I've a couple folks who'll CosPlay for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya but only if there is a major TMoHS Dance event. Is anyone thinking of such a thing? Anyone have the music?
Like? This! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okeq0uuldy0&mode=related&search=
Look fun?
My daughter was in this same place in the video the very day prior! She is a sad puppy. (They flew home 4/8.) However, she had a great time touring Japan. So it's all good.

There should be!! lol, I memorized the dance just for fun, but I probably won't finish my haruhi costume until next year for sakuracon 08. you should suggest the giant dance to someone in charge of events lol. it'd be like a minute long event but it would be soo sweet to see everyone.
music can be easy enough to get.
-
I have the song handy. :3 TV cut to fit the dance too.
However, I've yet to master the dance. :?

I heard a rumor (and for me, that's like, one sentence) that someone wanted to do that at the convention.
There is going to be a ballroom dancing panel so I think that we should definitely have a panel where people learn this dance. Then they can all go perform in the park across the street and get it on video.
I'll bring this up when I next talk to Programming. To make sure we have the materials if one of you fills out the paperwork to get the panel slot.
Just to be clear, I'm not teaching people to dance. XD
-
Oooh! That's a good idea. I'd love to learn/do the dance, but there's no way I would sit in front of the computer learning it on my own. If we had a panel where one person who knew it taught it to the group, that'd be super-cool!

So.... can we get your signature on a panelist form? :D

lol I don't know the dance myself xD
but I remember hearing about a few on here that could.
I just meant that I'd love to join in. I'd be willing to help learn with a few others in the area or something ahead of time and help at the con if there are a few others willing to join in and learn, as well~*
-
I just finished making my Haruhi Suzumiya costume and want to try the dance. I don't know the steps, but would love to learn. If someone could help teach it to me (over the next few months) I could run the panel with that person. :D I think it would be amusing to plan to do the dance at a random time, like during the dance, or as an opener at the start of some big event (cosplay????)
So, who KNOWS the dance and can teach it??? :D
-
i just bought the first dvd and i've seen the dance vids i'd try running it with you if you want
-
looky what I found!
mirror, tv size ending, full dance version.. slowed down to where you can practice! ... and it's kinda funny too haha!

My friend and I both know almost all of the dance~ We both just can't get the very end @.@ ::{too fast....}:: We should both know all of it by the time the con rolls around :3
-
how about setting up a pratice at the next meeting?
too bad negima isn't going to be around he did this dance at the last envelpe stuffing
we pratice make okay!
-
Ooh, that's me! The Noh-Face knows how to rock it, Hare Hare Yukai style!
-
Oh, someone with a good printer, print out the dance steps from
http://www.sos-dan.com/dance/index.html
That's a site that shows the dance steps in pictures. :D
It may be much easier to learn from. And we do need someone to bring a boombox with the music on it. :D
This'll be fun.
-
Oh! I'd like to join in xD
I've been wanting to learn it ever since I saw the preview in japan >__<;;
-
oh this should be interesting. Dreamcatchers performed that dance at sakura and then bandai is having a dance contest at anime expo.
-
One more good reason to buy a video camera before Kumo!
-
I just bought the first box set, and it came with the CD. So I have CD, now just gotta find something to play it on. So I'll probably be lugging something around to play the music. Gotta inspire random dancing at the convention! =D

did it come with the hair ribbon? wahh i realy wanted it but i just ot the regular vol one stoopid moving expences
-
Ah, yes, it did come with the hair ribbon, to my surprise. It also had a pencil board, CD, iron on for clothing, and of course: lots of gorgeous box art. This is one of the boxes I've been most happy to purchase. I think if you ever can, you should get it. ^___^

omg, I'd love to help teach the dance! xD

TMoHS dance party is on the schedule... It's going to happen at same time as AMV competition, so you have to choose between the two. :(
I'll be dancing anyway... Oh, and we can figure out when we want to have a random group of TMoHS dancers jump up and dance.... :)
-
Naw! :'( :'( That's sad.
>__< ... I'll also dance. :D
-
agh... dance or AMV contest... dance or AMV contest... @__@
I... I-I wanna dance.... but... AMV contest... I hope I can mysteriously manage two at the same time but that sounds unlikely. I think I'd rather try the dance because it puts a new spin on con traditions
-
my friend and i have been practicing this dance, and having a big ol' dance of it would be fun! we're not in TMoHS cosplay but it'd be fun nonetheless. x3 i'd have to see what everyone else wants to do, but yeah, i'd be game to try this!
-
If you're in other cosplay, it'll be funnier. :D
