At Sakura-con this year, we had a at least one person--and perhaps could've used more--who went around just generally checking out how staff members were doing and if they needed anything. I highly recommend such a role at this con too.
Obviously, this can help with understaffing problems and other missing essentials, but it was also good to have someone spreading sympathy to the stressed-out.
-
's a great idea. And I'm sure we'll have people volunteering for just such a role. Gods... so many things to talk about at the meeting.
-
they should get that staff lady that was dressed up as chi she was everywhere!

Sorry, but I'm already Security. ^.^;
But yes, a general helper would be nice. Hopefully Sakura Con will be getting quite a few to help keep other staff memberers hydrated and fed, as four-ten hour shifts, though uncommon, do happen. ^.^; (My longest shift was 6 and a half hours, and I was hungry! ;-; )
-
damn it seemed like ther were 2 of you u were in so many places
-
Actually, there might have been two. ^.^;
What day did you see this Chii? I was only Chii on Saturday, due to the fact that working Security in a corset has to be one of the stupidest ideas I've ever had. ^.^; (But I am still getting complimented on the outfit by friends, and have had a few threaten me to repair it in time for Kumori Con. ^.^; )

This topic was discussed at the meeting. We will be recruiting a few staff helpers for the con. People to check up on staff, run errands, bring food, etc. Happy staff are healthy staff are helpful staff are pleasent staff are efficient staff, etc etc etc.
We will post a general request for such positions when the time comes and we need to bring them into a general "this is what we're going to need from you".

saturday if your the right one u didnt have you ears on at 7 in the morning
-
I took a picture of a Secuirty Staff dressed as Chii. She wasn't wearing her ears. If it is you, your costume was AMAZING!! I loved it!
-
Wow.... yeah, that was me. O.o My friends never got me the ears in time, so I kinda ended up borrowing ears from another Chii, my roomate. ^.^;
Can you send me the pic of Chii please? My grandma helped make the costume, but she never got to see me in it, and no one I know has pics of it. ^.^;
Oh, note on the general helper, they should be armed with bottles of water, not soda. As much as caffeine will keep people on their feet, it dehydrates people a LOT, and killing the staff is generally a bad thing. ^.^;

Orange Juice actually works really well, it helps break down negative acids that build up in your muscles after tedious use, and it's a naturally revitilizing drink.
Ah yes, staff who help staff, I'm all for that. At SakuraCon I was the random guy going around saying 'Staff Love' and giving people handshakes or pats on the back. It's just that brief moment of acknowledgement sometimes for the hard work and long hours we volunteer that makes it so worth it.
-
Orange juice can also make an upset stomach worse(Something to do with the acids in it.), so I advise a water and orange juice bottle. ^.^
-
We should budget a supply of water bottles for people working during the con.
-
Buying the plastic bottles should be relativly cheap, and water for refills can come out of a water faucet.
I know Sakura Con had a supply of Capri Sun for the staff, though they didn't inform anyone about it.
Maybe you could talk to the local Costco in the area, trade some advertising space in the program for some free food and drinks for the staff, or something.
-
Yes. I can get you the picture. Hopefully soon. I used alot of flim at the con. While we waited in line to get into the Cosplay at Sakuracon, they were handing out cups of water. It helped so much.
-
we could make an order from Nalgene. Too bad it would probably cost too much to have Kumoricon put on the bottles...
Then again... it would be free if we did it with a Sharpie.

Your welcome. You guys really needed to be hydrated. ^.^

Never underestimate the power of a Sharpie! ^.^ Just get a few volonteers together over a weekend and sharpie names onto the water bottles if you need to, and you can get colored sharpies and put pretty colored names and pictures on. ^.^

hmmm... that could be interesting...
maybe we could tie that in to other ideas...
like, when helpers do a good job helping staff they get an initial somewhere from that staff member... and we reward the helper with the most sigs. maybe, maybe not... just throwing around ideas and how we could possibly relate it to the ideas going around in the staff forum.
-
Sigs are too easy to fake. ^.^;
Just put the name and Kumori Con date on, and let the person decorate their water bottle as they see fit. It could be like a cool little reminder in future years about what they liked then.
Like a year book on a water bottle. ^.^

Red water bottle
Blue water bottle
-
ah ha ha ha. now now Sean... keep that to the staff forum.

I could make so many RahXephon comments about blood here. ^.^
-
y not just print some up with sticker paper?
that cosplay line at sukura-con was hell im amazed there was no blood shed half the crowd was armed tired hot and probly pissed off :lol:
-
I've still got that printer I brought with me last year and plenty of sticker paper. It's as high as you can go in an inkjet photo printer without adding extra electronic stuff like card readers and having it be specialized just for photos, so it does a good job with that stuff. (remember the pretty certificates from last year? I know this year's mascot is going to look just as good on them!)

can anyone help me? does anyone know anything about j-pop?
