I strive for Pocky Club to be not only a fun way to give Pocky to your friends and promote cosplay, but also for us to be informative on the subject of our favorite snack.
To that end, and in the hopes that it will give mem ore material for my panel, I have created this thread to find out what all of you want to know about Pocky. I have a crack team of researchers and translators in the wings to help me delve into the mysteries of Pocky. So go ahead and

If you go to the Pocky Club panel, you may get free pocky, it really matters if you play duck duck goose. ;) Pocky Club is charitable, but we aren't gonig to give out pocky to every single person who asks for it. We would be paying for almost everyone at the conventions snacks... Box of Pocky, say, 2 bucks and lets say 500 people want pocky? That's alot of money. Pocky CLub is a donation run organazation. If you feel charitable, please feel free to donate a few bucks. The way pocky club works is we have a panel and we advertise what we do. That is we make the convention expeirnce better by giving you pocky. At the panel we answer questions and play duck duck goose... and basicly goof around for an hour, enjoying each others company. You can pick up a Pocky Club request form, in which you put your name, the person who you want glompe'd name (It can be anyone as long as we know a name, and we have consent to glomp if you want us to glomp them, you don't have to be glomped if you want to.) You put what you both look like, a contact number, weither it be a hotel room or a cellphone number, and what flavor of pocky you'd like, along with a few survey questions.
Although, we have limitations, all forms gotta be turned in by that Night so that we can deliver on Sunday Morning to Mid day, and we ask that you limit one pocky club delivery to one, unless you'd like to donate. :3 (You can't ask us to give your friend 24 pocky club orders or whathaveyou.) You cannot give a pocky club request to yourself. :)

hey pocky club member i just donated a doller and put in orders for my sister an I to be glomped with pocky at noon on the last day of the con and its an hour later and wheres are pocky?!
first you dont put in for your self but for friends, its not a way to get cheep pocky, second by noon the last day of con, people are already going home and it wrap up time not new order time.

Yeah, like last year, I think people were still trying to get Pocky Club requests in on Monday. x_x I think there were confused because of the pocky club party thing goin' on across the street in the park.
You have to put your oder form in beofre we have our meeting late on Saturday night to decide who's glomping who and such. They will be delivered on Sunday from about 9am-1pm ish.

What do Pocky Club members do?

OK, here are some of the responsibilities/benefits of being a member of Pocky Club.
Spreading Happiness, Joy, and world peace through cosplay and pocky.
Delivering Pocky to people.
Being friendly.
Escorting Pocky Delivery Agents.
Taking orders for deliveries.
Trying out new and exotic flavors of pocky like Green Tea, Choco-Banana, and Pine Cream. Not to mention Fran.
Attending important events like Kumoricon meetings and the Pocky Club panel.
Helping out fellow pocky club members with their costumes and convention plans.
Spend time at the convention table helping the club run smoothly.
Club members are not required to do any of this of course, we are a volunteer organization funded by donations and hugs. We are completely dependant on the members' willingness to help out for us to get anything done. Due to the success of our operations last year I only expect more delivery requests this year, in fact I already have a few!
Basically, if you like to cosplay, you aren't afraid of glomping people, and you like Pocky- Pocky Club is for you!

^_^ Panda-kun didn't live in OR either, he lived in Tacoma.
You don't have to live in OR, although it's easier to go to the Pocky Club events and Kcon Geneal Meetings, but if you show up at the Pocky Club panel on Saturday, or before then at the convention and talk to Tom(thefanboy) I'm pretty sure anyone could be a member.

I can't say anything about keeping spammers out of the forum, other than a slight annoyance with the lack of 'no no's. Before we had the "omg, I'm posting on the intarnets ftw chuck norris jokes' part of the forum, it was like "No 3 word stories, posting something about the person above you game, ect," and now, (I have talked to two other forum members that I met at Uwajimaya that fel the same way about the person, who will remain nameless) it's like, "Run freeee." The person replies to topics with "haha, no way. lol" and such, adding nothing to the conversation, and they had posted, 33 posts in about... two or so days? I think that we should have a little tighter rules about replying to topics with a megere 3-4 word sentance.

didn't get carried off by an over zeliouse cosplayer so tom wouldnt have to buy them back later.

