But no PS3. On a budget, eh? I must say I am disappointed! I was really hoping to play a WWII FPS next summer! =P
I wonder what kind of games we will see on the Wiis for the convention besides Wii sports. Maybe we will see some music games and fighters released by then? I dunno, just me posting random stuff.
-
so they bought one for the con? sweet! they are pretty resonalbly priced
-
According to the front page, they bought five Wiis.
-
X3 Do you get a free cat for every 5 wiis?
-
waffles has a wii and his favorite con does also its destiny!
-
They should have gone with us we had 2 left over in the end. It was really organized everyone was really nice except this group in the back got asked to leave. People showed up really slowly too which was really nice. Of course we had to be first in line ^.^'

We tried for PS3s. We were prepared to buy 2 at launch. On Thursday night, we tried at least 10 different stores and of the ones where lines were allowed to form, they had done so, and every "slot" (expected unit) had been filled by a person in line for at least a full day prior, in many cases more days. This means we would have needed to wait in line for nearly 48 hours or probably more.
At the stores where lines were not allowed to form early, due to massive crowds (literally 500+ people gathering), stores were forced to do raffles to avoid stampedes and injuries. We participated in a couple of these raffles, but, not surprisingly, lost.
Sorry, it wasn't about the budget, but time spent standing in line. :) We did it for Wiis but the demands for PS3s were just too much.
-
Kewl! I'll have to head to vidoe game rooms this year  !
Since I won't be getting one (I could not stand in line that long, and I'm 99% broke :( ) I'm waiting the video store by my house to get one to rent. I'm so excited! So how are the Wiis, for those of you that have used them?
-
WII KICKS ARSEEE
-
I'm getting two ideas here
There should be a race game like pole position with all 5 drivers linked and as the in room announcer is saying gentlemen start your Wii, a race girl waving a checkered flag (I found such flag today)
There should be a flying race game and some one dressed as a stewardess should say
“In the event of a water landing your Wii will not work as a flotation device”
“Please keep both hands on your Wii at all times”

Well, I was only kidding about the PS3s. I still haven't seen anything impressive on the system. But hey, maybe we will see some actual multiplayer games by 2030 (excluding EA sport games)? @_@

Those of you who can't wait to play - staff will get to try out the Wiis at the holiday party on the 17th of December.
If you were planning on being staff, but hadn't had the opportunity to sign up yet, contact personnel@kumoricon.org to see about signing up. We may be able to make you official at the holiday party if you've already got the okay from a director. This will be easiest if you were staff last year, or a very visible volunteer.

I have a question about the Wii.
What games are available, & what kind of games are they?
-
How do you pronounce that? WEEEEEEE?
-
Gonads and Strife.
-
It's called the Revolution

I'm glad someone still reads the main site :D
We tried for the PS3s, even after considering the first units are likely to be buggy, and there are no decent launch games for them. (Okay, maybe Resistance, but how many other shooters are currently available on every other system?) But not getting any PS3s turned out to be a good thing because we were able to get the con more Wiis than we probably could have otherwise.
I think this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii) or at least a page linked to it lists the launch titles for Wii. I'm personally looking forward to Zelda (who isn't?), Red Steel, Trauma Center, and Call of Duty 3. I'm crossing my fingers that Smash Bros will be out before the con.
-
Smash Bros, like most of the other big name franchises, are scheduled to come out in March.
I'll probably get the new Zelda game on the GameCube, Christmas being in a month and all that. I wonder how Trauma Center works on the Wii. Do you use the Wii on the TV screen or what? I wonder how different it is from the DS game.
-

Probably the same gameplay, with the click-and-drag setup for removing and applying things and all that.
-
yay wii have wii to play with i hope wii have fun when wii play wii together
-
that made my head hurt... :)
-
Gonads and Strife.
Is that a game, or how you pronounce the name of the system?
-
Gonads and Strife.
In the lightning!
In the lightning!
In the rain!
<.<

I feel out of the loop. o.o

Yeah, it's pronounced Weeeeee so you can imagine the jokes that were made soon after the name was announced.
Personally with the game Trauma Center I'd be too tempted just to go crazy with that game.
"Now I just need to make a small cut along this organ without damaging anythi- ah forget it. WEEEEEEEEE!!"
*Cuts out kidney, liver, and 2/3 of the gall bladder*

This was one of the Penny Arcade comics (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/04/28) I am always recalling because of every time I hear the name "Wii".
-
that made my head hurt... :)
then my work here is done i can now go home to my home planet
(no really i from earth)

my friend bought mario 64 for the wii (with those wii money things) and its very sexy. and twilight princess = pwnsauce
-
I like the picture of the Wiis on the front page with the random cat just sitting there.
-
the cat is trying to get into the wii action!!!!!
WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WIIIIIIIIIIIII
anyways happy wii day to all that has one.

I love my Wii. Played a TON of Twilight Princess. Also got Trauma Center; it's a fun title. It'll really wrack your nerves at times! Wii Sports is really fun and campy title. Bowling is awesome. So is golf. Still unable to get extra controllers for multi player tennis. :(
I spent some Wii Points to get Mario 64. Even though I own it on N64 somewhere.. and on the DS. But dammit, I wanted to play it on my 32" and not my 3" DS screen.
When 2 great things combine (Kumoricon and Wii), it must surely be a good thing.

I've got two questions.
1.) Is Mario 64 in higher res and all that? Ya know, kind of like the N64 Zeldas are on the GameCube.
2.) How does Trauma Center work on the Wii? I've seen how it plays on the DS, and it looks neat (if not a little gross), but the Wii version confuses me. I should probably look at some videos and all that, but I'd still like to see some feedback from people who have the game. ^_^

I know with trama center u have to use the nunchuck and have a VERY steady hand
guess I cant play
(years of caffine overload and carpal tunnel = hands shake all the time)

the Hentai is not in his body. the excitment of finding hentai is in his head and causing a psycho somatic responce in his hands

Care to disclose the Wii Codes for the Kumoricon Wiis? (The Wii Code is the code that works like the DS Friend Codes).
-
I keep hearing that the boxing in Wii Sports gives a pretty good workout. I'm looking forward to playing that.
Also, for you Colbert fans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFixIFgcYks)...

I do believe Mario 64 is running in higher res. Don't quote me on that though.
Also, Trauma Center works well on the Wii. You use the Nunchuk to select your tools and (left, right, up, down and diagonal comprising the tools). You cut people open, use the Wiimote like a pair of forceps (squeezing the A and B-trigger button like you would squeeze a real pair of forceps). The defibrillator is a little confusing though.. of course maybe it's because I was lying on my back at the time.

...But please, be careful with that new Wii! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da1Gh4kH-o8)(youtube)
