The June general meeting will be held at the convention site at the Hilton in Vancouver on Saturday, June 16th. All time and location information, directions, etc, is available on the main page.
Are there any questions about the meeting or recommendations for agenda items to discuss at the meeting?
-
Hmm, I don't think I can go to this one. (I might not be coming to the con this year but I can still hang out, right?)
That's Graduation day over on campus and, unless I'm suddenly graduating again, there's no way I'm going to be able to get out of work.
Hopefully I can make it to the next meeting.

I believe it would be a good idea to discuss what suites will be used by the convention itself. Last year (the layout was horid, but also) there were staff who didn't know where Ops was at the end of the first day. There are two primary suites at the Hilton and I think it would be good for people to know which was which at the very least.
I also think a practical test of the hotel's closed network would be good so we can see how well non-wireless computers can hook up to both the internet and each other. This would require cable of course, but also access given by the Hilton themselves.
The only other thing that comes to mind (other than questions I'll compile and send up the chain to the liason) is a test of the radios. From top to bottom and end to end. I'm concerned about the garage area, where at least 5 staff will be at all times.

That's the weekend after finals for me, but they want me on jury duty. As of now, I have no money, but if I can get a ride, I will go.

The main thing I'm waiting to hear is whether we have negotiated to have online access in panel rooms, because it affects how we run fanfic and art contests and some panels at Creation Station.
It sounds like most things are progressing quite well this year.
-
The only thing that would keep me from this meeting would possibly be my moving situation. I hope it doesn't, though.
-
wow I could goto this, does one have to be staff to come?

Well, our meetings are in the panel rooms, and we've always been able to get online. So I'm guessing that unless we ask them to turn it off, the network will be available. I'm actually puting together a series of material and technical questions for Ops and the Facilities Liason so I will add that to my list to be thorough.

ok thanks
-
Yeah, it's confirmed. I can't go as I am working that day. >.<
-
We'll try to make time to discuss what's been recommended so far. Are there any other items that you think should be discussed at the general meeting? Don't be shy ;D

as I understood things, I had thought pocky club is now officially staff.
-
I think that Pocky Club is all volunteers except for Tom, who is their staff coordinator.

Eh heh heh.....
Pocky club has become officially associated with Kumoricon this year because we were formally asked to be part of the convention in 2007. As the President/Founder of Pocky club I amd actually the only member with an official position. Every other member of Pocky Club is a volunteer.
Since a person volunteering to work for Pocky Club will need to help us, we discouraged and even banned Kumoricon Staff from joining Pocky Club so that we would not interfere with their staff responsiblities. The "no-staff sentiment got a bit out of hand the first year and has since been repealed. Most staff who happen to be members of Pocky Club are only asked to help under very specific situations that I handle personally.
If Pocky Club does get more official staff members I will let you all know and be sure that they register appropriately.

So... I once again can't make it to the meeting... *sigh*
I'm leaving for California on the same day to visit my Dad... so yah..
cool hope you have a nice trip! what part of Cali?
-
I won't be able to make this meeting for a few things.
1) My ride is at work. (i.e. my sister XD)
2) My friend is throwing a grad party and I'm invited. ._.
So...without a ride and my parents not wanting to drive me out there, I'm stuck going to the party. :3
Also... I'm graduating tomorrow! WOO!
-
yup we voleenters not staff
i come pretty close, but have held out
chris and i both have honoray staff rank tho :3
chris reacts like a cat to water when he thinks of becoming staff

I've been kind of sick over the last week, and I mis-posted this into the corrections for last month's meeting.
I've had a death in the family, and we're all getting together this weekend to do to the service and do the family thing. I'm sorry for missing it, especially since I missed the last one, but I just can't sneak away for 6 hours and expect them not to notice.
-
well there is always next month setsuna, remember family comes first.

Hey there,
New to the board, but I went to the con last year and have been asked to run a workshop in the Creation Station. I am going to try to get to the meeting, but I'm new (ish) to the area, and don't know how to navigate from downtown Portland to the convention center via public transport.
Anybody got room for me and the girl in their car, and/or good directions on how to get there?
Thanks!

You can map it on the trimet website but you will want to get to the 7th stree transit center via I think bus 6? please verify that though and then from there you walk to esther shore park which is like 2 blocks away and the hilton will be on your lefthand side

So I don't get lost where in the hotel is this meeting located tomorrow? Ugh never mind something came up this morning and I won't be able to make this meeting. I guess I shall see you all at next months meeting. Sorry.

*waves his arms frantically and everything of that sort!*
When's the Third Tier badge stuffing gonna be? That was fun. XD
-
Tier 3 envelope stuffing is the same weekend as the next meeting. That's what they said Saturday at least.
This meeting was very busy, lots of stuff going on. Too much in fact, I couldn't hear half the meeting because Programming was chatting up a storm and being loud.
I had a bunch of questions to bring up to Operations and the Hotel Liason but neith of those Executives were there so it was pretty light for me, I ended up just going over the layout with the new registration staff. We've got some good computer guys interested in the web-system for the database and getting all the computers online.
Now I just have to email the departments my lists of questions and "demands".
the biggest news for me was that I am in charge of the Hall Cosplay contest, which means Pocky Club memebers have a new job! Glad I didn't send out the next newsletter yet!
