everything is so shiny!
i'm scared......
i woke up with a fever and took some cold meds, is it just me?
i can' tell what posts are new as well as i used to
waaaaaa

Yeah I am having a little trouble getting used to it as well. I mean I trust you guys that it is for the better, it's just that some things that I am used to seeing big as small or hard to find and it shall just take time.
-
I hope you get better soon, Jaz. ♥
I'm also having trouble adjusting. :-\
-
i just wished it still had unread posts highlited like they were before, i mean its neat that it show all unread posts in one area but its hard to tell what area of the forums they are from, cuz i usaly like to make sure to read the general and current events and i dont worry so much about the spam
-
That's a good idea. It would be cool if that link worked for everything except the spam forum. The spam makes it somewhat useless. I will add it to my list of fixes to look for!
-
I could suggest you click the "mark read" button in the subforum index, but I'm not sure whether that solves the problem you're having. :-\
-
i've done that, just what if the spam was yellow so i knew what was junk (not that spam is junk) and what i might want to make sure to read at a glance
-
If it helps, I just noticed that when you click on "show unread posts since last visit" the results tell you the forum they came from in smaller text right after the topic title. I'm not sure if Jeff just ninja haxxored that in but I don't remember seeing that before.
I could make the spam forum title all caps. I'm not sure what else I could do without a mod or some l33t haxxoring skillz. I'll keep looking for mods to help though.

If you have trouble finding the posts that are relevant to you, I recommend using the link that says "Show new replies to your posts" from the main forum index. That restricts it to just new posts in threads that you have previously posted in.

Nah, the only thing I've ninja hax0red into this forum is the redirect so that phpbb topic URLs point to the new same thread in SMF. So far.

its gotten better as my eyes have gotten used to the new look, its still very neat with all the new stuff, but yeah just need to get used it

Ahhhh! What is this blasphemy of a format! I fear change, and am not following this format at all. Im lost in familiar grounds! X_x

Yay!
Though it was rather hard to get used to this layout. At first I thought my computer had just killed k-con. o.o; Anyway, about the only problem I had was with the private messages, I couldn't find the ones I had just received... until I scrolled down. But I've adjusted. ^.^ Erm... yeah, that was my two cents. XP;
EDIT: Actually, I was just reminded of something after I posted this. Why are we sent back to the forum and not the thread after posting? Does this bug anyone else? I guess I just like to triple check my posts to make sure it was sent. ^^;;

SMF was developed by different people and phpBB and they probably assumed more users would rather be sent to the thread list to read another thread rather than double-check their work on their last post. That's the only reason I can come up with. I doubt anyone thought about it very much. Sorry.

go into profile and on the left side it says: "Look and Layout Preferences". there is a check box that says "Return to topics after posting by default." and there u go

This is a user-selectable option (choose "Profile", then "Look and Layout Preferences", then "Return to topics after posting by default.").
EDIT: Sorry, didn't notice this has already been posted, didn't mean to spam :(

Thanks you! ^___^

I just noticed something useful:
If you click on "Show new replies to your posts" and then look for the "Mark all posts as read" button and click it, it will, I believe, take all the topics you've posted in and mark them read. This is very useful if you already use the "new replies to your posts" feature. In fact, if that's the only topic search you use (not including forum indexes), then you can just skip all the other steps.

Hmm. I only lost a few dozen posts. I don't think my status even went down. ;)
Spam is silly, I say!