I know what you mean, I meant the bot spammers though. The ones who come in and try to advertize viagra, dating services, porn, whatnot undesirable stuff.
But yes, I'd like to know how to deal with those sorts of spammers too. I'm stumped for a way to politely explain to them how they are annoying others while not discouraging them from potentially becoming a contributing participant.

You can be a member of Pocky Club without even coming to the convention! All you need to do is email pockyclub@gmail.com and I'll put you on the mailing list. I send out newsletters about every other month (sometimes more) and I try and keep everyone up to date when it comes to club meetings and plans. Sometimes people even reply!

When peopel sign up, do we have the "please verify thse letters and numers" thing, like when you sign up for an e-mail account? I don't remember... But i think someone already sugested that.
I think that telling them polietly could be hard... Like, I know that some people would take it into offense and decide not to take the adivce... If it continues I guess I could send them a poliet PM. :3

Actually no, one of our rules actually specifies that only one person to a glomp. I'll make sure to put the list in the next newsletter.
vondan, I'll see what I can do about the aunts. However, bribing people to get glomped is against the spirit of Pocky Club. The Pocky we deliver is supposed to be a gift from one person to another, you're not supposed to pay people for gifts (this isn't the governement after all). If violations of our ethos are found then we can have you put on the No Glomp List.
I doubt there'll be any problems getting people to send you pocky though man, you're cool. You've got enough friends on the forums that SOMEONE is bound to send some Pocky your way. If you don't get a chance at our panel, then I'll make sure somebody comes by your booth to gateher information for our Listing.

actauly i'm going to be looking for a new job because joannes as a job sucks heres what happend
my boyfriend was in a car wreak last thursday,he lives in tigard i work in gresham, and i really wanted to see him and make sure he was okay but i had a 430 to 930 shift on friday that i couldnt get out of so i went to work worked it and the manager was like "can you stay 15 more minuts ?" i was like i need to catching the last bus to tigard so i can see my boyfriend who was in a car acident the day before (2 bus ride btw)
the next week i was looking at my sceadual and 2 shift had been erased and i only had 5 hours, i talked to the manger and she said she needed people who could stay that extra 15 so every one else wasnt stuck there longer so yeah, i'm being docked hours becuase i wouldnt stay 15 more min because i had to catch the las bus that went to tigard so i could see my boyfriend who was in a car acident the day before.
really, and this was the only time i'd ever not stayed late, becase i do and come in early if they call me
anywho i'm looking for a new job, and Vondan you go to joannes have you ever noticed the silver scissors pin that some workers have those are cut above awards for great customer service and yeah i have six
happy not hes alright and the acident was rule entirely the other persons fault :)

aye. each employee by law can not be forced to work more then their scheduled shift.
if you are scheduled 8am-5pm you are given 1 hour for lunch (some will only go 30) and 2 15 minute breaks OR 3 10's depending on how companies play it.
anything outside of that is fluff at your own kind heart.

OK, since I will not be at the eugene meeting unless I magically get a car and free gas, I am designating Neko_Chan tom-for-a-day. Hopefully she'll live up to the title and bring plenty of Pocky for everybody to have. Maybe not too much though, since the meeting is at a very good buffet that will make you EXPLODE if you eat too much. Nekochan will also be representing Pocky club since, as of yet, we have no members in Eugene.
That is.......unless Negima joined up...... (wonders about his mailing list since he can't actually check right now)....

I dont know anythng about it either but i'm using it as a challenge to make Ammo pouches to fit a box of Pocky annd leather Pocky Chucks. When I make a bandoleer of Pocky Pouches you have just elected yourself to wear them as part of the costume for the Pocky Bandito and say "Pocky, I dont need no stinking Pocky"

Pocky can go from zero to awesome in- OMG it's done!
Pocky tastes great and it's a Japanese snack that isn't too crazy and that people can buy just about everywhere. It is to anime fandom (or otakudom) what the "live long and prosper" hand sign is to trekkies.
If you love anime, you've had pocky.
It's something that gathers people together and helps make new friends.
That's what Pocky Club is all about. Making friends and having fun....while munching on Pocky.
Oh, and ruki can be Pocky Princess Ru, that's cool.

