Title: REDUX: New Kingdom Hearts games coming out!
Post by: Pie Row Maniac on September 28, 2007, 09:36:47 am
At the 2007 Tokyo Show, it was announced that three new KH games are being released. Unfortunately, there's little to no talk of any American releases, so keep your fingers crossed. Hell, I'm still hoping an American release for KHII Final Mix+ is in the works. The info below is taken from the current entries of the games on Wikipedia.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Platform: Nintendo DS

358/2 Days revolves around the untold events of Roxas during his time with Organization XIII and will take place during the year that Sora was asleep between the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. The initial trailer showed most of the events in Twilight Town. Organization XIII's headquarters was also featured.

The gameplay is similar to the action-RPG style of the previous games in the series. The game will feature both single player and multiplayer gameplay. Single player will be story based focused on Disney worlds from past games and will progress in days. Cooperative multiplayer was one feature on display at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show demonstrating that players can work together, in addition to the traditional use of AI controlled partners. Multiplayer gameplay is separate from the single player story and will be mission-based. It will also allow up to four players to play as one of the thirteen members of Organization XIII. Each member will have different weapons and skills.

Kingdom Hearts coded
Platform: Mobile Phones

Coded is set after the events of Kingdom Hearts II. Jiminy Cricket returns to Disney Castle to organize the records in his journal. In his journal he finds a message that he did not write, "We must return to free them from their torment." To investigate this message, King Mickey digitizes the contents of the journal which awakens a virtual Sora on Destiny Islands.

Coded will be a puzzle game with action mixed into the gameplay. The action gameplay is believed to be similar to the action-RPG style of the previous games in the series. The game will feature 3D graphics, with backgrounds in 3D and characters in 2D. The initial trailer showcased Sora in dungeons with floating red and black blocks. Battle also features a "debugging" mode to remove the blocks.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Platform: Playstation Portable (PSP)

Birth by Sleep focuses on the story of Keyblade masters before Sora from the original Kingdom Hearts game and is a prequel, taking place ten years before the original Kingdom Hearts. It is also believed to be connected to the unlockable trailers at the end of Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+. The story revolves around three Keyblade students in search of a missing Keyblade master, Master Xehanort, and his apprentice. Their disappearance foreshadows a great disaster.

Birth by Sleep is a single player action-RPG which features melee combat. The gameplay is believed to have gameplay similar to the action-RPG style of the previous games in the series. Tetsuya Nomura has stated that the gameplay will be similar to Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories in that decks will be used. The game will be divided into three scenarios, with each scenario having different styles of gameplay based on the personalities and abilities of the three main characters. The developers also plan to add multiplayer components and a new character growth system.
