Title: Cheap Kunai in Oregon
Post by: Vondan on February 01, 2006, 06:49:48 pm
Hey every one DOLLAR TREE has a toy set with a small plastic "Ninja Sword" that could be a cosplay tanto and a normal size throwing star and a Kunai. I Already have to many real and plastic swords and a bunch of plastic throwing stars so I got plastic Army men (it's an addiction) I may pick some up latter though. I was talking to a friend in Michigan and we compare DOLLAR TREE and they have the Ninja Toy set there too so they should have them in your town.

edit

As long as I’m on my way to the Seneca GW and SVP and the KFC I might as well go to DOLLAR TREE and get a few sets (And maybe more army men) will post images if any one cares.

edit

I'm really off to go shopping this time not “Multy Task” on the K con forum, Armour forum, and Leather forum.  I’m going to back the chair away and turn off the pc in 123…..

To the Poll I think that they have good reason not to allow live steel, in fear that some one would get hurt and then take legal action against the convention. Some kkkkkrazzzyyyy kids out there think that they really are ninjas (-deep sigh- Those kids piss me off...) and would probably stage real "Ninja Fights" for money or something.
I'm not saying that people can be resonsible, but like this stupid rule at my old middle school not allowing hats because they think we'll bring in weapons or something, some people acting like idiots, makes it so that everyone is punished.

Yeah....thats a good point about the law suit Neko-Chan. The Hotel probably has say in it too, so I don't think it will happen.

The hotel definitely has say in it.  I can't remember if it was 2K5 or 2K4, but something we thought would be okay (it was metal, but not edged, I think... can't remember for sure) the hotel came back and said "not okay."  Between that and the legal ramifications (and I'm unsure, but I think it may have insurance issues as well, which only compounds it), we can be pretty sure that live steel will never be allowed - which, IMO, is a good thing, since some people can be counted on to always be irresponsible and willfully ignorant of the rules.

It's the stupid ones that ruin it for the rest of us...

One time at Drama Camp...

I was in High School and in charge of the boys and we were sleeping in the mess hall (this was at a western dude ranch during the off season) and the girls were sleeping in Cabins 7 and 9 and the one in charge of them was this red head who looked like the princess from Krull and she liked to do sexy things like read Narnia and Lloyd Alexander and Tolkien and put on capes and play with swords.   So one kid brought a full Ninja outfit with a hood and the split toe shoes, and he put it on and was sneaking all over the camp and was standing next to a tree outside cabin 7 right beside the program director as he was yelling at the girls to shut up.  And then I picked the lock on the wine cellar and then...

(Edited for Neko Chan's Safety )

... so after that the program director joined us and slept on the floor of the mess hall for the rest of the two weeks.   Those damn Ninja kids

Do you wish the Con allowed Live steel weapons
does the word "live" need to be in here? anywho it would be nice but honestly does it really matter if you dont have one made of steel?

doesn't live steel refer to metal weapons with a blade

Not blade, specifically.  Sharp edge or pointy bit, yes.  However, you also have to deal with hotels and security (and police, should they need to show for some reason), and even other congoers.  Not everyone is going to realize that your practice katana with no actual blade edge doesn't actually have an edge, even if you know it's completely safe, so sometimes even that gets ruled out.  I, similarly, couldn't bring in an all-wood pointy spear of death, and we had to veto a garden fork last year due to the live steel rule (see: pointy bits).

Yes it means performance weapons with a metal blade but the edge is never any shaper than a butter knife and the point is as dull as a crayon.  I was doing saber practice the other day and the weapons were practice swords from the movie hook and they had blades made from square aluminum bars as sharp as my mom’s cane

Ware they can be dangerous is that they do have weight and you can be clubbed and even a dull crayon could put out an eye.

The whole purpose of the poll was to try out the poll form and see if any one else likes those spicy Buffalo wings, I got two orders on my way to get plastic Kunai and Ninja stars (Damn stars had a safety ring I cut off with a razor blade)

Roy Rogers is (I believe) an actor who played a cowboy on TV waaaaaaay
before most of us were born.

It is also the equivalent of a Sherly Temple drink.

Spend a lot of time at the bar???

The Roy Rogers is usealy Coke and grenadine (The Syrup they used to use to make a cherry coke at the fountian).  It's always just Coke and grenadine

A shirley Temple or Dale Evans is 7-up and grenadine.   The mocktail of choice for little girls everywhere.  SOme times it's made with ginger ale and has some OJ in it and a cherry on top.

At Kumoricon they should be renamed but for who  what anime couple should have mocktails named after them

No no you should not be talking about drinking just anime

I drank for one summer in high school, not that any thing bad happened

There was the one party at the abandoned scout camp hosted by the police chief’s daughter and ... and I got so hungry I ate the steaks raw but that ended up with jail time

There was the party in the abandoned ski camp hosted by the cheerleaders... but that ended up with drunken cheerleaders one with a machete and one with an axe then some one catching on FIRE.

It still got boreing real quick

Stick with the Shirley Temple

It’s lunchtime I’ll get a 2L Cherry Pepsi it’s sort of like the Roy Rogers drink

*Thinking... thinking...*
How about a Shirley Temple/Dale Evans be called a "Ranma" at Kumoricon?  That way either gender can call it the same thing.  ^_^
