Hopfully, we can have a Guilty Gear XX tournament this year, even if I have to organize the thing myself. Guilty Gear could really be considered the most original 2D fighter right now, but would be fine for the Street Fighter / King of Fighter players to pick up. My group has been playing it non-stop for nearly a year now, alot of it hoping to play in a tournament, anywhere, just to play with new people and add to the challange. I want to know how many of our forum goers are fans of this game, and might be ready to test your own skills over the Kumori Weekend!

I am a fan of XX, but probably not as good as those who have been playing it for a year solid... I am more into Street Fighter III: third strike, and maybe there could be a tourney for that as well... But, I'll always try my skills at GG XX! I am also bringing an old skool copy of the original Guilty Gear...

I will bring my ps2 and GGXX #R
#R, for those of you who dont know, is basically an upgrade to XX, which had some serious problems... #R solves a lot of things, balances things out like crazy, and makes XX looks like ass compared to this
After Evolution 2004 (fighting game tournament), the masses are 'officially' switching to #R
as opposed to the year+ that every dedicated GGXX fan has been playing #R...
anyway, yeah, I was hoping to get some #R tourney setup. I just had to play XX in a tourney at Penny Arcade Expo and it was shitty (most of the players would have rather played #R)...

I have the Korean GGXX#R and a PS2 that we can play it on. I'd love to have another tourney, as the one at Sakuracon this year was fun. I only placed fourth, but it's all for fun anyway. Anyway, if anyone's interested, I could do that. Just tell me which day I should bring it in. I'll be dressed up as Remy from SF3.
-
Also, I saw your post on the tournament topic, and I think we should go with 2/3 rather than double elimination. The Sakuracon one was set up that way and it was really fun, and a loser's bracket tends to take forever.

For those of you who haven't played and are curious, Guilty Gear XX is great! I only started playing it while in Japan and I was hooked.
(Except I really, really, really hate Ky) (<-- that's the lightning sword guy, right?)
-
I first learned about the Guilty Gear series by playing XX in japan, and indeed it is/was great.
The sad thing is the sequel is just insanely better, #Reload.
Anyway, #R tourney is definitely gonna be there if I have any say in it, which I guess I sorta do since Ill be one of the gaming room lackeys this time around.
Digital Watches - sup, I was the guy that got 3rd, wooh. GGs.
I would have definitely preferred having a double elim tournament seeing as I would have so totally owned my friend for 2nd. 1st place would have still gone to Mike, however. But really, on only one projector, it takes too long. I'll definitely make sure this year can accomodate things happening in 2 places at once if possible.
And show up to the megagamers thing sometime!
www.megagamers.com for details!
And wtg with the androgynous costumes, lol. "nan nanda, aitsu wa...?"
Oh, and I'm going as Yamazaki / Geese most likely.

love those games

Since Guilty Gear XX #Reload for the PS2 (not X-Box) are not the most easiest to locate, do we need anymore? (aka: should I bring mine up too)?
-
I'd be game to play in a GGXX tourney, even though I would MUCH prefer to play in a Street Fighter type tourney. 'Street Fighter III Third Strike' anyone??? That is my absolute fave fighting game. I like the Guilty Gear games, but I haven't had enough practice with them.

The more japanese/modded ps2s and #R the better... I hope to use mine for KOF Neowave as well if theres a chance for it...
There should be mine and someone elses for certain, but who knows...

RARNOM GET YOUR ASS UP TO THE MEGAGAMER WEEKLIES. We have the best 3s players in the state show up. Also, me and a friend are going for Evolution (www.evo2k.com) and I know hes gonna play a ton of 3s to get ready, and I GGXX #R. And the game has been out for like 3 years, and have been playing it for 3 years straight, so youve got a long ways to go.
Even in 3s. Good competition means a lot for fighting games, unless you definitely know how genejin owns you, and so does cr.mk into SA2.
