I asked in the past about an IRC, but because people might mouth off or say innaporpriate things, people said that it was best not to, because people might associate that with the convention.

But in the forums, we are able to remove any insulting or degrading comments, and properly reprimand the offender.

I'll ask about it at the web redesign meet.
