How old do you have to be to volunteer? Just curious.

To be on staff you have to be 18, but as long as your 16 you can volunteer, there are just limitations on what you'll be able to do.

(all persons named ed take no offense ed is reffering to herself in the thrid person... thats what fridays do to slightly normal people.)

sweet i will so volunteer for you guys yeah i was at con night before and they were setting up game room and i was like hey let my friend and i setup it will be done in 5 minutes they said no and i cried and dided alittle inside  well anyways hmmm ed thanks for joining my ninja's

Volunteers are basically there to help certain things of the convention run smoothly.  You can end up working in several different positions during the convention.  Everything from working a video room, gaming room, to helping control crowds during the main events.
Volunteering also helps if you decide you want to become staff later on.  Making a good impression as a volunteer helps directors recognize your efforts and realize your strengths.

Volunteering is also good way to contribute without missing the convention.
You can sign up to help with stuff during specific hours (like after 2 PM) so that you can be at whatever con events you absolutely can't miss.
That's why I love it so much.
Also you never know, if you volunteer you might get stuff!

they prolly didnt let you help set  up the game room because you werent a vaolunteer for that you had to go to the info desk and offer youself into the kind graces of kumori con staff members... then you sign in blood and sell your soul... or maybe just get a sticker... but any ways... info desk is the way to be!

my other helpful suggestion is that since youve decided to help try to make it to the meeting today in portland... although prolly no ones gunna see this till tomorrow...  :D

I volenteered all 3 days of the con from open to close :) roaming security.  I got assigned to spots for small amounts of time (did i mention counting people entering and leaveing the dealer room is both relaxing and has the ability to drive me INSANE!!) LOL but I was able to go everywhere and see everything :)  and also help out as much as I could :)  and I will do so again next year if they will have me :)

Ahh Man I'm only 15 going on 16 just before the con opens...whaaa... I wanted to Help.....! Oh well I guess I'll just half to wait till next year... *sigh* Damn this sucks :?