I just got my first box of pocky and I just ate it. It is Chocklet in the red 3.53 Oz box. Is that a commen size they all looked like this size or .74 inches narorroer like the pine cream. Now I shall cut out some blocks of wood the same size to make the wet mold for the pocky pouches
The average box is a tiny bit bigger than Pine Cream. Generally Pocky comes in 4 sizes. (sorry, I can't get measurements while I'm at work)
Small box- these are usually seen with the strawberry cream at Fred Meyer. Caramel and a couple other flavors also came in small boxes.
Medium box- these are the classic "normal" Pocky boxes that most people will get at Fred Meyer. Pine cream is about this size, as were Pocky G and Reverse. Men's Pocky is usually a slightly wider version of this box.
Thick box- these boxes are found mostly in the special kinds of Pocky, like Decorer or Strawberry chunk. These boxes are the same height as the other two and usually as wide as the Medium boxes. They are twice as deep to make room for the extra coating of yumminess on the pocky sticks.
Giant Box- These are the containers for the individually wrapped Giant Pocky. These boxes are as thick as two medium boxes, as tall as two boxes, and about as wide as a medium box is tall. They'd huge. Making a little quiver or something that could hold a few giant Pocky would be awesome as well.

I just got my first box of pocky and I just ate it. It is Chocklet in the red 3.53 Oz box. Is that a commen size they all looked like this size or .74 inches narorroer like the pine cream. Now I shall cut out some blocks of wood the same size to make the wet mold for the pocky pouches
The average box is a tiny bit bigger than Pine Cream. Generally Pocky comes in 4 sizes. (sorry, I can't get measurements while I'm at work)
I got a box of Chocolate Pocky about 3/4 an inch wider then pine cream and the same height and thickness. I got it at an asian market ware they call me Mr Kim Chee Holic.

The bookstore called me earlier this week and it sounds like they're hiring me at least temporarly. When my boss suggested some dates for me to come in she mentioned giving me a day off on Sat. so we'll see. *crosses fingers*

Are we going to have any other pocky club meetups like we did last year that one time with Panda and Megan/Lauren? I thought iw as cool to meet up and then go to the meeting... And it gave us time to talk just as pocky club without having to bustle over to do offical convention things.
Oh and how many members do we have and how many of them seem to be active in pocky club? It seems like it's a very small number of the original members.

I made a really awesome poster for pocky club last night. My scanner isn't hooked up, so I ca'nt show it to you... But do you think it'd be a good idea to have posters around the convention for the panel (abeit the convention lets us hang posters, even in designated spots?)

It is a very small group of the members from last year, but we do have new members that weren't there before the convention, like Negima!
We still have you, ruki, and jaz! That's not a bad littel core. Once the actual convention hits we'll have more people helping out with us. It'll be great.

We decided not to go to Sakura-con last year. We will be discussing it from the sucsess of our second year of Pocky Club at Kumoricon. :]

The original plan for Pocky Club had us being a year round organization that could deliver boxes of pocky to anyone anywhere. We've scaled back a bit but I hope that if we get enough casual members I'll be able to call them to arms like otaku minute-men.
Pika37 is having a birthday in Longview! I need a Vash to deliver some strawberry chunk to her by this weekend!
That sort of thing. I think that if I hooked up with some other website like cosplay.com I could really make things happen. However, I kinda like the feel we have going right now, it feels like a club ya know? It's like we could build a treefort and not lower the rope ladder to *insert anime here* fans and smelly little sisters just cuz we feel like it.
If we went to other cons I think it'd be great to go as a group. Like 7 or 8 Pocky clubbers with a few local recruits cruising the con cicuit and spreading joy and world peace through Pocky. I'd settle for a few people doing some mild advertisement on the first day and random deliveries for people "in the know" during the rest of the convention. At the very least I can see us being a resource for staffers who wish to show recognition of jobs well done when a thank you would not suffice. It'd be hilarious for me to see "Pocky Delivery Agent" as an official staff position a few years from now. :lol:
Just wait until I win the lottery, then you'll see where Pocky club can go. :wink:
