Title: Matching costume with Karaoke song?

This question was asked before, but never got an answer. Is it okay/a big deal if who ever you're cosplaying as during the Idol contest isn't from the same anime as the song your singing? Does it even matter?

In the Idol contest, you are judged more on your singing ability than anything else; the Hybrid contest, it's a mix of singing and performance, so a cosplay can help.. but in both contests, you don't have to cosplay (that's a completly different contest  ;))
