Title: 2006 Karaoke Contest: Audition Info
Post by: Jamiche on August 26, 2006, 12:40:24 am
Okay guys, here's the list of contestants pre-registered for the karaoke contests.  All sign-ups recieved were accepted.  A couple of forms need additional information (e-mails were sent asking for the info) - if that information is not provided by sign-up you will not be allowed to participate in the contest.

To compete in the contest, you need to sign a waiver (form is here (http://www.kumoricon.com/?page_id=58), scroll down towards bottom of the page.)  If you do not submit a signed waiver, you will not be allowed to participate in the contest.  Minors need to have their PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN sign the form.  If they will not be at the convention, make sure you have them sign it beforehand.

Auditions start at 2:00 pm on Saturday - sign-in will start at 1:30.  All contestants must be at the auditions.  You don't need to be there the entire time, but you do need to be there for your turn.

You will need to bring to the karaoke room:
Your badge and signed waiver form;
Your contest music CD (you must provide an audio CD);
Your song lyrics, if you are using them.  We do not provide lyrics for the contest.

* If you are competing in both contests, you only have to audition once.  Please let me know at sign-in if you don't want to audition as a single.

If you have a conflict with the auditions at con and need to change your audition time, please let me know.

Heyas, I'm actually wondering what happened to my name? (Desiree Lovel)
I was under the impression that I was able to enter both idol & hybrid. So I entered for both.  But I'm only listed once, with my friend Amanda.

yukimizu - the rules state you can compete in both contests, but you only have to audition once.  I've modified the list, but if you decide you don't want to audition twice, please let me know at sign-in.

jupiter13_00 - sorry, my typo.  All fixed  8)

since my songs are tv sized, they're only about a minute and a half long, and I don't have a minute skit planned out. Is that ok? Thankees!

How will we know if we made it into the actual contest....??

That makes more sense. Sorry to be trouble. I didn't understand that you only audition once, even if you're performing in both. I was confused.
I think I'll just audition once then with my friend. (I'm so much trouble. sorry)

TohmaSeguchi - I guess I'm not really sure about your question.  You don't necessarily need a -skit-, but for the hybrid performance is half your score.  Can you PM me and sxplain what you had in mind?  Or catch me before the auditions and we can chat.

yukimizu - no worries, no trouble.  I'm here to answer questions (when I have answers)  :D

After the audtions are over, I will be posting the list for contests.  I will try to give you guys a time at the auditions.

So. Let me see if I've got this right.
We pretty much show up at 1:30 and sign in, and then we get told what time our audition is?

I'd like to change my audition time to as early as possible, as well! My name's [Moderator: redacted], so if you could do that, I'd really appreciate it.

And, I have one more question--the auditions are the day before the hybrid contest, and I have a specific costume for the hybrid contest, but it'll take a bit of time to get into (makeup and such). Will it affect my audition if I don't wear the entire costume to the audition? It's just that it'll be a serious pain to get done up the day before as well, especially when I have other costumes I want to wear around the con.

Okay, slight problem.  I am hopefully gonna get into the Karaoke contest.  If I do, the Karaoke contest starts at 8pm, but the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament doesn't end until about 8:30pm.  If I'm in the finals of the SSBM tourney, is there a way to designate when I perform?  Like put me near the end?  I really want to do both.

SephiChan - I've changed your audition to the earlier block.  Sign-ins start at 1:30, which is when you turn in your music, final song selection, and waiver form.  Auditions will go in the order listed above, and start at 2:00pm.  Don't worry about not being in costume for the hybrid contest during the audition, it won't affect the final selection.

DMStudios - talk to me at the auditions, I'm sure we can work something out if you are in the final list for the contest  8)

A couple of quick things:

Audition order has been modified.

The contest waiver has been added to the forms page here (http://www.kumoricon.com/?page_id=58) (scroll down towards the bottom of the page).  You will need to have turn in this form at sign-in.  If you do not have this form, you will not be allowed to participate in the contest, no exceptions.  Minors, be sure to have a parent or legal guardian sign it for you.

ummmm.... I hate to be a pain, but is there any way that I can audition sometime within the two 'o clock hour, preferably alittle after two???  I wasn't sure in the schedule when I signed up, but the room I'm volunteering in has somethin' that I should be there to help with at 1:30 to 2.... ^^;; If that's not possible, I totally understand, but it would be much appreciated!!! -^^-

Nevermind, got my printer fixed. Do I need to bring two forms, one for me solo and one for me as a group(this sounds so stupid, but I gotta ask)?

yukimizu - we only need one waiver form per person, so you don't need to do it twice.

BlackJack - at con sign-ups will audition in the group 3 slot, but talk to me at sign-in and we will see if we can figure out something that will work for you.

Will there be a printer at the convention?  I don't have a working printer at the moment, so I was wondering if I could print my waiver at the convention and sign it there.  Is it possible?

Hey there--

Sorry, but do you mind removing Sivan Fintzy/Elaine Akamian from the list?
We decided not to participate, we're not well planned enough D:

Thanks.
