Sakuracon....was it in Oregon? I thought the Kum. was the first eva con here...in ghetto state usa...

Kumoricon is the first in Oregon. Sakuracon is located in the Tacoma/Seattle area in Washington.

Sakuracon is also quite a few years older!
Kumoricon is growing at what seems to be the same rate.
The scheme is that Sakuracon will continue to be the MAJOR con and Kumoricon will be the smaller more personable convention that the Sakuracon people come to to relax.
As much as I think Kumoricon should succeed, I think that it's better that way. It's Portland and Oregon style.

Umm, actually, if Kumori Con grows at the same scale that it is currently, Sakura Con will become the smaller Con. There is no place in Washington that is better for the Con than where it is now, so it's going to get stuck at the 4000 size. ^.^
There are decent convention centers in Portland that say otherwise for Kumori Con. ^.^

If you look year by year, we're doing pretty good
Sakura Year 1, 313 people
Sakura year 2, 553 people
Sakura Year 3, 866 people
Sakura Year 4, 1519 people
Sakura Year 5, 2328 people
Kumoricon Year 1, aprox 500 people (in a town of 1/4 million rather than Seattle sized!
Kumoricon Year 2, we will have a prereg total of about 500, and expect the total number of attendees to be between 800 and 1200 people.
I'd say we are very much on track to becoming a second major convention in the area! Many of us are involved in both and kind of consider ourselves "sister conventions" even though no official agreement exists.
