I was wondering if anybody could recommend any decent anime/manga stores in either portland or salem? Also is there any online stores that you would recommened that give good deals and maybe even free shipping?
Thanks

amazon.con is usually pretty decent. They give you free shipping on orders over a certain monetary ammount as well.

For manga I usually go to Borders...they have anime DVDs there, too.
The Suncoast that closed here - Oh, I miss it. It was a DVD and Pocky heaven xD
There are two Borders in Salem, by the way - Borders Express in Salem Center and one on Lancaster, the latter being much bigger and a little more organized.
...And you can preorder manga there. I did it with MeruPuri. =]
Edit - How did I forget Uwajimaya/Kinokuniya in Beaverton? D:
They have manga in Japanese, too.

I have never found better prices on anime at retailers compared to online. Occassionally, you'll find a good deal at some place like the downtown Everyday Music across from the Chrystal Ballroom on Burnside, but for the most part, you're far better off buying "nearly new" discs from amazon.

if you are in the market for posibly used disk check the places that deal in used Cd's and DVD. I think CD exchange is a chain store we have one in Eugene and I if you keep looking you can find stuff that is only out a month and at half price (I assume some one gets gifts they dont want or shoplift it and sell it for 1/4 face value to the stores)

Yes, Borders is a great place for manga. If they don't have it, you can order it and get it a little bit later. The one at the Vancouver Mall has this girl that will even order manga printed in the original Japanese, because that's the only manga that she likes.
I do like Suncoast for my anime, too. Almost all of the anime I own I got from there.
Uwajimaya is a great place for almost anything Asian.

I always have great luck finding manga at Powell's. The main store, anyway, haven't found much at any of the branches.

I am leaving for CHINA in a few hours, but I arranged a one-night mini stopover in Tokyo on my return. ANIME SHOPPING SPREE! WHEEEEEE!
Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!
And a bottle of lychee liqueur, called 'DITA' of all things!
(For all you VANDREAD fans out there...)
GAMERS (home of DiGi Carat!) Cospa - yee-ha!
(looks at wall clock) OK - Gotta go!

While not quite as cool as actually going to Japan ( :( ) I often hear that Fry's will have some really good deals on anime. I recommend checking them out. They are in Wilsonville, south of Portland on I-5.

I find they have VERY decent prices on anime dvds and misc stuff on yahoo auctions, it is less popular than e-bay so you can usually find a better deal!
