wouldnt worry too much :D

XD Yes, I got weird looks when I carried my keyblade in from my car to my house as I live on the highway. My neighbor even asked me "what the HECK are you going to open with that?!" "....My door." "*starts laughing hysterically* "....*sweatdrop*"
Well I meant like bus xD I'll just have to hold onto it real good since the paint doesn't like me and likes to chip off x_x Wish I could spray paint a quick sealant or something over it so it would stop chipping. It's not even chipping.. It's just a slight clank against anything and the paint gets moved to white, like it isn't fully dry- when it is. ??? I'm at a loss.
Found my other pair of pants~ With all the buttons~ Good thing I bought two the exact same size eh? XD *never finds my sizes for sale in pants and that day I found two* :D

I feel ya with the sticky paint. My keyblade has a little green spot on one of the red parts because it was laid against my giant throwing star, and my giant throwing star has green materia in the materia slots in the center.

You know what's a good, cheap paint sealant? Aqua Net. No joke. Probably not quite as good on something like a handle that will get sweaty from being held all the time, but for the rest that you handle less often, it'll work fine. I usually spray several coats of Aqua Net on all my painting accessories. ^^ For something like the handle of our struggle bats, though, I used an actual, more water-resistant sealant. : P

Um..another reminder to recruit at the con! and also that we are having 2 photoshoots so be sure to tell people that too! I cant wait to meet everyone and I hope that the shoot is big!
Dont forget your cameras and I would like to request in advance that after the con if people could upload their pictures and post a link to them on this thread, it would be great! We all love seeing our costumes and its such fun to see everyone together ^^ Oh, but if possible no myspace, simply because people without it cannot view the pictures DX

I might try to sneak away since it's at the same time xDD But who knows.. hehe. I'll come to the Sunday one too as Aqua. But after the photos I have to change into Yuna (songstress) xD; Aqua doesn't last very long v_v Which is good, cause I'm not too proud of her shorts...

It's too rainy to clean out my car here... Gotta love living RIGHT at the ocean.. And my sleep patterns messed up, thank you Forbidden Memories... Dunno why I played you.. I gotta force myself to sleep in like 5 hours so I can wake up with enough time to pack.

I haven't been posting here on the forums because I've been hellishly busy but I still plan on going in my Roxas costume. Sadly, Zombieface won't be sporting Axel this year because I couldn't get it done on time (Stayed up til 2:30-3amish trying, it defeated me in the end!) but there's always next year.
I'm really excited about the photoshoot and meeting other KH cosplayers =)
What time is the shoot for sure, btw? I wasn't sure what page the final time was posted on ^_^;
