The dates for all upcoming meetings have been posted to the main page. Please note that while we've done our best to avoid local cons, Sakura-con meetings, and events, things do come up. :) All of these dates are tentative, except for February and March.
February 10, 2007
2pm-5pm
Eugene, OR
Exact Location TBD
This is the ONLY Eugene meeting. Eugeneites, please recruit your friends!! We'd love to see some new faces at the meeting.

^_^ It'll be very cool to see you again too, Rachael!!!
This is why I love my K-con... meetings are like family reunions... only you like most of the people you're going to spend an afternoon with. *L*

But ware is it? It’s probably to late now but there is a Chinese restaurant around the corner from me that is always empty, every time I go in for dinner I’m like the ONLY one in there. I was thinking last week we could all fit in there and I'd only have to leave work 5 min before the meeting

This is still being worked out and will be posted on the front page and on the calendar the moment we have it confirmed.
-
I've been recruited to teach some people how to sew, so I can only be there for about an hour. If I can stay through the main meeting I will, and I know that this kind of bites being as I am actually in Eugene, but I've got a 50% off coupon that expires at 5 on Saturday and my opera friend can't meet me until noon. See y'all Saturday!

Actually it's at the DIVA, Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts, 110 West Broadway, Broadway & Olive.
BTW that's like 1 block from the bus station, & also within a block or two are a couple parking garages that are free on weekends. There's one at like 8th & Olive (Broadway is the equivalent of 9th), and another at like Broadway & Charnelton or so (which is 1 block west of olive).
There are meters right in front, but hard to get that time of day on a weekend, & very highly patrolled for ticketing!
It's there because Marianne from Copic (sponsor of the Creation Station art contests) is running a Manga Character Drawing for Teens workshop there--totally worth it, if anyone can afford it (check the link from the front of the website). Marianne is awesome, & Copics are ideal for folks working on manga art (they are even used by CLAMP). I was going to be refilling markers for her during the meeting & this is like total serendipity :)
It's a great location for us to consider using in the future, for anything in Eugene, because it's high-visibility, has its own website & advertising structure & audience & volunteers, is very bus & parking accessible, & is totally art themed. Like if we ever wanted to have our own kind of little mini art event, or something. Or a local benefit or something.
And it's a gallery, if there were art or something we wanted to display...though I'm not sure if you have to be a member to display art there.
The layout of the place might not be the ultimate best for having several breakout meetings at the same time, though. There's kind of an office nook in the front where one group could meet, then the rather big central room where I've attended my friends' noise shows, then there's the "green room" that could be used. & a couple bathrooms. i think that's it....unless there's more i just couldn't access during concerts....
Marianne was a gem for hooking us up with this space...Be sure to thank her, & check out her class & info if you get a chance! I'm personally hoping to refill some markers for her at the meeting myself :)
For those looking for an after spot to hang out in, I recommend Cozmic Pizza, just about 2 blocks away at 8th & Charnelton. It has both free wifi and also an internet cafe for like $3/hr, as well as decent food at reasonable prices. {edit} Oh and also an espresso bar.
For those looking for more Asian-themed food & not needing the net, check out Lotus Garden, kitty corner from Cozmic Pizza, also at 8th & Charnelton. It is a Chinese restaurant with vegetarian versions of mainstream meat Chinese foods, & one of the best restaurants in Eugene!

Don't tell Marianne I was using her Copic markers to draw on leather and make emblems at the con but now i'm gonna add making patches and emblems for an anime uniform to my panel

I'm bad with street names so I can't quite remember which ones those are but there are the Downtown Athletic Club parking structure and another one across the street from the Hult Center.

I'd also like to recommend Misako's. Great Japanese food and it's a short walk from DIVA.
Oh yeah, and I can make it to this meeting. ^_^

Reina, there will be an envelope stuffing for badges tomorrow. If you're available and would like to help out, we'll be meeting at the PGE Park Max Stop Sunday at noon in Portland.
If you have time between now and 11 am tomorrow, please email me at valliegirl@gmail.com to confirm with me, so I know to look for you.
Thanks!! ^_^

so...what did I miss? anyone got the meeting minutes?
-
More like seconds.
Registration glitches have been fixed.
Ops needs mooks.
Programming needs minions.
Publicity needs writers.
Mars needs women.... no wait, that was something else.
The Directors went over what positions they needed filled but nobody came forward at the meeting. I sat over with Programming and listened to them swap information I mostly had already and we defined some things as far as panels and locations go. Brenda made some declarations about this year's cosplay contest and what she would be allowing after last years OD on yaoi and the Moose Knuckle Incident.
Jeff went into some detail about who he needed. A Press manager specifically and a few writers for the newsletter. He also needs writers to work with his graphic artists and come up with material to put in the booklets at other conventions and magazines. Finally, once he has writers he'd like a person to oversee them in an editorial manner.
I don't know what the other directors were talking about the whole time. Staze was sitting over there with Meg, Jeff, and Duncan. He's the Secretary so ask him.

"Moose Knuckle Incident"?!? Dare I ask what that was? I'm not sure I noticed that... ( it may have happened when we judges were concentrating on getting all the paperwork organized ) :)
