Title: Fullmetal Alchemist's Creator is Actually a Woman?
Post by: Aurora on December 20, 2005, 04:15:22 pm
This is just a rumor I heard, does anybody know for sure?  I'm really curious.  From reading the extras at the end of each volume, and from reading the fanbooks, I always thought Arakawa is a guy, so I really wanna know if it's true that she's a woman actually.

I found this picture too.

Yep. It is true. Fullmetal Alchemist was created by Hiromu Arakawa.

I guess I'm just behind with news like this.  I seriously thought he...no she was a guy the whole time.  Well it's good to know.

Hunh. Haven't heard of many women creating shows for boys before. It does happen, though. Good to hear it happens in Japan, too. :)

One of my favorite video game composers is actually a woman, in a field typically dominated by men. She's pretty solid, too. She's barely produced anything I don't like, which I can't quite say about all my favorite composers.

(by the way, I'm talking about the composer for Wild Arms)

Are you kidding, there's a lot of women manga artists that create shonin manga.... and it would explain why all of the girls in FMA are usually tough and not all... "oh, help good kind sir, I'll do anything!!" ....ugh

Yeah. And perhaps it's also why FMA doesn't fall into the same carbon copy OMG-must-grow-stronger "tournament" format that almost every other shounen series out there seems to comply to. :P

...Well, from what I've seen. Didn't keep going on FMA after I stopped frequenting the U of O anime club (now gone, sadly :( )
