i was looking up an anime i'm collecting and i read this
On September 26, 2007, Geneon's United States branch announced that they were withdrawing from distribution in North America and canceling all DVDs in that particular region after November 6, 2007.

The onetime anime distribution company Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. has notified its retail customers that it will cease "the sales of DVDs and all related distribution and marketing operations as of 5 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007." The deadline for ordering all Geneon USA products is that time and date, and only orders for "catalog products in inventory or new releases with a street date" of November 6 or earlier will be accepted. Any outstanding retail orders will ship as soon as stock is available. No more returns will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on November 30, and new orders after September 21 cannot be returned at all. The letter to retailers also says that "payables to Geneon remain unchanged."

this scares me as i'm in the middle of collecting the anime "Karin" and not to mention
the hellsing OVA's!!!!
i hope that the stuff gets realeased some how :(

Just took a quick look at ANN's site to see if anything new has developed, and while I didn't find anything directly, I did see the ADV and Funimation have had layoffs of about 10% for each company.
Do you suppose all those fansub downloaders are not making any purchases later, or what?
And as if Hellsing wasn't already a cliffhanger with the old series!

I like Chibi Vampire manga and the one novel I have read, so how is the series?
Also, it seems that this has affected my Hellsing Ultimate order already. It's either on back-order due to demand, or demand is up due to Geneon calling it quits, or something I am not sure about. I just hope it shows up before I forget to keep subtracting money out of my checkbook at the start of each month for orders that haven't been filled and charged to my account. sigh
Has anyone else encountered such problems ordering Geneon stuff yet?

I usually rent anime from netflix or buy it off of ebay.... can't say I've ever bought anything directly from Geneon

I like Chibi Vampire manga and the one novel I have read, so how is the series?
To be honest, I've only seen the first DVD volume of the animated series, but it's pretty good. So far, it's pretty much in line with the manga. (The opening segment is freakin hilarious).

it is differnt enought that your not just watching the manga, theres a character who isn't in the manga that is in the anime a vampire hunter called winner

I was talking with someone I know who works at a Suncoast in Vancouver, and he let me know about another one of those anime days, where they have cosplay contests & anime is at a majorly huge discount price. They're also going to decorate the anime section with tombstones (even though it's after Halloween) for Geneon & Pioneer.
The event is on Dec. 2! (3 days before my 25th b-day!)

They're also going to decorate the anime section with tombstones (even though it's after Halloween) for Geneon & Pioneer.

Thought about it, but I also have a Suncoast backstage pass, so with that, I can get a 25% discount (I think) on my birthday, so I can do BOTH!!! (Or I can use the first one for buying Hannukah gifts!)

That's kind of disappointing and I'd love to spen more on anime, but it's an expensive hobby >_<. I've got that shoulder bag that says "Anime-Crack is Cheaper" and it's soooo true :P.

yay, I really wasnt hopping after talking to some tokyo pop peeps at sakuracon but maybe i can finaly finish my Karin collection!!!
