This has not been confirmed (we're trying, but we have not heard back from Uwajimaya or JASO yet!),
WE WILL BE HERE! :D
And we are looking for who would be willing and able to work either / or September 15 & 16, 2007 11:00am - 5:00pm (yes, this upcoming weekend) at Uwajimaya, 10500 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy.
I believe we will be able to take registrations for Kcon 2008 at this. We will not have new fliers / posters yet.
To quote the Japan American Society website (they actually put this on)
"This exciting community event will showcase a wide variety of performances, exhibitions, cultural demonstrations and artisans. Everything from Taiko drumming to Koto, Martial Arts and Japanese children's games will be experienced at this event which will highlight the many aspects of Japanese culture."
And you can ask anyone - it's a lot of fun!
-
I plan to be there this weekend anyway, so I would be glad to help out and man the booth. ^_^
-
i just got back from uwajimaya with my mom, and was wondering when it would be posted (otherwise i woulda posted now that have an info sheet)
chris and i should be able to help, if k-con has a booth, the only thing we have going on this weekend is dinner with a friend whos coming to town
mmm i wonder if they'll have taiyaki?
or shaved ice!
-
I can be there sunday (saturday night I work all night )
What are we going to have at the booth?
-
Leftover con stuff mostly. ;) We are working on accepting registrations for 2008 at $25. We'll display the new mascot (printed pics) and probably have a slide show of stuff from this year. Thank you for saying you will help on Sunday!
Jaz -- what day would you and Chris like to come? MMMMmmm. Taiyaki.

I will defiantly be there Sunday. sorry I cant be there Saturday as I am working all day.
BUT I'm bringing a sign with me.
Go to the following website and you will understand :)

-
I will be there with kylite on Sunday, I will try to be there on Saturday as well, but I'll have to play that one by ear as I'm still recuperating from being sick and don't want to push myself too hard.
-
Myself and Lucas G can work any time you would like. If you know when you would like us just let me know. You can call me (should be on the staff list)or email me faeriedust713@hotmail.com

We plan to be there anyway and I would love to help out some more!
-
I can probably be out there both days if needed. I'll also make more volunteers and reg staff aware of this and see what we can do to get reg for 08 up and running, even just in paper form.
-
Well, like I said, I was already planning to attend this event to see A-Key Kyo, so I would be glad to help out both days if needed. I can be there whenever I am needed, essentially.

chris and i can be there saterday, for most of the day at least, how early do you need us? we could help set up if needed
on sunday maybe not but, i might be able to talk chris into coming by in the afternoon, chris just wanted one day at home as we were out of town last weekend (i got to see my grandma and aunt yay! and my uncle.) and the week before was k-kon(=funny no?typed in that way by acident but i think i'll keep it that way) and before that bag (what was the other thing going on that weekend?) stuffing, chris want a day at home... and i promised i'd make him breakfast, the man has a mighty thirst for pan-cakes!!!

Do you need a ride Sunday? I have to work Saturday but I plan to be there for opening until AT LEAST late afternoon on Sunday!
Count me in guys =D
-
I will set up on SAturday and can work all day if need be. I would rather not be there on Sunday, except I can come for tear down if need be (I have a very neglected friend that I set a date with on Sunday before this came up!)
-
You might not have fliers/posters. But you will have signs!! At least I think so.
Edit: I'll try and be there. :x
-
I can probably help out for a few hours on Saturday.
On Sunday I can definitely help set up in the morning and help man the booth in the afternoon and do tear down, but I already made a commitment to be at the Center for Japanese Studies table from 10AM to 2PM.

I can help on Sunday for most of the day. But I have a previous engagement on Saturday.
-
I can try and be there on Saturday depending on what time my family is done with the OMSI trip. The cadavers are there and I wanna see them, because I'm odd that way.
Sunday I can try again as well. My only question is this: Since I was reg staff for '07, how much would I pay to pre-reg for '08 as staff again?

I heard that Hakatamon will be doing the taiyaki again, and I'm pretty sure that someone will be doing shaved ice (can't remember all the details, though).

Nice. I was planning on wearing mine anyway along with my staff shirt. Good advertisement when I'm away from the booth.
-
For those coming out on Sunday who couldn't make it Saturday, booth location is basically really close to the Uwajimaya doors, right by one of the stages.
-
Give me a call if you need transportation today. Have fun!

Yay! It was a blast helping out! That's such a great haul of registrations and profit. Good news!

Man, I gotta get online tonight and show you guys all the pictures!
Anybody know a good compression system that will let me send them over to Jeff for the web page so he doesn't have to upload each one individually?
-
WinRAR is better and cheaper than WinZip. There are free zipping programs available, also, like the one built into Windows XP. The archive will be large (as photos don't compress), but you can use YouSendIt, or a similar service, so it doesn't fill up an email box.
-
If you must use .zip, please use 7zip to compress it. http://www.7-zip.org/ (http://www.7-zip.org/) The program is free and, while still complying with the zip standard, compresses better then most other zip archive creation software. The tradeoff is slightly more cpu intensive creation. You can also produce .7z archives, which beat .RAR (3.50) archives for the filesets they tested against. Because the software is completely free, anyone can download it, and because it's open-source/specification it will always be possible, if even in a worst (and highly unlikely) case you must up-port the code your self, to unpack the data at a later date.
